My car is having identical symptoms to a recall for it, but Dodge is saying my vehicle is "not affected", despite having identical symptoms from an identical cause. The check valve on my fuel tank has failed, and it overflows when I fill it with gas.
I have own my Durango for about 4 years and I recently had the air bag recall repaired that it had. My vehicle also had a previous recall for the fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve. It causes gas to splash out at a large amount which splashes out at you, all over the truck and the ground. It does this every time I fill my tank. I looked it up online and mine was never replaced but “checked” before I owned it. I don’t know why it was replaced because my vehicles is obviously affected by this recall and the dealer will not fix it because it was previously checked. I’m scared of the danger this issues has. I’m a single dad and this is my only vehicle. It happens regularly every time I refuel.
I almost died, I escaped my car moments before it completely exploded into flames. I was driving down the interstate and it said it was overheating for a couple seconds and then the car went completely dead going 70 miles per hour. My steering wheel locked up so I fought to pull it off the road and stop it, I had a bad feeling so I checked the front of the car but it was inflamed once I got out and my seat was consumed in fire.
VIN: 1d4hb48n45f541516, 2005 Dodge durang0 slt, 4. 7l. Vehicle purchased party on 07/20/2022. Register and insured 07/21/2022. Safety fca recall #: h45. Nhtsa recall #: 09v-003; the fuel tank inlet check valve sticks in the open position, causing fuel to spill out of the filler tube when the vehicle is being refueled. Fuel in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire. Repair description: the fuel inlet check valve must be tested for proper operation. A vehicle with a sticking check valve must have the fuel tank replaced. On 08/08/2022 during the second attempt of refueling as the current owner. There was fuel spillback during refueling. On 08/08/2022, I contacted daimler Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403, case number 83760378 explaining the incident. However, customer service (ms. Kadijah) stated that the safety recall had been completed but in fact per recall status according to fca, only an inspection was performed. This is not only a serious safety concern to myself and my family but also to the community at large. Especially during refueling, with the possibility of an explosion and fire caused by fuel spilling and igniting in the process.
When filling up my gas tank occasionally fuel will spit out of my gas tank and all over my car and ground.
Was driving 2005 Dodge Durango when it stalled and stopped running at a bottom of a hill. Would not start . Replaced idiole control sensor, starter, battery, crank shaft sensor and relays. Started ran for 30 minutes again just died in the middle of the road. Will not start. If someone would of come over the hills could of hit us with sever injury or possibly death. Still wont run crank over wont run.
When filling up vehicle, fuel pump spits fuel back out when full instead of shutting off. Or pump will not fill at full speed and pump continually shuts off. Then it cannot tell when full, spitting fuel back out the filler.
After filling gas tank to completion and hearing the auto stop on the fuel pump engage I saw about a liter of fuel spill out from the gas tank. Fuel was all over the vehicle and ground.
I cant put more then 10 dollars in my tank because the nosle keeps clicking and gas pours out all over me and the ground. There was a recall for this, but it is no longer happening. I just bought this car used and now my mechanic cant even find a gas tank to replace it. My legs have felt like they where on fire and became red from the gas pouring out on me, my husband has had to hose me down outside in my backyard from having fuel all over my legs. Engine is intermittent stalling when driving or taking a sharp corner at low speed. The vehicle engine has just stalled when driving at different speeds. No check engine lite on at all the engine just stalls and I can restart the engine almost all the time right away the repair facility has no idea what is going on. Need to get this figured out before an accident happens.
The gasoline will overflow from the fuel filler pipe and cap and not shut off on its own. This happens when filling the vehicle stationary, with the car off at gas stations. It happens very consistently, regardless of the fill rate of the gas, the style of gasoline dispenser, or location of the gas station. The gasoline will continue to spill out from the fuel neck until someone manually intervenes and turns off the nozzle. There have been 2 recalls issued for this issue with 2005 Dodge Durango's (recall id# 40367, and 27198) however the recall is limited to certain vins, which does not include mine. To be clear, even though my VIN is not included in the recalls, I am experiencing the exact same issue as described in both recalls. The body on that side of the vehicle (directly under the filler cap) has been completely eaten away from the episodes of gasoline pouring out over it.

It is a major safety issue when a gush of fuel splatters all over the attendant, my car and the ground every time I fill up.
My car caught on fire from the hood area (I have photos) and air bags never deployed . I took my car in and the air bags were replaced but never deployed and car is a total lost due to fire.

The dealer (pearson Chrysler Jeep Dodge, 8250 w broad st, richmond, va 23294, (804) 965-0300) stated that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA action number: rq08005 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer issued two fuel system recalls and three fuel system tsbs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no solution. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
"takata recall" I'm handicap, trying to get airbags replaced, keep getting run around, dealers no help, finally one dealer says parts are on order , but still no results, have been over 1 year, I'm still recieving recall letters in mail, frustrated, need vehicle fixed,.
A recall that supposedly happened before I purchased the vehicle is showing the symptoms of why it was recalled to begin with. The recall #e01, NHTSA #05v-034 which involves the fuel filler tube inlet check valve. Every single time I try to put gas in my Durango, the fuel spurts out at me. . . Even when I go super slow in filling it up. This has been going on for at least 2 years now. The area around and under the gas cap is now all corroded and rusted. I recently took some pictures during the fill to show all the gas on the ground and on the car. I took this to Dodge city in brookfield, WI and they could not fix the problem without charging me for the work (almost $600). In researching this problem, I see many people with these Durangos have this issue but Chrysler will not fix it without charging the end user.
Engine cuts off at any speed, but especially at low idle, when nearing an intersection, or turning the vehicle at a lower, safer speed. This happens on highway, residential streets, stoplights, basically anywhere at anytime.

I have a 2005 Dodge Durango with the 5. 7 hemi engine. . It has 80,000 miles and just recently the engine started shutting off at random times when driving, mostly when I hit a bump in the road. . I have researched this with the national highway safety board website and see there is a hundreds of complaints from feburary 2005 thru present . . There was an investigation opened in 2005 pe05-027 then it was transferred to an engineering analysis ( ea05-018) and then nothing. . I would like to know if the NHTSA dropped the ball on this?? there is no further answers to the complaint. . Please advise me what do I have to do to get a n answer to this problem, which is a manufactures error that is going to get me killed or someone else.
When fueling vehicle the fuel will unpredictable overflow and cause gasoline to pour on vehicle and unto the ground. Enough fuels overflows to cause puddles of gasoline to form on the ground. If you are standing close to intake it will spray fuel on person operating the pumb. The problem is causing rusting on vehicle.
When putting gas in the vehicle it does not stop once full it will splash gas on the vehicle, person putting the gas in and will continue to spill onto the pavement. This happens every time you put gas in the vehicle.

Vehicle was totaled and claim filed with geico claim # 0084883020101273.
After filling up vehicle, a quantity of gasoline flushed out of the fuel filler neck causing a distinct fire hazard. This has occurred for each fill up.
I am not happy that my VIN number pulls up only one recall when a few of the issues that I am having are on the recall list. For starters the side of my vehicle is flaking p[aint and not to mention everytime I fuel it, gas spurts all over the vehicle and ground. Owner of 2005 Dodge Durango with faulty check valve in fuel filler tube. Vehicle VIN currently not included in Chrysler recall h45, (NHTSA 05v034000). Upon fuel fill up, vehicle overflows substantial amount of fuel from filler neck onto side of vehicle and ground on every fuel hose cut off.
Constant fuel smell while driving and sitting still. Fuel spits back out filler when fueling. Rust through in left rear quarter panel. Problem has been ongoing for a couple of years. Getting worse. There is a recall for this problem but does not cover my VIN.
Engine will without warning lurch forward. It will also completely shut down making steering and braking extremely difficult. This vehicle had no codes showing and repair shop can't replicate the problem this lurching of the vehicle has occurred almost daily. And has completely shut down twice. When fueling, there is no shutoff so fuel goes everywhere. Dealership says problem was fixed but it is not fixed. It has been doing this since I purchased the vehicle. It is very unsafe and causes a wet slippery surface at gas pump, along with gas leakage down the side of vehicle, which has created rust now.

And I have rust on the side where gas has run down the vehicle. I have also had an incident where everything electrical in my vehicle has went crazy. Lights flashing gages malfuctioning and at this time it would not take any fuel you could push on the accelerator all you wanted but it would not take fuel. I have read where other people have had problems with their gas refueling to. This is a very serouis and dangerous problem. I would like an investigation into this and I would like a response please. I think the manufactuer should be held responsiable for their mistakes and this is clearly their mistake.
