After refilling my tank with gas, my car suddenly began to stall. Immediately after refilling, I started my car and within a few seconds it shut off. After many attempts of starting it and remaining stationary, my car finally remained on for more than 5 minutes and I assumed it was safe to begin driving. 5 minutes into driving on a city street the car began to jerk and stalled in the middle of the street, fortunately it didn't cause an accident. I was able to restart it and turn into the nearest shopping center where I contacted chrystler, who claimed they had no knowledge of this issue. I've seen a multitude of complaints with similar, if not the same, issues I continue to experience.

After filling the gas tank up car stalls within minutes on busy hiway interstate and it fluids out where you are stuck in traffic ive had plenty of mechanics to look at the far and they cant detect the problem I need some assistance with this issue are I'm gonna end up causing a bad wreck with the issue of my car please contact me 2516441589.
I was in the middle of an intersection, turning left, and my vehicle just turns off. Very unsafe for a car to turn off in the middle of driving. Luckily this didn't cause an accident. 2 other instances, I was turning out onto a busy street, pulling out of the gas station after filling up. It makes me nervous to put gas in the car and wondering when the car will die out. The shutting down of the vehicle happens after everytime I put gas into it. Its not an issue of overfilling the tank because I,ve been filling up a vehicle gas tank for over 20 years and have never had an issue. Even if I don't fill it up completely, this occurs. I have heard from many other people having the same issue with the same year Chargers. Others who have had this same issue have said its the vapor purge valve on top of the gas tank.
Strong fuel odor noticed after filling up fuel tank. Visible fuel leak notice under right passenger side of car while car parked. Vehicle was taken to independent repair shop. Leak thought to be caused by problem with o-ring on passenger side fuel transfer pump. O-ring replace. Seemed to resolve problem until next fill up. Then leak returned. Seal checked, and another new o-ring installed. Leak continued. Upon closer inspection after vehicle is turned off the honey comb surface of the fuel transfer pump seems to be filling with gas after vehicle is shut off. Mechanic contacted Dodge dealer and was informed that it is a known problem and that a recall has been issued on the hemi models for a similar problem. However no recall in place for the 6 cylinder model. Fuel transfer pump replacement recommended. Not covered by any warrant. As this fuel leak occurs directly under the rear passenger seat and fuel seams to puddle in this area causing fuel vapor to enter passenger compartment this seems to be a legitimate safety hazard and should be addressed immediately by Dodge.

After filling my gas tank my car stalled on the freeway. The next time I filled my tank my car stalled twice while driving on side streets. I have been told it is the vapor purge valve. I can only fill my tank partially or I stall. This is very dangerous.
When vehicle is filled to a full tank of gasoline, the car then stalls during short distances. The stalling occurs randomly and in the middle of traffic, this poses a serious safety risk to myself and any occupants in my car along with other drivers around me. I have read multiple reports of this being a common problem with 2006 Dodge Charger r/t's. I am not overfilling the vehicle, but I need this problem reserved as soon as possible before I am involved in an accident that is not my fault and due to my car stalling from a full tank of gas.
Car shuts off after filling tank. Happens everytime I fill up. Mechanic says it has to do with the check valve.
At 105000 miles I noticed this for the first time in September 2015 after filling it the car repeatedly stalled while in traffic, at a stop light and while going around a turn at slow speeds. Once the tank was around 3/4 full I noticed it stopping. It restarted, but caused me to stop in traffic and wait a second to put in n or p to restart and then back into gear. This is a real safety hazard and surprised it hasn't elevated to a recall. I thought it was bad fuel - the first time this happened, 2 fill ups later it still occurred leaving no check engine light for me to trouble shoot. That lead me to the internet and I found investigation pe 13-016 which sounds exactly what my issue is. I called the dealer to set up an appointment to get the recalled airbag fixed. I asked them to remedy this concurrently but they acted real stupid on the phone - I wanted to make sure the parts were on hand to fix it at this time. I hope they honor the extended warranty as I am the only owner and don't remember getting the letter sent to me on this matter. I am curious from this repair what they will not cover and if they will overcharge for other items that "they find". I am not exactly sure what they are covering under this extended warranty?.
When filling tank up with gas full. Fumes from gas can be smelled inside car. The engine light came on and got a diagnostic reporting evap leak. I took it to the Dodge dealership and was quoted that gas tank sealed will need replace with fuel pump.
My 2006 Charger rt begins to stall out every time after filling up the tank. In fact, anything past 2/3 of a tank will cause this issue. The stall generally happens while at a stop sign or light, when the rpms are low. The only way to continue is to turn the car completely off and restart it while pumping the gas. If I am able to get to the highway and up to speed before stalling out the engine sputters and the rpms dip a couple of times before stabilizing. This only happens ~3-10 minutes after putting gas in the tank. I drive a 2006 Dodge Charger rt. It just recently passed the 100k mileage after a ~600 mile trip home to see the family. I've had this problem occur many times over the past 1-2 years and I am becoming worried that this may be a common issue. After a bit of research, I've found that this is actually pretty common with 2006 Chargers and feel that this is an issue that Dodge aught to address. Problems with the gas tank and evap system in this vehicle appear to be a frequent occurrence and can result in very dangerous situations. This has been a minor inconvenience as of yet but I'm concerned that this could cause very serious problems in the future, if they haven't already.
As I came to a complete stop, chimes when off in the car then the car just completely shut off. I restarted and car drove fine. The exact set of incidents happened several times a day over a course of a few months. I took the vehicle into a local Dodge dealer. After spending thousands of dollars getting, tcm, ecm, major tune-up, spark plug coils, sensors repaired the problem still persisted. I have had over three different repair shops attempt to diagnose this issue and no one could figure it out. I noticed that the problem occurred even more frequently after filling up at the gas station. Driving like this makes me feel very unsafe. This car has stalled numerous times in rush hour traffic and in freeway traffic. After reading several online threads it appears that other 06 Charger owners are experiencing the same issues and it tends to point to a faulty sensor in the fuel tank. I need this matter resolved. This is very unsafe.
I noticed a strong gas smell in and around the car several weeks ago after filling up but I did not overfill or spill gas anywhere. After having a mechanic diagnose the issue he found that the fuel pump under the rear seat on the right side was leaking and had fuel pooling up at the top. As first step he replaced the o-ring seal on the fuel up. After replacing the seal there was no leak initially but it occurred again after the next fill up. So it seems the leak only occurs when the gas tank is full. Since the seal was already replaced but the leak is still there I took it to the Dodge dealer who will have to diagnose it further but they told me that it is most likely the gas tank that is leaking and they have seen many problems like this already and I am not the first one. They also told me that Dodge has updated the fuel tank recently so obviously there is a flaw with the old design which is probably why I am having problems. Not only is this a costly repair which is unfair to consumers but it poses danger since fuel is leaking under the seat and could potentially ignite and set the whole car on fire.
After filling tank 2006 Dodge Charger rt v8 stalled multiple times. First two still sitting at pump, next at intersection while turning right and also lost power sterering, next at parking space while straightening out. Serious safety hazard, especially at intersections or stalling in traffic. Found NHTSA pe13016 regarding this issue, but I see it is closed and was only issued to certain vins. All affected models should be covered for the tank replacement and associated 'float' and vapor purge valve.
This problem started about a year age. At first it was once ever 3 months now it happening more often. On 1/14/2014 after filling the gas tank the car stalled nearly being rear ended on the expressway. This problem getting worse and worse everytime. This problem is going to take someones life in an accident.
I was driving right after filling up my gas tank I stop at a red light and I feel my car kick so I go the back way home as I slow down for a speed bump my car completely shuts off I've did some reading and this happens a lot with the 2006 Chargers a lot.
After filling up the gas tank vehicle was running, sitting in traffic. Engine stalled. Vehicle took a few minutes to restart as it sat in rush hour traffic. Research indicates this dangerous problem is common on this vehicle.
After filling up at gas station, car stalls in traffic when fuel is sucked into vapor recovery system. Dealer says fuel tank replacement is not covered by any recalls.
Car stalls after filling gas tank, at speed or idling. No codes or other indications.
Full tank fill for trip to florida from north carolina. Car stalled within in few blocks from gas station. Restart and stall several times. Let idle for awhile and noticed rpm's going up and down at idle. Finally got going and fueled with a full tank 2 times on way to florida, same problem each time. Contacted dealership in deland florida and was told I had a faulty fuel float and would have to replace fuel tank or I could wait until I got back to north carolina. They said if I only filled to 3/4 it should be fine. I did that and got back to north carolina. Took car to dealership in greensboro, north carolina. They were familiar with this problem. They did a diagnostic test by filling fuel tank and encountered the same problem. They contacted Chrysler for warranty. Chrysler denied it. I contacted Chrysler and got a case number. I talked to several people and was told they would call me back. None of them called back, so I had to make calls. They denied for reasons: VIN not covered, car built in wrong month, car has salvage title, not covered under x53 or Chrysler service bulletin #14-002-14 issued in February 2014. . I asked for a letter of denial. They refused. Said I could contact an attorney if I wanted a letter. The cost for this known problem will be $1,250. 00. I have had Dodge and Chrysler vehicles sine 1969. Not a way to treat a good customer.
After refilling the gas tank, the engine stalled several times with "bucking". The tank was not overfilled. After about 5 miles and several stalls, the condition went away and did not reoccur until I gassed up at a different station two weeks later. Again the tank was not overfilled. Internet search indicates that this is being investigated as pe13-016. Prior to this there has been no similar incidents. Others have had similar issues.
Vehicle jerks while driving as if something is starting to die or go out, then starts running again. Only appears to happen after filling the fuel tank to completely full. Vehicle will stall out within several feet after fueling up, then restart and you're good to go. You drive maybe an eighth of a mile and as you slow to a stop, the car will stall out and die again. Usually fine for the rest of the evening. Vehicle eventually shuts off when I come to a near stop or am stopped. Oil lamp light turns on when the car dies. Tried restarting twice, but was unsuccessful. Took the key out of the ignition, then waited a few minutes. Tried to start the engine again and was successful. It seems extremely unsafe to drive like this, but it seems I have to drive long enough to burn off some gas to keep the gas tank under full at all times to avoid this problem.
After filling up my gas tank and driving off the gas station lot onto a main road my car stalled and died almost causing the car behind me to run into the back of my car. My car continued to stall all the way home. It restarted after stalling but put me in a very dangerous position. I could not drive the car anywhere in fear that it would stall again. I had to pay to have it towed (money which I do not have) to a service station where they told me that there was a known issue of a fuel system problem. I called the car dealer and they did in fact acknowledge that there is a problem and the fuel tank will be replaced at no charge. I have now been waiting several months for a gas tank. The dealership has stated that they are not receiving any fuel tanks. I need my vehicle to get back and forth to school. I can not get a job because I have no transportation to and from. This is really put a hardship on me. I called another dealership only to find that they are having the same problem. Why are there no tanks being sent to the dealerships to fix this problem? I can not drive a car that puts my life in danger as well as the lives of others.
Filled vehicle with 10% ethanol 87 octane gasoline at self-service station on September 19, 2014. Drove away and vehicle stalled at first intersection. I put the vehicle in neutral and started it with no further problems until I filled tank again after about 250 miles. (I was driving a 1500 mile trip from one state to another. ) every time I refilled the tank, the vehicle would stall within a few hundred feet of filling station. This stalling has continued through yesterday, September 29, 2014, and I am concerned it will happen again when I refill the tank. If the vehicle stalls at the wrong time, someone could be seriously hurt or killed.
My car stalls out and turns off at a light or driving after filling the fuel tank.
While stopped at a traffic light, after having just left a gas station and filling the gas tank, the vehicle stalled. This has happened numerous times now at slow speeds as well. Does not occur every time, but does occur often and always within minutes of refueling.
My vehicle stalled several times after filling the tank. I then took it to my dealer to have it investigated. In reviewing the NHTSA website, I found that this has been already been investigated and Chrysler agreed to extend the warranty on "certain" hemi vehicles with a 19 gallon fuel tank. Investigation pe 13-016. Upon sharing this information with my dealer (Dodge of naperville), they indicated that my 2006 Dodge Charger with a hemi and 19 gallon tank was not covered under this recall and I would need to pay $1700 to have this repaired. They said if it was recalled at a later date, I could apply for reimbursement.
The engine died just after fuel fill-up when I was leaving the lot and getting onto the street. While filling the tank, the pump stopped as if the tank was full, but when I got in the car after fill-up, the gas gauge read only 3/4 full. When the engine died, there was traffic behind me and traffic ahead. I could have been in an accident or caused one. I shifted to neutral, and coasted and re-started the car. This is completely unacceptable. It is dangerous for me, for my family, for my wife when she is driving, as well as the motorists around me.
It is hard starting and will stall anywhere between 0 to 45 mph. When it starts rough it will not go forward or reverse without stalling. It seems to be worse after filling the gas tank. When the car stalls it does so with no warning and can leave you with no power steering or brakes. It did it off and on at first but now does almost every time I run it. I took it to a Dodge dealer and gave him a copy of the lifetime warranty gas tank problem and told him of the symptoms of the car. He ignored me and did 4 flashes on the car plus $110 of "cleanup" work on the car and told me it was fixed. On the way home it stalled in the middle of the highway while my wife was driving and she had no steering. The dealer paperwork said they pulled up 4 codes on the car's computer, which I got none of when I ran my code reader on it before taking it to them. One of the reported codes does not even show on the chart and another one was a "c" code for a chasse problem. Upon getting the car home, after stalling several times on the way home, I called the bank and stopped the payment for the work they say they did. I have another appointment with the dealer I bought the car from (farther away) but how do I get them to do the repair I want, not what they feel like doing? thanks.
Vehicle is stalling after filling up with gas. Occurs when idling (such as at a stoplight) or when decelerating at which it also loses the power steering. Highly concerned this will occur in the middle of a busy intersection. Can restart the car usually after two attempts. May go to the next light/stop and same incident will repeat itself. After driving the car for a few miles. . . (presumeably as the fuel level goes down). . . Car behaves as normal - without issue. Symptoms are very much like a bad tank of gas. Took car to the dealer and they were unable to diagnose the problem. Dealer ran diagnostic checks and no issues are reported. Dodge refuses to do anything until dealer can diagnose the problem. . After filling up vehicle with gas car would quit running as I entered highway. Car shut off sitting at several traffic light. While attempting to get up to speed car was stalling. After about 30 miles of driving when gas ran out of tank car was fine. Refueled yesterday and same problem issue is defective gas tank and with numerous complaints Chrysler has not done a recall to fix vehicles.
After filling the gas tank up, I left the gas station and the car stalled out 7 times. This continues to happen every time I fill the tank up. The steering also goes out. The car has a hard time starting back up once it happens. It happened on the highway also.
Like a number of others in the database we had just filled the gas tank and driven a few miles. After stopping for a traffic light we attempted to accelerate through the intersection after the light turned green. We just cleared the intersection when the car bucked several times and the engine died. We pulled off to the side of the road and attempted to start the car. After several tries the car started up, idled ok, and we proceeded on. The next time we filled up the car the same thing happened. After doing some research on the internet we found the description of the problem as liquid gas getting into the fuel vent line when the gas tank was filled. We subsequently got gas twice without totally filling the tank and had no problems. The internet site we found indicated that the problem could be either the purge solenoid valve or a valve integral to the gas tank. Since the purge solenoid valve was the cheaper fix we tried that first. That fix was not successful as the car stalled after being filled up. We replaced the gas tank yesterday, filled the gas tank, and had no stalling or hesitation. So, it appears that the problem is fixed. However, I could envision a number of situations where one could be in a life-threatening situation if the car died in the middle of an intersection or in heavy traffic on the interstate. Since this appears to be a well-known problem I don't understand why there has not been a recall.
Filled up gas tank, and after leaving the gas station and turning on to exit ramp the car stalled out, and I lost control of the steering. After a few attempts to restart the car started, but stalled multiple times until the fuel level dropped to about 3/4 full. I experienced this same problem a few days later after filling up again. I did some research online and found numerous Charger owners experiencing the same issue. I stooped filling up and only fill to about 3/4 full and I haven't experienced the issue again. Today I came across a report on the warranty extension concerning this issue (pe13-016). I called Chrysler and was told my vehicle was not included in the warranty extension. I am highly upset and annoyed by this total lack of regard for human life!.
Car will stall while decellerating on freeway after filling up the car. Even though this is an issue that is known with Chrysler and they have extended the tank warranty to lifetime under nvs-213krh; pe13-106 they are still not communicating to the dealers that this issue exists and what the proper fix is. I also can not get them to confirm or deny that my VIN is part of the group of cars that this problem pertains to, however I had the same exact symptoms as all other drives with the car stopping after refuleing the system. The dealership tries to blame the customer for 'over-fueling' but I find it ridiculous that you can not fill your engine to full ( 7/8 or above) without this issue happening. When you bring it to the dealership they show raw fule in the cannister and want to trouble shoot it as a customer error. So far this issue has cost me $2500 (tank, labor, rental, 2 canisters now) to fix on my own and Chrysler and the dealership are of no help.
After filling the car with gas (full tank), and leving the station, the car shuts completely off.
