1 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2019

The parking brake has failed on two occasions, once while stationary when it was at the dealership. It crashed into a car in their parking lot in 2016. The vehicle has been in and out of the dealership over the last four years. It was in the dealership in 2015-2016 thirteen times for oil leaks and the engine either dying or almost seizing while in motion. This resulted in my vehicle starting on fire in late 2016 early 2017. The repair for the fire damage was covered by my insurance company and it was subsequently fixed by a different dealership after that. More recently, it was in my driveway and rolled into my truck and damaged the front of the vehicle's bumper while stationary with the parking brake was engaged. The symptoms with the engine have also started to reappear while in motion in 3rd or 4th gear. . . It starts to act like it's going to completely die. Needless to say, I have it back in the dealership for diagnostics. Some of the recalls listed on this website sound like things I have experienced, please let me know if there is anything I can do. My time is the main thing I care about at this point and don't want to spend another 2 years endlessly in and out of the dealership. I just want a car that operates normally.

8 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2016

The brakes is failing to work while my car is in motion. These happens most noticeably when I'm driving in a slower pace, like in a traffic jam or when I need to slow down and stop after driving in a normal speed, because of a traffic ahead or anything else. The brake pedal when pressed (which also makes a sound like a small air brake) goes way down to the floor that an immediate additional pumps on the pedal is needed to make the brakes work. This brake issue is very dangerous and the parts for the recall should be available ASAP before many people get injured or killed by these safety issue. Your utmost act of importance is well deserved by your customers.

10 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2016

About 1 year ago, the brakes went out while going down a hill on the way to work. They said it was the brake booster and some other part related to that. The brakes have not been working correctly since it was fixed, but the dealership insists that they are fine. I left the car with them for 2 weeks and they could not get the brakes to fail. On 1/15/16 when I pulled into my driveway, the brakes gave way again. I backed up and drove in again, and they did it repeatedly. It was like they couldn't catch or something, you could feel the jerk of the brakes as I tried to apply them. We have been given the run-around for almost a year, and were told that the brakes were fixed and fine. We received a recall notice from Chrysler saying there is no permanent fix for the problem, yet they refuse to let us past the entry level people operating the phone. I am in danger every time I have to drive my car. We have gotten no where in the past year with Chrysler, and have been repeatedly lied to about the safety of the brakes. The proof of those lies is in the recall which clearly says there is no fix for this problem at the present time. That means that my brakes could fail at any time and I cannot go about my normal life in a panic about driving to and from work, or the grocery store, or have anyone in the car with me, because I am always preparing for an inevitable crash. I should not have to live this way, and they have known all along that there was a problem, and have done nothing to make it right, but have done everything to pretend it did not exist. I should not be forced to continue paying for a car that will one day result in my death or injury. This car should be bought back from me if there is any fairness at all, otherwise I have paid on time for two years on a car that is faulty and dangerous. This puts me at a disadvantage when going to buy a new car with no trade in.

13 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2015

Brake power assist failure. I heard a pop and then the brakes started pushing back at me and making a hissing noise. I almost didn't have a chance to stop and the guy behind me almost hit me. If my elderly mom was driving there would be no way she could press down on the brake hard enough and we would have a much bigger problem. These companies need to be held accountable. Thanks.

14 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2015

We were just leaving on a weekend trip, stopped for gas and started to pull out from driveway when the brakes failed and we ended up halfway in the road. Thankfully it was clear at the time and thankfully we were 3 blocks from home. The brake pedal became very stiff and has a whooshing sound. I'm so upset with the quality of this car. I've had several issues with it since the day I purchased it and after multiple trips to the dealership none of the issues have been resolved except one I figured out on my own. I will not suggest anyone buy a Dart and expect to have all these issues dealt with at no cost as after reading multiple complaints I see its a common issue.

18 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2015

This is a follow-up report date of incident: 11/18/2014, NHTSA id number: 10659435. 2013 Dodge Dart sxt brakes had failed once before, about six months ago. Brake booster was to blame and replaced by dealer. Dealer stated that this was the first they had heard of the problem and I took it as a fluke. Yesterday I experienced the same thing - pop from the brake pedal then no brakes. Towed to dealer for repair - again! I bought this car to be safe and reliable. I love the car, but it's neither of those things. Thankfully I've been lucky both times and I have not killed myself or others with this defect. The underlying problem needs found and addressed ASAP.

19 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2015

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. While driving approximately 45 mph, the brakes sounded as if air were present. The vehicle would not stop when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the brake booster failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

20 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2015

I was at a drive-thru and when I went to pull up in line my brakes failed and I had to pull the emergency brake to stop. The brake pedal was very hard and would not go down. I parked the car and had it towed to a dealer. It was the brake booster. I had an extended warranty and had it fixed. I had been on the interstate earlier. If it had failed then, I do not know what would have happened. This was a very scary incident and I am concerned that the new part could fail or that others could have this problem and not be as fortunate as I was.

21 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2014

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while reversing out of a parking space, the contact attempted to apply the brakes and the vehicle made an abnormal popping sound. The brakes failed to engage and the contact had to depress the brake pedal with both feet in order to stop the vehicle from crashing into another vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 54,530.

22 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2014

I was pulling into a parking space at a low rate of speed between two vehicles. Putting my brakes on to put the car in park, the brakes failed and went to the floor. The car went over the curb, over bushes, between two small trees and stopped approximately 6 feet in the sand. If there wouldn't have been sand it may have gone further. I have filed a complaint with Chrysler. The representative said he did not drive the car. He put his foot on the brake and accelerated. This will not tell you anything. Then he proceeded to ask me who put on my brakes or changed my brakes. Since I had only owned the car for 2 weeks I said I didn't know and assumed that it was Chrysler. This car has issues. The 2nd day I owned it, it died at a red light. Which the dealership said it was from vapor lock. That couldn't have happened as the salesman put gas in the night before and didn't top off the tank. Then the 3rd day I had it, it was jerking up a bridge in heavy traffic. The dealership said it was hill assist. I can't find that anywhere in the description of the car. He said I wasn't use to the car. I want someone to step up and take responsibility from either the dealership or Chrysler. I don't want this car. It has mechanical issues.

23 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2012

A few short weeks after purchasing the 2013 Dodge Dart rallye 1. 4l turbo; the bluetooth failed to stay connected. Took it to get serviced at least three times due to this issue. In addition, just recently (2014) the emergency brake has failed to work when parked on an incline; not all of the time but sometimes. Also recently noticed, the cruise control button on the steering wheel fails to work all of the time. Not until you stop and restart the vehicle does the cruise control "decide" to work once again. Even so, in the first few months of obtaining the vehicle I noticed chip marks on the front bumper. As 2014 has approached, there are about a couple hundred chip marks on the front bumper but the car has not been driven in areas to cause this much damage. The Dodge Dart rallye's were supposed to contain chip guard which does not make sense as to why the front bumper paint has chipped off so badly!!!.
