Everytime I go to the gas station to pump gas I get a huge splash of gas all over me and my vehicle. I was doing some research and I think its covered as a recall but Dodge said it was not when I called. I am going to print out the recall notice and bring it in. How can you help me get this dangerous problem resolved as many other people have the same problem. Especially when you get it on your work clothes and smell like gasoline all day and left gas spill on the car, gas station concrete etc. Not so pleasant. Its been ongoing for I would say over a year and the over flow is getting worse and squirting everywhere. So scared to pump gas and stand far away so splash does not hit me and clean up as best as I can everytime I pump gas.
Every time I fill up the vehicle there is a tremendous amount of gas that splashes out before the pump turns off. It goes all over the vehicle and the ground.
2005 Dodge Durango fuel spills at gas pump.
I own a 2005 Dodge Durango and at about 68,000 miles it started spewing gas from the filler tube just after the pump clicks off. The first time this happened I thought it was just the gas pump but at every refueling since the initial incident the same thing happens. After doing some research on this issue I found that Dodge had recalled several 2005 Durangos but my VIN was not included in the recall. I feel Dodge has underestimated the scope of the recall needed to correct this issue. Gas being spewed out of the filler tube is not only a danger to those refueling and surrounding the area where refueling is occurring but also harmful to the environment. I would estimate about 3 to 4 cups of gas spew out in each instance.
Fuel splashes up the filler when refueling - started in November 2010 and has occurred on last 4 fill-ups.
When refueling gas spills from the filler tube when the nozzle clicks off. This has occurred 5 or 6 times in a row since November 15, 2010. It has been a continuous problem since it began. This occurs at fill up. It happens at various gas stations, so it is not a gas pump fault. This is the same condition reported in campaign 05v034000 and 09v003000. My vehicle VIN is not included in the recall, but it has the same defect symptoms as described in the recall. Chrysler was contacted. Chrysler will not include it in the recall, but said they may help with the repair pending a dealers report.
When refilling the vehicle gasoline squirts out of the recovery tube. The happens after every fill up, it doesn't matter if you fill up quick or slow. After the shutoff engages fuel spills all over you, the Durango and the ground.
Gas spills when pumping gas started at 98322 miles. Took it to a Dodge dealer and the dealer said it was not under the recall. My Dodge Durango does what the recall claims needs repair. Vehicle at 126000 and still spills gas all over the cement of the gas station. What a dangerous situation! I will never buy another Dodge again!! transmission went out and now I'm having another problem. The tcm has an error and the vehicle turns off and doesn't want to accelerate. Many people are having this same problem with the tcm.
The 2005 Dodge Durango vehicle is showing symptoms listed in recall 09v003000 -- at the end of refueling, some fuel escapes from the vehicle through the filler neck, which, in the presence of an ignition source, can result in a fire. This is a consistent issue, although the amount of escaped fuel varied from station to station. Dealer suggested my vehicle is not a part of the recall based on the VIN number, and therefore any repairs would be paid out of pocket.
Gas spits back every time it is filled. The dealer acknowledges it is a very well known and documented manufacturing fault, but is not authorized to repair it, as the vehicles' VIN does not fall within the range specified by Chrysler's last two recalls.
Overflowing gas at the end of fillup. The pump shuts off as it should, but then gas overflows out. We are not topping off - this happens with the first shutoff of the gas pump.
At the end of fueling fuel gushes back from fuel filler receptical. This happens using pump set for auto cut off or manual operation. This occurs every time fueling is completed without stopping short of auto fuel cut off by the pump. This to me is a very serious safety issue as any source of ignition could cause a very serious accident. I have found many complaints about this problem with many different Durango year models but only two seem to fall under their recalls, this problem is not related to any of the normally considered normal wear items but rather a system that should be reasonably considered to last the lifetime of the vehicle. This seems to be a widespread problem rather than just a few coustomer complaints. It also does not appear to be related to any time or mileage constraints. In light of the numerous complaints about this safety issue what relief could/should we expect reguarding this issue?.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that when she attempted to refuel the vehicle, gasoline would spill back out from the filler neck. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance. No repairs were performed. The current mileage was 89,311. The failure mileage was unknown.
Fuel filler neck on vehicle, sprays gasoline during fill up- about 1- 2 cups each time. Dodge dealer refuses to fix under the 2 recalls- Chrysler has basically said tough. This is a dangerous and recurring problem.
Every time I fill up my car at the gas station, it overflows. It's a 2005 Dodge Durango. I was told there was a recall associated with this problem but never received a notice about it. The problem started about 3 or 4 months ago.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact was driving approximately 20 mph and the engine stalled without prior warning. The vehicle restarted and the contact was able to continue driving. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing; however, they were unable to detect a trouble code. The failure continued to occur. In addition, whenever refueling the vehicle to its fuel capacity level the automatic shut off feature failed to engage causing fuel to spew onto the ground. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
Gas overflows on my 2005 Dodge Durango when filling up. Happens every time. Have gone to local dealership and contacted customer service online and both have said my VIN# doesn't fall under their previous recall.
I just bought a used 2005 Dodge Durango and when I fuel the pump wont stop and gas comes out of the filler tube all over the ground. The dealer says that my VIN is not covered but I have found at least 500 other people online with the same issue with the fuel but not the correct VIN.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that fuel spilled onto the ground while fueling the vehicle. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic test erformed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,000 and the current mileage was 107,000. The VIN information was not available.
About 2 years ago it starting spilling gas when I try an fill it up, I keep checking recalls but nothing for my vehicle and researching others they have the same issue but only certain 05 Durangos have been recalled. This is too expensive for me to fix myself so I have to monitor how much gas to put in, at $4. 00 a gallon I don't want to lose it on the ground. It would be nice for trips to fill it up to monitor miles per gallon and to get the most miles without stopping more often. There are several complaints about this, why can't all these vehicles be recalled, it is defiantly a problem and should be corrected before people get hurt.
Every time I fill my 2005 Dodge Durango with gasoline the gas overfills as the pump shuts off. This happens every time I fill with gas at any gas station. I have spoken with Dodge and they tell me that there is a recall for this problem in 2005 Dodge Durangos but my 2005 Durango is not included in the recall. This has not caused any crash, injury or fire, but I feel that it is a significant safety risk and that it should be investigated further. I have looked at many online message boards and it seams that many other owners of Dodge Durangos have this same problem and have been told the same thing by Dodge.
Each and everytime our vehicle is refueled gasoline sprays out of the filler neck . . We have found recalls of 2005 Dodge Durangos such as ours but according to Dodge our SUV is not one of the ones covered for the recall. There answer to us is OH just take it to the dealer and pay for the repairs and send us the bills and maybe we will pay for it. . We feel that this vehicle should be included ion the recall as it does fall within the recalls of 2005 Durangos.
When filling the car with gas, the fuel does not shut off. . . Spilling fuel all over the ground and down the side of the car.
Fuel filler check valve does not work. Gasoline will spray out of car when topping off.
I purchase my 2005 Dodge Durango sxt in early December of 2009. The vehicle only has 52,663 miles on it. I have been having issues when filling my Durango with gas. When I fill it up it doesn't shut off causing gas to shoot out everywhere, over my car, ground and myself once getting it in my face. I thought at first that it may have been just a pump issue at the gas station, but it has happened to me at 3 other stations as well. I read on many different forums that there is a recall for this type of problem. I was wondering what information or steps I need to take as this is a huge safety concern. I appreciate any information you could have for me.
2005 Dodge Durango- gas overflow problem while fueling occurs everytime pumping. Started 2/10/10.
When fueling the vehicle to full, fuel will spill out causing a fire hazard. I have contacted my local dealer about a possible recall on this vehicle, and I was told that my VIN was not included in the current safety recall. The overflowing happens every time the vehicle is fueled.
2005 Dodge Durango; gas spills out after filling with gas at gas station. Dealer said my vehicle is not covered under the existing recall for other 2005 Dodge Durango's that also spill gas after filling. I logged a case with Chrysler and they want me to pay for analysis at the dealer, and then they will determine if and how much to cover; if any. They said its not covered and that the supplier of the part that has failed on the others is different, though I have seen numerous other complaints on discussion boards that they also are not getting covered repairs under a recall because their vehicle's VIN is not covered under the recall. I believe that they need to issue a new recall or expand this to more vehicles, it is very clear that more vehicles have this same safety hazard that they are admitting too. I do not feel that I have to pay the dealer to determine the issue. I want Chrysler to repair for free since this is covered under recall for other same vehicles.
Dodge Durango won't take gas pump keeps shutting off.
When fueling my 2005 Dodge Durango just after fueling is complete and pump shuts off, fuel sprays back through filler neck. There is a current recall that is to repair this exact problem on other 2005 Dodge Durango, however, the dealer says my VIN is not included in this recall. After researching on the internet I found that several people are having this issue. There is even a case number listed on your site. Rq08005. I have contacted both the dealer and Chrysler and they have offered to do nothing more than charge me to repair my vehicle.
Every time I fill up my 2005 Dodge Durango the fuel comes spilling out of the fill pipe. If I do not stand back in time it ejects fuel all over me, my hands, my clothes, the ground and the side of the vehicle. I have contacted Dodge over a week ago and have not heard back from them. I checked the VIN for recalls and it is not included in the recall that is going on with the exact same problem.
When refueling, it causes the pump to stop sending fuel and then the fuel gushes out all over the vehicle, nozzle, and ground. . Read more...
When fueling the vehicle, after the pump has shut off, fuel will shoot out of the fuel fill hole. This has done this repeatedly, and is to the point where it does it everytime the vehicle is filled up. When this happens, fuel is all over the ground, shoes, pants and anything else near the fuel cap. This is beginning to concern me as this is an extreme fire hazard. Recalls for the 2005 Dodge Durango were researched and our particular VIN# is not under the recall list. No repairs were attempted. Date listed below is the last time this incident happened.
Upon filling up at a gas station. My 2005 Dodge Durango slt will spit fuel back approx 5 secs after clicking off at the pump. My truck was built Jan 2005, 1 month outside of the orginal recall window and subsequent new window. I have checked the www and it seems alot of owners have similar issues. I would suggest that the original clean/ dirty point provided by the teir 1 supplier was incorrect and infact did not capture all vehicles with this issue. I believe this is a huge saftey issue that should be changed to encompass all 2005 Durangos as it it obvious that the current clean point was ineffective.
After allowing gas to fill vehicle completely, the gas nozzle stops pumping. Once I remove the gas nozzle, gas spits out of the fuel filler neck all over the vehicle and myself. This condition has occurred three times.
