I have an electrical problems with my van. All warning-light-indicators in my instrument panel would turn "on" while I'm driving on the freeway or street. Also, I have intermittent problem with my headlights that flicker "on" and "off" by itself while I'm driving. This is very unsafe, specially at night. My dealership have failed to help diagnose the electrical problem.
The instrument panel flat lines in other words speedometer, gas gauge and temp gauge all drop to zero. It might return at any time most often after hitting a bump in the road.
The instrument panel components began to turn on and off quickly like a flicker. The first instance was in Aug and since then it has happened about five times. Two times the car stopped and would not start for a few minutes.

I have a 2001 Dodge Caravan se. Began to have malfunctions with both front windows in 2004. I had this repaired along with some other maintenance in July of this year. This year in sept the instrument panel flatlined as well as the turn signals. This results in loss of fuel gauge, speedometer, rpm, odometer, temp gauge and turning signals. They would occasionally begin to function again but have only done this once or twice over the last 2 months. The dealer recommends replacing the entire instrument cluster at a cost of over $900.

I turned on my van, started down the street, looked down to see what speed I was going and saw that the speedometer wasn't working. The needle is on the other side of the pin as if we were going 160 mph and does not budge. When the van was turned off, it did not return to the other side of the pin. The speedometer has never been a problem for us in the past. My van is a 2003 and this should not be an issue on a vehicle that is only 5 years old.

The instrument panel keeps going dead, no gauge readings at all. The abs light comes on and the gas, temp, speedometer, mileage and gear lights don't work, they just go out. So you have no idea what your speed is which can cause an accident. This is not the first time that this has happened and we have checked all the connections. I have also heard from several other people that own Caravans and other models that it has happened to them as well. I have already had to replace my transmission because I was left stranded with no notice at all. I love my Caravan what I don't love is all the issues that I have been having with it. Yeah, it might be 10 years old but I have only owned it for 5 months and if I had known that these things were known to happen to the Caravans I would not have purchased it.
The contact owns a 1997 Dodge Caravan. The rear driver side vent window is stuck in an inward position and cannot be opened. While driving at any speed, the instrumental panel lights begin to flash and the vehicle shuts off. The vehicle can only be restarted after waiting 15 minutes. The dealer has not diagnosed the vehicle. The failure mileage was 150,000.
No specific event, it just started happening. Instrument panel lights, headlights and gauge needles flicker erratically, warning bell rings periodically, radio cuts out temporarily. Usually worse when warm engine and weather. Dealer fixed the problem temporarily for period of two months by reprogramming the bcm. Took vehicle to another dealer and they had no clue how to fix the problem.
My 2000 Dodge Caravan se instrument gauges/instrument display sometimes go dead and then operating again, everything from the gauges to the electronics display just stop operating but the vehicle still drives normal. On very hot days the problem seems to happen more often than usual, could it be a ground wire perhaps or something, there are no fuses blown. . . . . . Please advise. Thanks much.
Dashboard display including speedometer, tachometer, and fuel gauge suddenly stopped working.
We just had our 2003 Dodge Caravan fixed after the check engine light had been on, and it started to sputter. Now it was working fine and the check engine light came back on, then the speedometer, gas gauge, heat guage, and digital mileage display all turned off and went haywire. The digital display turned off, while the gauges all floated. All over the place. Last time it was the oil pressure sensor and the vacuum line for the fuel system, and before that at another recent event with the check engine light, it was the gas cap needing to be replaced. There are only approx. 48,000 miles on the minivan. We've had to replace the rotors twice since we got in in October 2004. In the two years we've had it, we've needed to get rentals twice because of this. Stay away from the 2003 Dodge Caravan. . . If you can't pass it up, get the extra coverage.
The van has a hard time going in reverse when it is cool outside. And when going in drive the van has a hard time shifting into any gear. Sometimes the while driving down the road the speedometer flips out and shoots to 0 to 80 3 times before it stops and goes back to the right speed that I am going.
