Spits back fuel after refueling. Possibility of fire hazard.
On any number of occasions (regardless of outside temperature or whether or not the vehicle was at normal operating temperature) while the vehicle is at a slow speed (in forward or reverse) the engine will stall without warning. With the loss of engine power comes the normal loss of power steering and power brakes. It appears to be most frequent when pulling into or out of a parking lot, stop sign, etc. The slow speeds are not inherently dangerous, except for the fact that stalling while in traffic and suddenly reducing speed or stopping puts myself and other motorist in jeopardy. When backing into a parking space, the loss of steering and braking capabilities create a risk of minor damage to other parked cars and could put a pedestrian at risk while being distracted and not being able to stop or steer as easily. There are no obvious sounds or engine or transmission noises or vibrations or anything to give warning that this could occur.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that after refueling, fuel would spray out of the filler neck regardless of the fuel level capacity. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline) and stated that the vehicle was included in the recall however, the part needed to complete the recall service was unavailable. The manufacturer was notified and they were unable to provide an expected date for the remedy part to become available. The approximate failure mileage was 220,000.
Each time I fill the vehicle with fuel it spits back up through the filler tube and all over the side of the vehicle. The pump then shuts off. I have notified two fuel stations of this at the time I filled the vehicle thinking it might be a pump problem, but I researched and many vehicles of this model have reported this to be a problem. There is a strong odor of fuel in and around the vehicle at the time of fill up and there after. Active recalls do not appear to cover my vehicle, but the problem is there and obviously needs to be repaired. My dealership has been contacted.
I filled my 2005 Dodge Durango today with gas and the nozzle clicked and gas spewed out all over me and my nine year old son this is unsafe needs attention right away.
Vehicle stalls at low speeds and deceleration, idling hard at a stop and while in park, will stall when idling hard, gas spills out of inlet when filling up completely, sluggish in temperatures below 30 degrees and above 80 degrees, requires more than normal maintenance, service tech's can never diagnose the causes of stalling or idling issues, think it might concern the throttle body, transmission has torqued itself out before, stripped screws, rebuilt at 90000 miles. Just waiting for it to go again. This vehicle has been nothing but issues ever since I bought it used. Every fix just feels like a band aid to the manufacturing problems it has.
When you fill the vehicle with gas, the pump will not shut off. This is resulting in gasoline spraying out of the opening. This sprays gas all over the person filling the vehicle, down the side of the vehicle and the ground.
I purchased a used 2005 Dodge Durango and recently in December 2012 it started having problems when trying to put gas in it. The gas pump clicks off and the the gas starts to spew back out not only does it go on the car it actually even reaches you. There has been recalls for this year Durango but I was told my VIN number was not covered. Since this problem I have been doing some research and have found out that over 3,000 people also have complained. I believe this is a very dangerous situation and they say it can cause a fire. I dont understand why the NHTSA would not recognize and demand there be more recalls done and honored free of charge. A life is a life and cant believe anyone would take a chance with it.
I just bought it from a private party and went to fill it up and once it was full it spewed gas all over me and the ground. I thought it was a fluke, but when I filled it up a second time, it did the same thing. I started my search on the internet, and found, there was a recall for 04, 05 , 06, and 07 Durangos for this issue. I took it to the dealership, and was told my VIN was not included for my 05 Durango. I proceeded to go online and talk to Dodge directly and got a response that they were standing behind what the dealership said. I proceeded to email them back to get it escalated with no response. I just dont know why there would be recalls all around my vehicle, and my vehicle is doing exactly what the recall said it was doing. Hopefully it does not cause a fire hazard, or cause anything to the environment. All I need is to find out how to get my VIN number included in the recall or who to talk to, to get it corrected.

When I'm driving in traffic (approx 30-45 mph) or stopped at a light, my vehicle randomly shuts off. There's no indication this will happen. No lights flash or anything. The truck simply stops. I take it to mechanics and they say they can't identify the problem--but they recognize there's a problem. I'm fearful for the safety of my family in the vehicle and/or anyone we encounter when this happens. It's nearly impossible to steer the vehicle out of traffic, and the steering locks up as well. I've had the cooling system flushed, transmission replaced to no avail. Is there a recall on this thing?! there sure should be! I'm sure someone has died by now due to this malfunction.
I stopped at the gas station to put gas in my 2005 Durango. When it was full the gas sprayed out all over my leg and boots. When I looked for a recall there was one but not for my VIN. Because of this my finder is rusting out and ever Durango I see the same make as mine has the same rust spot. I don't understand why it isn't part of the recall. The gas overflow and the rust spot.

When filling up the vehicle with gasoline the filler tube does not close and gasoline comes up and out of the tube. I was informed that numerous complaints have been issued, as well as, two recalls, but since my vehicle was manufactured in 3-2005 it is not covered. As this has the potential for injury and fire this recall should be expanded as obviously it affects more vehicles then in the past recall notices.

It spits gas back at you when you fill up I just read about the recall I've only owned the car for 2 year.
When my wife filled up the vehicle the gas splashed back all over her. His happens all the time . We took it too a dealer and they said it was already fixed but it still has the same issue.
I got a recall letter for my 2005 Dodge Durango at around 60,000 miles. I was told that the recall did not match my SUV VIN and that nothing was wrong. I now have 76,000 miles on the Durango and it started throwing up fuel when completing a fill up. This happens everytime now. Dodge already said my truck was good and that nothing was wrong with it. I am sure you they will try and tell me to cover the cost on my own. I will not cover the cost I promise you that. Dodge you are responsible for this, so fix it. You are selling junk and I have been a true costomer for many years this is my 5th Durango and my last. I hope it starts a fire so I will no longer have to pay for crap your selling.
When I put gas on my car the valve in the fuel thank does not close and leak gasoline to the floor.
While fueling the vehicle up, the automatic shut off is activated and then gasoline sprays out of the filler tube.
Durango stalls while turning or stopping.
Check engine lite came on and the code was large leak loose gas cap so I replaced it and it worked for two weeks and it happened again. Since then its been a problem. I see they had a recall on Dodge Durangos that were made in 3/1/04 to 11/16/04 for filler pipe and cap I purchased my Dodge Durango on 12/2004 it was made in Aug or sept of 2004. They told me it was not on the recall list but I am having the same problems that the Dodge recall was having. Thank you hope you can help.
