My Dodge Dart was parked in my driveway after going to the store. I went inside to put down my things. When I went back into my garage to close it, I heard a loud popping noise. At this point my car began to roll down my driveway. The car rolled across the street and crashed into my neighbors 2 vehicles. After going back into my house and getting my keys, I unlocked the car and found the parking brake/emergency brake had been released.

Pressed break pedal to place shift vehicle into drive. While pressing pedal, I heard an audible popping noise and felt a spring like vibration through the break pedal. After the noise the car slowly started to roll forward despite break being pressed. Now when pressing the break, there is a hard pressure/resistance along with a loud hissing noise. To attempt to stop the vehicle, the break pedal has to be pressed extremely hard. The breaks are unable to stop the car in a safe distance.

Engine excessively burns oil. Brakes, during a stop, made a popping noise almost causing me to strike another vehicle. Brake pedal now hard to push, vehicle needs significantly longer to stop. Vehicle was in motion when the brakes failed, city street, 35 mph.

The first time my breaks went out I was sitting in a drive thru and we heard a loud popping noise and the breaks became hard to push down. It took longer to stop driving home to be towed. The second time the same thing happened but we were driving this time and with this one the traction control also went out. This is the second time in 9 months that I have had my break system replaced. This is a major safety hazard as I could have killed someone seeing as though I had no breaks to stop. I drive long distances for work on major freeways that are very busy in the morning and at night and had this happened while I was on one of those freeways, someone would likely have died or at the very least been severely injured. This is uncalled for.
At 70mph on the interstate I had to brake, my breaks made a popping noise and an air sound, and did not slow the car down at all. I was unable to even move the break pedal, it was rigid. At that time I had to use the emergency brake to stop the car. It had to be towed to a dealership and I am in the process of replacing the brake booster which is costing me $800 out of pocket and it may need more after that they wont know until they replace that first. Absolutely nothing to do with the brakes is covered under powertrain even though this is obviously a manufacture defect that is currently under investigation. This was a very scary and dangerous situation that has already happened to far to many people and a recall should have already been made.
