I have a 2013 Dodge Dart aero 6 speed manual, dual dry clutch, multi air turbo. I purchased vehicle in February 2017. 4 months later I had brought my vehicle into carsense for an oil change. Meanwhile I asked them to check the brakes also due to braking issues and my ebrake was not working properly and had a mind of it's own. It worked when it wanted to, but yet everything is in "great condition" says carsence. Mind you that I had just purchased this vehicle in February and it was recently inspected in January 2017. Service dept. Inspected my brakes and gave me the current measurements of existing brake pads left. About June 2018 I was coming up to a stop sign in a 25 mph side street with light traffic. I had trouble slowing down to a complete stop. When I managed to come to a complete stop I heard a loud bang. Here my driver's side rear rotor was severely smoking and I noticed my rotor was redhot. My rotor snapped completely in half. My shifter would randomly pop out of gear or the clutch would lightly stick, smelling exhaust odor I'm now pushing 62, 000 miles and what do you know. I am coming home into my development. I'm in second gear turning onto my lane and doing maybe 10 mph well it decides to pop out of gear and accelerates, redlining second gear(I'm assuming it thinks it's in second) and all dashboard lights are flashing steering wheel it locked. Car is now doing 80 mph in a 15 mph zone. My brakes are not working at all brake pedal is harder than hard. I have no control of this vehicle!! engine finally cuts out after I removed the key from the ignition. Comes to a screeching halt. Thank god. It wont start still to this day. . Oil in turbo and up the hose. Battery plays dead along with my instrument panel and my transmission needs a computer upgrade that's not even available for the 1. 4l turbo engine. . . It needs a tcm, new master cylinder.
I took my car in to have a recall fixed on my car. When I got my csr back I looked over the brake booster and lines and the only thing that was changed was the supply hose. After oil had been previously found. You can see the oil still soaked in places. The tech put on the invoice that she changed the booster but yet the booster was untouched with factory paint marks still in tacked. I left my car there and went in the next day to resolve this issue and they tried saying it was a misunderstanding. I dont see how saying you changed a part when you didn't is a misunderstanding. Mi was compensated a free detail that never expires in order for my boyfriend to take down his bad review. So they keep the csr another night and when I go to pick up my car I wanted to check it along with a mechanic from a different business. At this time my hood will not close due to a bent or snapped hood cable. The tech did not drop the transmission and forced the boosfer in and bound up my hood cable in the process. The pump and master cylinder hace still yet to be replaced as the r63 recall requires if engine oil is found. What makes me feel unsafe amd like they were trying to pkay with my life and safety of my family is they never tested the parts after they installed them. They lied on both invoices. Each one says the car came in at 77491 miles and left at 77493 miles and I neverdrove tge car off the lot or in because I didnt know if the brakes worked. How can a car have the same miles on 2 different maintenance appointments if the parts were tested after installation? my odometer read 77491. Same as when I first droped it off almost a week ago. So either they turned back a digital odometer or they never tested the parts they forced in. I dont know if they damaged anything else by forcing the booste but I domt like the idea of others putting my lifr in danger.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. While driving approximately 25 mph approaching a red light, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when it was depressed. The contact had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The check engine and brake warning indicators illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder and brake booster were contaminated and needed to be replaced. The contact received a recall notification for the brake booster system last year in may and the vehicle was repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the recurring failure. The vehicle was not repaired again. The NHTSA campaign number was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
Vehicle had sudden and total brake failure. The power brake booster and master cylinder failed suddenly without warning while driving on a residential street.
While driving the brakes failed, the pedal was hard to push and we heard an air noise from around the pedal. We nearly crashed into someone in the walmart parking lot. Dodge said that the master cylinder, and brake booster needed replaced. They would not cover any of the $1200. 00 cost.
I was backing out of parking spot and depressed the brakes to shift into reverse. As soon as I hit the brake there was a pop and a hiss. The brake pedal then became extremely difficult to depress and couldn't safely stop the car unless going 10 mph or slower. Sounds like a common occurrence as far as problems go. . . Probably the master cylinder and brake booster.
Pulled into a gas station and as I came to a stop a popping noise came from under the dash. The brake pedal became very firm, as if the engine were off, and I continued to roll forward and bumped the sidewalk. Minor damage, just scratches on the bottom of the bumper. I was able to limp the car home, and called the dealer the next day. After a few searches, it seemed the brake booster was to blame. The dealership told me that if there was motor oil in the brake booster, it was suggested that I replace the brake booster, vacuum pump, vacuum lines, and master cylinder. At 43,000 miles. I understand things break. But it sounds like they are aware there is a problem if they already know the other parts that need to be replaced along with it. It also seems a little early for the brake booster to crap the bed.
My 2013 Dodge Dart sxt has recently developed issues with the braking system. The brakes suddenly popped, followed by a hissing noise and the pedal then became very stiff to push. When pushed hard enough I was able to stop but it took significantly longer in order to stop. If I had been on the highway, traveling at 65 mph this issue may have been more serious. But lucky for me, I was only going 45 mph. I brought it to the Dodge/Chrysler dealership from which I bought it from. They looked it over and told me the brake booster, pump, pump line and master cylinder all need to be replaced in order for the issue to be resolved, resulting in an estimated cost of $1200. After hearing the cost of this repair, I went online to research the issue a little more. Only to find out that there is an ongoing investigation with this problem for my particular model of car but no recall has been issued yet. So I am providing you with this information with hope that it will help with the investigation process.
Brake pedal became very hard with accompanying air sound. Vehicle stopping was difficult and use of emergency brake was needed. Vehicle had to be towed to dealer as it could not be driven. Dealer is replacing master cylinder to correct the problem.
I noticed when I started the car and depressed the brake peddle it made a lot of air noise. When I came to a stop sign and tried to stop the brake was very hard to depress and the car took a very long time to stop. I pulled over and restarted the car hoping for a different result. Again the brakes made a lot of air noise, and I practically had to stand on the peddle to get it do depress, to come to a complete stop I had to utilize the emergency brake. I had to have car towed to garage, they replaced the brake booster, then as they pulled it out of the garage, it failed again. They had to replace the master cylinder and the brake booster again.
I was headed to the mall on day with my fiancee and child and while pulling up applying the brake at a red light. I heard what sound like a pop and my break pedal instantly became hard to press. I had to use almost all my leg strength to stop the car (to brake) before the red light. Very worried when the light turned green I drive through and used emergency brake to park in yhe parking lot. I repaired it myself after waiting on the part that was on back order for 3 weeks. I fixed it properly and 2 weeks later the same thing happened again. 7/30/15 I believe it could now be the master cylinder leaking into my booster. I am going to pull the master cylinder and put some pressure through it and see if it leaks as I press the push rod. I will surely let everyone know.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. While driving approximately 20 mph, the clutch became stuck and prevented the gears from shifting. The vehicle operated normally once the vehicle was turned off and restarted. The dealer stated that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 21,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. While driving 35 mph, the brakes failed. The dealer stated that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 28,000. Updated 8/28/cn updated 11/25/2014.
Brake system failure. Starts with a light sound much like a pressurized system releasing pressure, then progresses into sounding like an air brake system on a truck at which point the brakes fail and will not stop the vehicle. I've read dozens of reports about this online. Reported to be a faulty brake booster, possibly master cylinder. I've also reported this to Dodge at the early stages when it was just a light sound, and was told it was normal. But from similar reports, this is not normal.
I just recently purchased a 2013 Dodge Dart sxt rally with 2. 0 engine. I put about 3500 miles on the vehicle and began to notice a whoosh of air noise when depressing my brake pedal. A couple days went by and the whooshing noise began to get worse I also began to experience a loss of brakes when backing out of my driveway and while driving on the road I noticed the brakes began to fade quickly resulting in the pedal becoming super stiff and having no brake pressure on the pads to the rotors. A couple more days went by and I completely lost brakes in the car while driving resulting in me having to use the parking brake to stop the car. I took my car to the Dodge dealer and explained what had happened, a service tech test drove the car and almost crashed it. He explained the car has no brakes and he'd have to troubleshoot the problem. They came back and said to me that they would have to replace the power booster and possibly the master cylinder. I do not feel safe driving this car now. I have read multiple reports of catastrophic brake failure and parking brake failure on the same model year Dodge Darts. I feel there needs to be a recall on this brake situation. What is Dodge going to do, to ensure that these power boosters/master cylinders do not continue to fail?.
This is the second time the brakes went out on my car. . . The first time was during rush hour traffic at 3500 miles thank god, I was able to pull into a parking lot before I had an accident. Today at 5700 miles it happens again. They replaced both power brake booster and master cylinder the first time it happened and now it happened again!!! im am so angry!!!.
