While driving the vehicle the shifter link bushing detached from the cable and came off the transmission causing the shifter to start floating and I lost all control of the shifter so I could not take my car out of the gear it got stuck in.
I purchased it and within two months the cars breaks were slow to respond, or would lock up and the parking break did not work. The car suddenly shifts into neutral while driving on the high way and surface roads, loses power and has nearly caused multiple accidents. Other times when I try to shift, it does not respond. Car stalls going up hill and at stoplights. I took it for diagnostics twice and both places stated that the symptoms are mirroring the earlier recall problems. One said the spark plugs are ruined from some other issue. When I called the manufacturer they stated that it had previously been repaired on recall. I contacted the dealership where I purchased it and they told me the car was sold "as is". The problems only got worse. The battery would go dead all of the time. I replaced it and still had the same problem. Windows wouldn't go up and down properly, sun roof would not open and close. Every time I used the blinker to turn right, the windshield wipers would turn on. Now they will not turn off at all. It also turned out that the tires had dry rot. When I went in for an oil change I was told that oil was back flowing into a part of the car that it shouldn't. Now I have to pay $300+ plus towing to have the dealership do a diagnostic so that I can ask the manufacturer to cover the cost of repairing it (again) because the first repairs done when the previous owner had it, did not work. The car is a death trap. At this point the car has been sitting until I can afford repairs because ive been scared to death to drive it. Too many near misses, once with a semi, when the car shut down while doing almost 70mph. It should be illegal to sell this car to anyone new or used. I have an appointment at the Dodge/Chrysler dealership for repairs, but since it was supposedly "fixed" previously, I have very little faith that it can or will be properly repaired.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v674000 (power train); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the braking distance was extended. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 15v800000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the brake failure persisted. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the rpm became elevated; however, the transmission failed shift above 2nd gear. While attempting to park, the transmission remained in neutral and failed to shift to park. The vehicle was parked, and the wheels were chocked to keep the vehicle from rolling away. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic, where the contact was informed that the shifter cable had detached from the transmission. The contact was informed that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 25v674000 (power train). The dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available for the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that if the recall had not caused the failure, there would be no assistance with any additional repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Loss of brakes at random times. Pedal will go all the way to the floor before stopping.
Driving down a country road as I was about to turn into my driveway the dash stated " check electric brake system" as I tried to apply the brake. I was safely able to guide the vehicle into the driveway without injury or damage to the vehicle. No dealer, independent service center, manufacturer, or others have inspected the vehicle. Inspection of the vehicle can be done and when started the same message as stated is displayed. At the time as I pressed on the brake it pushed back against me being unable to engage them, this was accompanied by the brake light warning on the dash which was then followed by, " check electric brake system".
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated while driving approximately 40-50 mph, the contact heard an abnormal sound. The contact stated that he had heard the cable brake and noticed while depressing the brake pedal that the vehicle was not decelerating. The contact stated that the flywheel had detached from the vehicle and the clutch was damaged. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the brake booster was leaking and that the brake cable linkage needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
I just bought this car last month, from my knowledge it has not been repaired, this is my first time buying a car or I would have never purchased it, one month after getting the car I finally receive a history report and I find out I have 6 recalls, have been having so many issue with this car since the week I purchased it, the speedometer does not work in heat and apparently the blower motor to the a/c as well huge inconvenience buying in the summer, the recalls state I have issue to look forward to in the winter as well. My parking brake does not work and I notice that the car rolls slightly in park, I have to press down hard on the gas just to pull out of my parking space in the morning it does not shift into reverse properly and I have been told by many people my brakes are bad despite them being changed recently and another recall says it’s a brake pad issue, I cannot test the other recalls because I am not a mechanic and I have not gotten into an accident but I would like to know if my airbags work and why my engine is having problems despite paying to get it fixed and still having issues.
I recently purchased a 2013 Dodge Dart sxt and not even 6 months later while driving this vehicle I noticed there was a loss of pressure with my clutch pedal when shifting gears. It initially seemed to return to normal and work fine at times but very quickly declined. At first I'd have some pressure in the clutch but that quickly went to having none whatsoever and the clutch not coming up from the floor. This happened while I was driving and just to get my vehicle home I had to get up to around 2500 rpm to shift. The clutch stays engaged so to stop the vehicle at a light for example you have to quickly shift to neutral or shut the car off. To begin driving again it has to be in gear but it moves right away so you are not able to have vehicle in gear while at idle. It's very dangerous and while looking into what the potential causes might be I noticed that this is a very common problem with these make and model cars especially between the years 2013-2015. I saw one article stating there recently was a recall for these exact issues with these vehicles but when attempting to look up my VIN it doesn't show anything?.
While pressing down on the brake , it became very hard to fully pushed down . Makes a noise that sounds like air is being pushed through while the brake is being pressed down . Delayed stops due to it being so hard to press the brake down . Brake light comes on along with “service electric braking system” on dashboard .
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v800000 (service brakes, hydraulic) and 19v293000 (power train) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The local dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the brake pedal was soft while depressed and hesitated to respond while driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that they would follow up with her once the parts were available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
06/08/2021. My daughter stopped to gas up at costco when a notice came up on the dash "engage parking brake to prevent rollback". She immediately called me to make me aware of it. Once home she again get this message. 06/09/2021. My daughter drove to school with no issues. However, leaving school she was going slowly over a speed bump when the car automatically shifted into park. She lost acceleration and the car rolled backwards off of the speed bump while she was wrestling with controlling the steering. The car shuts off and she was unable to start it again. She immediately called me and told me the message displayed again from yesterday "engage parking brake to prevent rollback". Now the car won't start. I am now on my way to the school when she calls me back to say it started and she is on her way home. I told her to be very careful. 06/10/2021. I drove the car while my daughter followed me to the dealership. On the way to the dealership at every stop the message displayed "engage parking brake to prevent rollback". While at the dealership I explained the problem and I had brought all repair documents that stated the same issue occurred in a repair with my son (twice), with me, and now with my daughter. It all stem from gear shift cable/bushings/tcm/transmission, which then was covered under warranty or recall. I emphatically didn't want to waste time with a diagnostic when I am sure its related to past repairs. The service tech was trying to convince me it could be something else and the diagnostics will tell them the true cause. I was reluctant but agreed for the diagnostic. I did state that what that diagnostic will show is that the transmission/recall is faulty. 06/11/21. The service tech called me to say the car coded p07b4 [park positioning sensor]. However he never called it a transmission park positioning sensor because in my opinion this part should be covered under the transmission warranty (see manual - parts covered - transmission:).
When the brake pedal was push it was hard as a rock and no brakes, had to use the emergency brake to stop ,almost getting hit in a intersection. Found that the power brake booster pump had seized and check valve to booster had failed introducing engine oil into brake booster. Dealerships have claimed it was no problem when recall was issued and another said recall has expired. I thought they have up to 8 to 10 years to fix safety recalls.
Federal recall in 2013 Dodge Dart on brake booster, serviced in 2016 for recall one part replaced for recall, the hose because they didn't find contamination then! now my car is unsafe to drive ,sitting at crysler dealership now 2020 due to the brake booster manufacturing issue, as a safety recall ,I the customer should not be responsible for cost to fix federal recall in my vehicle!!! if all parts of recall were replaced back when recall was issued I would not be running into safety issues relating to my problems now! my brake pedal goes to the floor ,and is a safety hazard to drive with my family! safety recall r63 brake booster.
On 3 occasions. My clutch broke. I had it repaired 2 times and currently it went out again. I was driving during the time and lost power to my car. I also had replaced with the dealer my brake booster that went out 3 times. Frustrated.
In motion: loss of power - found oil in spark plug wells; dealership replaced well seals, plugs and ignition coil, continued to have problems; compression test was done and found all of my engine o rings were bad which would have happened at time of manufacturing. Had engine replaced at 100,000 miles in motion: brakes - brake pedal will suddenly go all the way to floor and cause difficulty breaking in time. Happens sporadically; no none cause stationary: electrical - car will unlock trunk instead of doors; fan knob will effect radio volume; bluetooth does not connect; happens sporadically; no none cause.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. While driving 4 mph, the brake pedal was extremely hard and would not depress. The contact had to apply the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the brake indicator illuminated after the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was towed to hertrich Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep (1147 e pulaski hwy, elkton, MD 21921, (443) 406-2001). The dealer stated that there were no failures with the brakes. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 93,000. The VIN was unknown.
My 2013 Dart has started having breaking issues recently, year 2013-2016 Darts has a recall on the brake assist in the past, and my issues are very similar. When stoped at a redlight, my car continues to roll forward slowly, enough that I have to push brake pedal completely down. And it takes a lot longer and more distance to slow down fast and safely, it's almost caused me several accidents , and has caused me to run a few red lights to avoid stopping late in the middle of the intersection, which I feel is unsafe , especially when I have my 3 kids with me.
Car flashes check engine light, turns on and off multiple times on its own, unexpectedly shifts into neutral, occasionally goes forward when in reverse (r), steering wheel locks while driving, takes a lot of pressure on the acceleration pedal to move forward.
I got in my parked car, started it up and tried to put the car in reverse but there was no tension when I lifted the lever on the shifter. The lever moved up and down and I could shift into any gear except reverse. Lifted shifter boot and found the reverse lockout cable was snapped. A month or so after, I was leaving my house and it was snowing. The roads were slick and as I got closer to the stop sign at the end of my street here in town, my car was sliding. Tried to use my emergency brake to get some traction so I could stop but, just like the reverse lockout cable lever, as I lifted the brake there wasn't any tension and the lever moved up and down freely. Luckily there weren't any oncoming cars in the intersection as I slid through. In both cases there wasn't a reason for these parts to suddenly stop working. Neither were used forcefully, my car has never been in an accident and I have 20 years experience driving manual transmissions. My car had less than 100k miles and neither were used excessively. Basically, the reason both of the parts just stopped working suddenly is unknown. I searched online for a replacement reverse lockout cable, I found that the whole shifter assembly has to be replaced as there was a difference in the length to correct a defect with the lockout cable (? yet no recall?) now I can't even find a replacement part. I contacted mopar to ask if any other Darts had recalls related to my issues but I was told my parts have already been tested and cleared by the NHTSA and there was nothing more to do. Regardless, I feel reverse and the emergency brake are both critical and could easily pose substantial risk if defective.
The parking brake will not engage. Does not hold car in position when applying the emergency brake. Car rolls when parking brake is applied.
Back in the beginning of 2019 I started having issues with the transmission. It was causing a jerking motion when I accelerated and I brought it into the dealership not once but twice. I initially had a code come up stating that I needed to service the transmission. It would come on and clear itself before I could get it looked at. That was the first time I brought it in and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. It continued to happen over the next six months or more and when I brought it back to them and discussed the recall on the transmission they dismissed me as that wasn't the issue but, at that point I had to have it towed into the shop because of this issue since I was unable to drive it. They still have not fixed the transmission recall and I have had to have my car sitting for the last year and 2 months due to my inability to drive it because of whatever issues that were going on that they never fixed. I am unsure of the damage that this has caused and I am hoping that you guys will be able to help me figure out what I can do to have them now fix my car. Since there is possibly additional damage done to my vehicle due to them dismissing me I feel that it is their responsibility to fix that damage as well. The date I gave was an approximate date since it has been so long I am unsure of the exact date but can get a copy of the documents from the dealership if needed.
Brake booster vaccum pump is leaking oil, causing car to smoke and have a burning smell. It was recalled on other models of the Dodge Dart but not this one, and it's having the same problem. When turning, parking, or braking.
The clutch stays stuck to the floor, then pressures up at times . I see many complaints about this online.
Brake-booster vacuum-tube is letting oil hit my brakes and when I stop the car it smokes and a really bad smell is sucked in by the a/c into the cabin area. This problem is also not letting my car stop in a short distance especially at highway speeds. This is word for word on the fca wedsite about the problem "brake-booster vacuum-tube routing may inadvertently allow oil to reach the brake-booster diaphragm in the event that the vacuum-pump check valve fails; oil may degrade the diaphragm and lead to a loss of brake assist, lengthening stopping distances and increasing the risk of a crash. " I have gone to every dealership in my area and because my car is not on the recall list I can't have the problem fixed. My fear is one day I may brake and the car goes up in flames. .
Takata recall this car is garbage ! Dodge shouldn't make this model anymore. I've been having problems two years in of having this car. I had to start changing tires so many time. Air always goes down, tires keep getting those air balls. (no I don't park close to the sidewalk or hit the sidewalk) my steering wheel always cracks everytime I turn it. My whole car shakes ! I press the brakes and it goes crazy. My engine messed up too (it had water inside) I had to fix some heating hose ! my window button stuggles to go up ?I had to change my battery three time ! keep in mind I got this car new. Zero everything ! for 6 years ! I've put so much money on a car I haven't even finished paying ! a car needs thing to get fixed but not like this! just isn't normal. Garage of a car! Dodge Dart sxt 2013 ! don't waste your money or time on this car. Save yourself.
Abs module developed an internal short. Abs module will not communicate with the vehicle's onboard computer. This results in the abs braking system disabling itself. Warning lights illuminate on dashboard abs, traction control and brake. Chrysler corporation will not warranty the abs module.
I never knew the car had a recall I only had the car a month.
I was on my way to work@ 0730 hrs, traveling on I 294 n/b, at a speed of approx 45/50 mph when I heard a loud pop. As I attempted to reduce my speed, to move out of the flow of traffic, I noticed my brakes were no longer functioning. I pulled the hand break up, which did not respond, I pushed it down and pulled it up a second time, which barely slowed my vehicle, but did allow me to coast to a slow stop on the shoulder. At this time, the hood of the vehicle was engulfed in flames. I exited the vehicle and a man who had been traveling behind me, pulled over to say that he had seen flames coming from my tail pipe, before the engine compartment burst into flame. I immediately called 911. I waited in the rain for illinois state police and the fire dept to respond. State police report#IL 0229900 was made upon the troopers arrival.
When applying brakes down hill, right front wheel shakes. Also can hear a rattle in right front wheel while driving on rough areas.
~tl the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 15v800000 (service brakes, hydraulic). Takata recall while my vehicle is in motion on street or highway my vehicle begins to jerk. Also when coming to a stop or having to use my brakes before making or coming to a turn I have to use excessive force to come to a complete stop or to slow down, when doing that my car begins to shake.
While driving, experiencing intermittent issues with low power during acceleration, back firing, misfiring, check engine light & traction control comes on, stays on. Cruise control will not work when this happens. After a few days, corrects itself and is ok for a day or so but continues again. Very concerning in traffic. Clutch went all the way to floor, took to dealership and so far not reoccurring (recall). Electrical issue, possible something staying open, draining battery. After sitting all day, car would not unlock, had to enter car with actual manual unlock. Upon opening, the dash lights were all flashing, the display screen was flashing unreadable images. All instrument panel lights came on, stayed on. When door shut, panel lights went off and the fuel and speedometer gauges starting jumping, opened the door, gauges stopped and lights came on. Wiper blades activated on their own, very slowly. Could not unlock any door or open trunk during this time. Jumped the car, started very quickly. Will need to replace the battery as it is not charging fully. Rear brakes are not wearing properly. . Car mileage 35,500. . Very unhappy with this car's performance.
