The rear end has a popping noise when putting in park Dodge house says thats normal (I have never had a truck do that before) and u joints are good, and I reported it to them when my warranty was good and now my warranty is out and I have all these repairs that I cannot afford !!.

6 Front Suspension Hub problem of the 2001 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 12/08/2004

I have a 2001 Dakota 2 wheel drive with a bad front suspension. It only 54000 miles on it. I have had the bushing replaced three times and now they tell me I need upper control arm bushings, both upper ball joints, and a r/f hub bearing. Upper ball joints are very loose. I was wondering why I am always fixing the front suspension and if there is anything I can do to get this problem solved. I heard that there is a recall on the four wheel drive Dakota's, but not the two wheel drive. Could you please help me figure out what to do/ thanks, stephen.

Shudder reappeared ~6k miles later. Replaced rear discs since older ones were beyond turning. Shudder reappeared @ 34k. After much discussion with dealer and Dodge cust no-service, front hubs were replaced and front rotors turned due to TSB. Now at 38k miles shudder is back.

9 Front Suspension Hub problem of the 2003 Dodge Dakota

Failure Date: 03/01/2003

This is a 2003 Dodge Dakota pick-up with 2 wheel drive. Upper ball joint and front hub bearing are both bad, and must be replaced . This vehicle has only 34,900 miles on it. Started making a loud humming sound when making a turn and was taken to repair shop for inspection. We thought maybe it just needed a front end alignment. Was told by the repair shop the alignment could not be done and the repairs were very much needed for our safety. Reading on line I see many complaints about the same problem, but Chrysler has only agreed to recall 4 wheel drive vehicles with this same problem. If Dakota's with 2 wheel drive are having the same problem, why are they not included in the recall?.
