Front Air Bag Sensor Control problems of the 2005 Dodge Dakota

Five problems related to front air bag sensor control have been reported for the 2005 Dodge Dakota. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2009

Airbag sensor came on for no apparent reason this morning. Started truck as normal, panel lights came on as normal, then sensor light came back on with ding. Failure mileage 33840. Since this truck is a lease, which is up in 2 weeks, will not be contacting dealer.

2 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2006

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Dakota. While driving at various speeds, the air bag light illuminated. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of failure, however, they reset the controller. This did not correct the failure and it repeatedly continued to occur. The current mileage was 17,404 and failure mileage was 13,670. Updated 10/25/07.

3 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2006

Air-bag warning lights come on intermittently sometimes remain on for miles. Dealer cannot duplicate problem. Question is, will they work when needed?.

4 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2006

Airbag lights continue to come on intermittently. Previous truck was traded in as the dealer could not fix the issue. Now, the new truck is experiencing the same issue. I think this should be kept track of in case of a widespread issue concerning airbag warning lights in similar vehicles (2005 Dodge Dakota).

5 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2005

I was involved in a single car accident with my 2005 Dodge Dakota truck. In which I hit a pole. I was driving the speed limit which was 35 mph. When I hit the pole my air bags did not go off. When I called the dealer they said that there are sensors in the middle of the bumper. When I took pictures of the bumper they show that I hit it within inches of the center of the bumper. When I took those pictures to the dealer they said that the sensors are on the support beams. I would like to know why they didn't go off and if there was or is any recalls on this.
