"takata recall" I have been receiving emails from NHTSA about these air bag inflators. No one has contacted me about replacing or repairing this recall.
2005 Dodge Dakota. Consumer writes in regards to no communication from dealership about driver airbag inflator recall notice repairs.
Takata recall. On 2/4/2016 I took my truck to courtesy Chrysler/Dodge/ram located at 9207 adamo drive east in tampa,FL. The airbag inflator was replaced. As soon as I drove off of the dealer's lot I noticed that the seatbelt warning light and alarm would not turn off. I immediately returned to the dealership. The parts and service manager said the dealership was not responsible, although I explained that the problem did not exist before my visit to the dealership. The dealership said that they would have to order a new seat belt buckle at a cost of $125. 00 + labor. I refused to order and pay for a part to fix a repair that did not exist prior to my visit. I was making an 11 hour drive the next day to start a new job and I needed to have the problem resolved. The parts and service manager was very unprofessional. I left the dealership. The seatbelt warning light and alarm still continue to go off and on although I always wear my seatbelt. Note that I called the fiat Chrysler automobiles (fca) recall assistance center on 2/4/2016 after I returned from the dealer. I described the seatbelt problem but fca was just as uncaring as the dealer.
I have received several recall notices for driver airbag inflator. Every time I call the local Dodge dealer in maui, hawaii, I am told they don't have the parts and don't know when they will have them. This could go on indefinitely.
I received a safety recall notice (14v-354) in the mail in December of 2014. This notice pertained to my 2005 Dodge Dakota and the possibility that it contained faulty airbag inflators. On this same date I contacted cutter Dodge in honolulu, hi to schedule a service appointment - I made this appointment via their website (and provided full details of the recall, etc. ), as well as over the telephone shortly thereafter. My appointment was scheduled/confirmed for the following week. I attempted to drop my vehicle off for this scheduled service but was informed that they did not have any of the necessary parts at the time, and would not until mid-January (at which time they anticipate having only a limited supply). My concern is that I have been, and currently am, driving a potentially unsafe vehicle and am afraid that I have to wait until at least mid-January for this issue to be corrected. What if the dealer still does not have any/enough parts in mid-January? how much longer will I have to wait if they are unable to accommodate me at that time? it seems that the dealer should receive enough parts to fix this issue in all of the vehicles affected by this recall (seems to be quite a large number), and not just a limited number so as to only help people on a first-come first-served basis. Please let me know what options are available to me so that this issue can get corrected as soon as possible and/or so that I do not have to possibly wait beyond mid-January for a solution. Thank you. Ryan.
