I own a 2016 gt Dart with just over 37,000 miles on it. For the last two weeks I have been experiencing the engine shutting off while driving neighborhood speeds shortly after starting the car for the first time that day. . . From research and the symptoms I've been getting I believe it could be linked to the oil and oil change light. However, I've checked the oil levels and if anything there might be too much oil in the car. The oil life meter is in the single digits and the oil change light will not come on but should be at this point. I will hear like half a ding and it tries to come on the screen for a split second but that's about it here is an example of what will happen when the engine shuts off: start the car for the first time that day and the engine turns over fine drive out of my neighborhood on to the main road and get up to a speed of ~40mph while driving the engine shuts off, no longer able to accelerate, battery indicator dings and light turns on, and all electronics (radio, a/c. . . ) remain on. I pull over (get flipped off and honked at - I love atl. . . ), put the car in park, and turn everything off attempt to turn the engine back over, may take 5-10 seconds or 1 or 2 times (I have a push start) engine turns over and I never have another problem for the rest of the day.

While driving my car on a busy road my my car started to loss power, so I turned the car off and it would'nt start back up. This happended in June 2020. I called the tow truck after about a hour in the rain once the tow truck pulls up the car finally starts and I get the car home. It shuts off again assoon as get in my yard. Checked the fuses, battery, alternator, etc. Replaced a 200amp fuse at the battery car worked fine for a few months. Bam the car will not start once again. All light are on, battery is charge fully thedarn carjust wont turn on. This is a harzard computer checks not one recal on this electical unknow issue, now I have a red box in my yard that looks pretty. Many people are having the same electrical issue, but when I called Dodge they said there are no recalls on this vehicle.

While driving the vehicle it will randomly have complete loss of power without warning and the battery light would turn on. The Dodge dealer found a code u0415 ( abs problem) and said because of that code engine shut off, $260 to fit that, but the problem still persist. This is the 3rd time after a fix that the car still randomly shutting off in a neighborhood speed 30mph. This is extremely dangerous and I am in disbelief nothing has been done about this. Are we waiting for someone to die to take action ?.
The car started randomly shutting off, at a stop or wouldn't start all together. After about a week of random stalling and shut offs, I took it to a mechanic. He said that it has a manufacturers defect where the car thinks it has low oil, it doesn't even have to be low. Have been adding oil and checking consistently for about a month and recently it refused to turn on. Got a jump and the car started. Had the battery and alternator checked at auto parts store , car started up no problem, and both were fine, battery fully charged. Not more than 10 minutes after testing the car would not turn on. Jumped it and it started, drove home. Again, tried to start it a few hours later and nothing, needed another jump. Used a scanner to check for computer issues and nothing came up. After driving the car about 10 miles, shut it off and again needed a jump. The car seems to just shut off or not start for no real reason. One mechanic could not figure out the issue, the other had it a couple of weeks before blaming the oil issue and now this. No recalls on this car, already checked the VIN number. Not sure what to do about this car at this point without spending more on it than it is worth. 2014 Dodge Dart, 98,000 miles.

I have had several problems with this car. The main problem is when the oil gets low, the oil light doesn't come on, and the car shuts down. This causes the steering wheel to lock up, and it becomes hard to properly pull the car over safely. When will Dodge recall this engine?!!.

I have a 2016 Dodge Dart rallye and it shuts off on my when driving it also hesitate this car is like a death trap I'm afraid of getting hit.
When my oil is low, there is no warning on dash, my car just shuts off. We have taken it to a few dealerships in south jersey and they said this is a common issue with the Dodge Darts. If my husband was not a mechanic and changed oil early, I would have this issue every time!.
Issue #1: brakes when attempting to come to a stop (whether it be a red light, a stop sign, or a sudden stop due to heavy traffic on the highway) the brakes fail to fully grasp making me susceptible to ramming the person in front of me from behind. Issue #2: engine? on two separate occasions, the car has suddenly just shut off while driving. There is no prior warning to this occurring. Engine just completely shuts off and that leads me to sudden misses in being hit from both incoming traffic and traffic from behind. Battery is brand new so that is not the issue, especially since the car will eventually start after several attempts. I took it to my local mechanic who was unable to duplicate the issue. First time it happened was in August 2018, the past time it happened was November 2018.
Engine shuts off for no reason. . . . Causing loss of power. . . .
I started my vehicle this morning and it started rough and was surging. At takeoff the vehicle was driving strangly. Slowed to make a uturn, turned to the left slightly and my steering wheel locked, car shut down and was barely able to brake to slow down. I almost ran a man over trying to stop as I could not steer. The battery symbol popped up on the dash. I popped car in park. Removed key. Restarted vehicle and it took a good 5-10 seconds before turning over. There was hesitation upon start. After beginning to drive it seemed to be driving normally. . This seems to be a bit of a ticking time bomb and a very large safety issue and seems to be a known issue across all models.
I have been recently having issue with my 2016 Dodge Dart which I have only had for exactly a year this past oct. While driving in motion the car can just shut off. It has happened while on city streets as well as highways. I have torn my car to get testing where there is no code found and no lights come back on once the car starts up. I was told my battery was no good a couple months back replaced the battery and now car troubles again. I have been reading a lot of reviews where this is happening to a lot of people. This is extremely dangerous and I am in disbelief nothing has been done about this. Are we waiting for someone to die to take action ??????.
About two to three weeks ago my breaks completely went out. I was driving and all of a sudden my foot was to the ground and my car was barely stopping. Took it to a shop and they told me my break line snapped and the fluid contaminated my breaks. Needed to replace everything on the front end (breaks, pads, break line, etc. ) fast forward to about two weeks agoi'm backing out of a driveway onto a main, super busy road, I shift into drive and my car dies. I press the gas and my car won't move. I had to turn my car off and on again in the middle of traffic to get it to start up. This happened again a couple days later as I was backing out of my own driveway. Backed out perfectly fine, put it into drive and it dies. Won't move when you press on the gas. Turn the car off and then back on and it drives again. Finally, today (August 23) I backed out of my driveway and put it in drive. Nothing bad happened then, but as I was coming up to a light and slowing down to turn, my cars battery light comes on and it won't go faster when I hit the gas. I pull into the auto repair shop that was there (thankfully) stopped the car and turned it off. When I tried to start it this time, it wouldn't start. I gave the guys at the shop my keys and info and just got a call that my car had no oil and they think it shut down to a safety feature. But my car was telling me I still had a 23% oil life. There were no warnings prior to the car shutting down. I do not feel safe in this car anymore, especially since I use it to deliver in and I commute to school. I never know when the next time it's going to stall out. And I don't want to get into an accident. Especially when I'm on the clock at work.
Engine shutdown while driving. Appears to be sensor detecting low oil and rather than triggering the mil or a low oil indicator, it shuts the engine down. Happened to my wife while she was driving on a highway. Engine power loss, and also loss of power steering and braking. All dash lights came on, radio continued playing, and lights kept working so it wasn't a complete electrical power loss but a controlled engine shutdown.
I have a 2015 Dodge Dart se and its been nothing but issues! in 2016 I was on the highway going 65mph and all sudden my fucking car shut off completly! I had to immediately turn it back on and shift into 4th gear because my car started slowing down while and I had to pull over! im so sick of this model and after reading about others having the same issues its just ridiculous and dangerous! I got it checked and they said everything looked okay and they didn't find any issues. So cars just turn off by themself while driving for no reason?! fast forward to 2017, the engine light comes on for the first time and I take it to a Dodge dealership in killeen TX and I find out it was the thermostat and they told me there was nothing wrong and that I could drive to alaska and back with no issues. So I leave and a day later the engine light is gone like it was never there. And here it is 2018 and the damn engine light is back on again. I take it to firestone on base and guess what the hell they tell me?! you guessed right! the damn thermostat. At this point I'm just pissed and frustrated and they tell me I'm looking at a $500 fix and that this is a common issue with the Dodge Dart! why was I not told this when the car was purchased! OH and it gets better. On 25march2018 I was on the highway going about 60mph and you won't believe what happened. . . . Ding ding ding right again! my fucking piece of shit Dodge Dart turns the fuck off! I don't know if theres a damn recall or not but I know I'm not the only Dodge Dart owner who is having this issue and I should've been told about these dangerous ass problems before I poured my hard earned money into a goddamn deathtrap. I'm calling the dealership tomorrow to figure out what the fuck needs to happen. I'm not trying to die let alone have my babies in the damn car and something happen. Do not purchase any Dodge Darts if you want to live!.
On the first drive of the day within the first mile the car shuts off. The starter grinds when trying to restart and after several minutes will turnover and then drives fine. Has occurred six times most recently sat 11-4 after turning left on a level surface the car shut down and coasted to a stop. Took three tries to restart and then drove fine.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. While the vehicle was idling at a stop light, the vehicle lost engine power and shut off without warning. The contact placed the vehicle in park and restarted the vehicle. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle jerked and slowly lost power, but never shut off. The contact moved the vehicle to the road shoulder and then drove home with the hazard lights activated until the power returned to normal. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 66,100.
While I was driving my Dart on the street, it shut off into nuetral and the gear box lit up red. I tried pressing on the gas and it was just stalling not moving at all. I had to put car in park (in the middle of an intersection)turn it off and turn it back on a few times before I could get it into drive again. The next day, the same thing happened when I started the car the whole gear box lit up and when I put it into drive it was on neutral and was stalling the car would not move!.
The car shuts off while I am driving-shuts off at stop sign, traffic light, or if I am turning in.
I purchased my Dodge Dart at 21,000 miles. 30,000 miles car shuts off on highway. Total power loss. Dodge was able to limit the problem however ran rough and at about 45000 miles car shifted hard now at 70000 Dodge tells me it's the transmission valve body. 3,000 dollar repair. At this point car is not worth 3000. Still shuts off completely while driving. Transmission control module is recalled for the 2013 Dart however not my VIN# ????? I see tons of people with the same issues even cases against Dodge for this model. However they are unwilling to help me out with any issues I bring to their attention. Unfortunate. For me.
That vehicle just shuts off has I'm driving.
Vehicle was purchased used November 2016. Vehicle has around 37000 miles. While driving the vehicle it will randomly have complete loss of power and the battery light would turn on. Also, when I would try to start the vehicle after it shut off it would take a few attempts to start the vehicle again. In the past week it had happened 4 times. I have noticed it happens within 10 minutes of turning on the car and it has been sitting for 6+ hours. In one incident I was turning onto a major road and it shut off while cars were coming. This is an extreme hazard toward my safety and others.
When starting to slide on ice a notification flashes where your mileage should show but it disappears so quick due to the fact that the engine shuts down for a few seconds along with all electrical inside and outside of the vehicle ( no speedometer no stereo no touch screen no lights in or out) however while sliding if you let your foot off the break the engine and all the lights seem to reboot and the car gains power again. Not safe and scary as hell when driving in a upstate NY snow storm.
Driving to work on interstate 696 driving through royal oak west bound, the engine just shuts off, and shows on the dash engine trouble and electric symbol as well, lucky I was in the left lane and was able to get over, but it has been doing this since I got the car , dealer states they fixed it 3 times still doing the same thing. I have all the papers work since it started at 5000 miles.
My knee hit the ignition key while driving to dallas and the engine shut down. I was able to pull the car over, figure out what happened and resumed my trip.
While driving in the morning in a neighborhood speed limit of 30, I decrease speed to come to a full stop and suddenly the vehicle shuts off engine power and power steering at approximately 10mph. Vehicle was unable to start until the 3rd attempt. Had the vehicle towed to dealer and they were unable to diagnose the issue until the vehicle stalled the 2nd time. They updated pcm/tcm, but still had stalling issues. This vehicle had stalled over 5 times and the dealer were not able to pin point the issue. My vehicle is now at approximately 15,400 miles. I feel like I'm on the edge and unsafe every time I get behind the wheel. Also had trouble with the automatic headlights not turning on and as well as the rear passenger windows not closing.
Vehicle is the 1. 4l multiair turbo model with the ddct automatic transmission. Waiting in a parking lot, stopped in event traffic, car began emitting smoke from under the hood. After a couple minutes, with the smoke intensifying, the vehicle shut off and would not restart immediately afterwards. Right before the shutoff, the low oil pressure indicator came on. The vehicle had been running no more than 20 minutes and there were no other malfunction indicators illuminated on dash, nor had there ever been prior. The aaa provider confirmed with me that visually everything seemed to be fine and in proper working condition with all fluid levels in acceptable ranges. Vehicle has been towed to the dealership and is currently being investigated. Vehicle was ordered may 11, 2013 and received August 19, 2013. Currently has 5555 miles. This even sounds almost identical to complaint NHTSA id number: 10496762 quoted below in its entirety: the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while in a parking lot idling, smoke started to emit through the vents and the vehicle stalled. The contact mentioned that the oil pressure low warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,600 and the current mileage was 2,000.
