Fuel system issue pertaining to lack of fuel to engine. There have been multiple occasions where the vehicle had hard starting and stalling, now the vehicle won't start. After investigating common issues (I. E. , air, fuel, spark) it was determined that fuel was not traveling to the fuel rail at the engine. The fuel pump was replaced and the issue persisted. Currently the vehicle in non-operational due to the lack of fuel. I fell this issue is very similar to the NHTSA pe13016 investigation where the determination was to replace the fuel tank as the integrated multifunction control valve (mfcv) was found to be defective. The manufacturer offered a lifetime warranty for the issue, however it was stated that the vehicles included in the extended warranty were equipped with the 5. 7l and 6. 1l 8-cylider engines. We find this inaccurate as our vehicle is equipped with the 3. 5l 6-cylinder and is suspect to have the identical issues as stated in the all of the investigative documents for pe13016.

I purchased a 2011 Dodger Charger 1week ago from texan Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram in humble TX. I test drive the car on a half tank of gas no problem at the time until I decided to buy the car off a trade in. Deal went great im on my way back houston I notice the gas tank is full know 20 min into the ride I start smelling gas. So I roll the window down got home lift up the back seat I notice the gas smell has gotten stronger now iam looking at the fuel pump with gas on top one spark hole car could have blew up. . . These mechanic are a f. . K. . Joke what ever happen to safercars . .

The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Charger. While the vehicle was parked, the contact smelled a strong odor of fuel inside and outside the vehicle continuously. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that an accumulation of fuel leaked onto the fuel pump. The mechanic placed an o-ring onto the fuel pump. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105,718.
2011 Dodge Charger with 85,000 miles has strong fuel odor inside the vehicle and on the outside rear passenger panel. Panel code indicated evaporation leak. Dodge tech found fuel pump seal leaking vapor into cabin and fuel under rear passenger seat. Tech replaced the fuel pump and o-rings at a total cost of $525.
2011 Dodge Charger / 82,000 miles: leaking fuel pump/component on passenger side. After a routine fill up an extremely strong odor of gasoline was present inside of the car and outside of the car. Pool of gasoline present near rear tire when vehicle is parked. Removal of backseat revealed a large puddle of gasoline on top of the gas tank. Fuel pump o-ring was replaced but to my disappointment problem persists. Contacted Dodge about issue but they said there were currently no recalls associated with fuel pump equipment and could not point me towards a culprit. Even at less than half a tank the smell is overbearing causing headaches making the car a literal pain to drive. There is a battery cable running in close proximity to the pool of gas and the gas drips below around hot exhaust. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle this way due to the risk of fire or explosion. This is a static component and I feel that it should not simply wear out. There is another issue here that is causing this to happen. Next items to check will be fuel pump and tank itself. Even if issue is resolved I fear that the smell will remain for some time. Really unfortunate for a vehicle that is still being paid for. I hope this gets addressed soon as the fuel pump or fuel tank are not cheap fixes. There seems to be quite a few of identical complaints on here as well as other forums. Logging a complaint now in case a fire occurs that destroys the car, property or injury. Its encouraging to see other have reported the same failure but I cannot locate any recall information.
Filled up with gas and had a strong smell in car after checking I found out that the gas tank was leaking around the fuel pump seal had it replaced and still leaks if you fill above 3/4 tank this is a fire hazard due to gas leaking on the ground if someone dropped a cig. On the ground where the gas is it could explode and the fumes inside the passenger compartment cant be good for your health,I feel like this is a problem that Chrysler should have to fix . I just purchased the car 11/23/2015.

The contact stated that the customer informed him that after refuel ing the vehicle, there was a fuel odor. The contact diagnosed that two fuel pump electrical pins had burnt, allowing fuel to leak from them, and the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. My Dodge Charger has about a 43,000 miles and I noticed a gasoline odor in my car, so I stopped to look to see if gas was leaking for my car and it was leaking gas coming from the rear passenger side. I had my care towed to my near by mechanic shop and they found that the leak was coming from my fuel pump. I called Dodge to report the issue and they said, its not under warranty. This is unsafe to have gas leaking from a car and especially with just 43,000 miles on the vehicle.
After refill inside of the vehicle showed heavy gas smell. Check engine light appeared and disappeared randomly. After 2nd refill gas smell returned. Local dealer suggested evap canister replacement. When checking more thorough it showed during regular idle fuel pump on passenger rear was leaking during pressure build up. Once filled gas started dripping behind right rear wheel near hot exhaust pipe. Afraid that vehicle could catch fire due to battery wiring being located in immediate area of leak.
After a repair of the alternator at the end of September and beginning of October 2014, a fuel pump replacement also in October 2014, and the recall replacement of the alternator in June 2015, the check engine soon light on my Dodge Charger lit up again in August 2015. I took it into the dealership for yet another repair only for them to run the check engine light diagnostic and found another fuel system leak. However, they were not able to schedule me for a repair until September 1, 2015. After taking the Charger in for repair, further diagnostic discovered the fuel filler tube was at fault and a replacement was necessary. I have had it repaired and two days later the check engine soon light has lit back up. I had to travel for work so I will update with my next complaint once it has been diagnosed.
Leaking gas from top of tank or fuel pump.
Engine turns off when idling such as when stopped at a "stop sign" or "traffic light". Auto dealership replaced both fuel pumps and have cleaned throttle housing but problem continues.

Filled gas tank on way to work. Got in car to go to lunch and noticed a strong gas smell. Called my husband (he is an ase certified master tech, gm master tech. ) he informed me there must be a fuel leak. Then the check engine light came on, he put his scanner on it and it pulled a code of p0496 (small leak detected). The smell would go away when the gas level was under 1/2 tank. Would only fill to 1/2 after that. After a week or so the smell would come back with only 1/2 tank of gas. The check engine light has stayed on all this time. Husband pulled the rear seat out on July 11th to discover fuel pooling from the right rear passenger fuel module, the gas was leaking through the plastic. Contacted the Dodge dealership and they were unaware of any problems like this. July 12th we ordered a new bosch premium fuel pump (part# 67774). On July 17th I ran the fuel down so only 1 gallon was left in tank. Let the car sit for 2 hrs. Husband removed the main pump, which fell apart. Upon removing the primary fuel pump (right side) the pressure was so strong it blew fuel all over him and the interior of the back seat. The pump holds fuel pressure for way to long after it is turned off. Not to mention that there is only 2 pieces of plastic/foam between the fuel pumps and the back seat. That, in itself is dangerous. Is the excessive pressure what caused the plastic fuel pump to crack and allow the fuel to pool on top? I love my car but am very afraid to drive it now. I am not only concerned for my safety but also the safety of anyone sitting in the backseat (kids/grandkids). What if I get rear ended and there is a spark that ignites the pooled fuel, will Chrysler then issue a recall for this problem after my car explodes? there are several complaints on this website for the same issue. Can't the NHTSA do something to help?.

The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who replaced the fuel pump and fuel tank. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000.
A week after my initial repair/replacement on the alternator (not covered under recall at the time) of my Charger, the check engine light came on and you could smell gas through the ac system. I took the car into the dealership garage and they scanned the check engine system which returned a minor leak, but due to the fuel smell, they advised I do not drive the car and leave it with them for repair. After further diagnostic I needed to get the right side fuel pump replaced on the car.
Dodge dealership told us over 600 fuel pumps for the 2010 Charger were back ordered and that we would have to wait to get a replacement part for mine. 600 back ordered fuel pumps sounds like a common enough issue that may potentially need to be a recall. My 2010 Charger will not start unless this fuel pump is replaced.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle, which was taken to an independent mechanic. The mechanic replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the plugs for the power control module, and changed the fuel pump relay. The failure recurred after the repairs were performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.
The morning of July 5, 2013 I started my car and allthe dash lights came on. It had done this once before but only for a second and then all was fine. This time they didn't turn off and when I started to drive it was making "whining" noise. I called the dealership and told them what was going on. They told me to drive to the dealership right away. They called later that afternoon to tell me it was the alternator was bad and causing a short. Since the car was past 36,000 miles it's not covered under warranty! it cost me about $800 to replace the alternator. I'm not sure what the exact problem was with the alternator, but I just had it at the dealershp a month prior for an oil change and they "said" the car checked out fine. I have had numerous issues with this car! 35,5019 miles, they replaced 3 of the 6 pistons,thankfully it was under warranty. 45,778 miles, the alternator failed. Around 50,000 miles, one of the fuel pumps needed to be replaced because it was cracked on the top. The car smelled like gas for a month after fixing it. The mechanic that replaced it said he has never seen them brake like that and it was very odd. Recently at about 57,000, we replaced the actuator in the diver side a/c unit. The noise started about 6 months prior but financally we were unable to repair it until now. It is past the milage for lemon law but Dodge should not leave the consumer to pay for their mistakes and poor quality.
First instance was on Sunday, 6 may 2012. Car stalled after turning onto city street while accelerating to posted speed: 35 mph. If fuel tank is filled to click on gas pump (full tank) this continues to happen, especially in very humid weather conditions/rain. Car has also stalled on hills at stop signs or traffic lights and has stalled at on-ramps to local interstate highway/city bypass, given the above full fuel tank issue. If I don't fill the tank above the 7/8 mark on the fuel gage indicator, the car does not stall. If I exceed the 7/8 mark, then the car does stall, multiple times if very humid conditions exist and will continue until the fuel tank is at or below 7/8 capacity. I've had approximately 22 stalls since Sunday 6 may 2012. It's inconvenient to have to guess when to stop the fuel pump at gas stations and very frightening to stall in traffic, especially at on-ramps to highways.
Passenger side fuel pump leaking on top of tank. With internet research found this to be a common problem due to poor quality plastic cracking. Contact a dealer not under recall.
