My 2005 Dodge Caravan has a strong gasoline odor. The car has completely stopped while driving twice now. Upon extensive online research this has been an ongoing problem with the Caravan from 1998 through 2004 with recalls. When looking online I've read many complaints from people still having this problem with the 2005. It seems that this problem is still not fixed. I hope that you will look into this. I'm now scared to drive my vehicle, afraid that it will die going down the highway causing an accident or catch fire.

Every time after filling up the gas, the car dies on road after less than . 5 mile driving. However, it can be restarted again after several minutes.

While parked at a stop sign the vehicle started to smoke. A fire then appeared coming out of the hood. 911 was called and fire squad came. Within 5 minutes the entire front of the car was engulfed in flames. Fire extinguishers were used but it could not put out the fire. Fire truck came and by this time the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames. Firemen used water to finally control the fire. Fire restarted and had to be put out again and eventually the fire was completely extinguished. It was perhaps only 10 minutes for the fire to start, spread, and completely and utterly destroy the van. Because of the intensity, quickness of the fire, and the difficulty in putting it out, it appears to be a fuel related fire. I read that Dodge had fuel line "o" rings that could be defective and that could have been the cause. I called Dodge headquarters and explained the event. I am still waiting for a call back.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that when she refueled to capacity, the vehicle stalled. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the vapor lock may have been the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 136,000.

Immediately after fueling my van will stall as I am driving. I looked on the internet and this problem is rampant with numerous Dodge vehicles of the same and varying types and concurrent years. I am wondering why they are not recalling them as this is a severe safety hazard?.

Over the period of one year my Dodge Caravan 1999 se stopped engine cut off while going speeds of 75 miles an hour on highways. The last time I was almost hit as it was rush hour and on a very heavy traffic area bridge. I brought it several times to mechanics and they can not find out what the problem. I reported it to Chrysler and htye did not respond. When I told my story about how scary this was to someone else they said that another lady had the same issue and no one would find hte problem. I had kids in my car when it stopped once it was scary to be going 75 and the car die just die. It would not resart at first so of course a mechanic took advantage of me charging me 600 dollars for a new starter and new battery. Guess what it happen after these new items were replaced. Again Chrysler the manufacturer no response. I decided to trade in my car it was too scary shouldn't someone investigate this thing is ee Caravans everywhere and I feel sorry for the children someone may not be as lucky as I was three times. An inexperienced driver would not have been able to stop like I did at that speed. I was lucky but had the experience to stop. Please investigate this problem before someone does die.
