When filling gas tank, gas shoots back out filler tube. The gasoline will splash back at you when tank is not even full. Very dangerous and checked for recall but my vehicle not covered but many owners report same issue.
When filling the gas tank, after the gas pump shuts off (indicating tank full), gas spews out of the tank and into the vehicle, ground, and person pumping gas if they don't jump out of the way quickly.
When filling up fuel tank, a wave of fuel is spilled out every time.
When filling the tank up with fuel, rather than stopping automatically, the nozzle clicks and fuel burps out onto the vehicle and the ground. This happens when stationary at a gas station filling up with fuel. I believe this may be the common issue with the fuel tank filler inlet check valve or fuel tank filler. Each are common recalls found on the NHTSA website under this specific vehicle.
When fueling with fuel at the end if not stooped regulatory to allow the fuel to empty into the tank the fuel will come out of the filling hole and keep going until you stop the fuel pump. Once you stop the fuel p[ump it will take about 3 sec to stop coming out but until then you will have about 1 quart to half a gallon of fuel all over the side of the Durango, tire, and ground.
Tl the contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. When filling the fuel tank, the fuel tank valve failed and caused fuel to spill out. The vehicle was taken to jstar motors (8200 crystal dr, anaheim, CA 92807, (866) 906-0586) where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing the same symptoms listed in NHTSA campaign number: 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 145,000.
I had taken my Dodge Durango for a recall on air bag and they replaced. . Also mention that when I am filling up my Dodge Durango with fuel it wouldn't automatically stop when tank was full caucusing fuel to splash all over including me they indicated to me that it was a recall on my Durango they ordered the parts and two days later called me and said we are not going to fix it. Dealer was davis moore Dodge in witchita, kansas.
When filling the gas tank fuel spits out everywhere resulting in a fire hazard and personal safety issues for the person fueling the vehicle. This had been an issue since I purchased the vehicle in February. I contacted the family of the previous owner who stated this has always been a problem.
Upon filling the gas tank since the first time on June 15, 2017, and every time since then, the fuel always spits back, and all over the place, including on the gas attendant, upon any one walking by, on the car, and of course, on the ground. It may or may not be the fuel tank inlet check valve (fuel filler tube), but the dangerous safety issue remains. I have read that 20,000 Durangos have been recalled from 2005 for this issue, but for reasons unknown, even though my 2005 Durango also has this dangerous safety problem, I am told by the dealer that my 2005 Durango has not been recalled. If for some reason it has not been recalled, it obviously should be recalled because it has the same exact issue that the other 2005 Durangos have been recalled for. So why not mine?.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that there was a recall regarding the fuel tank filler inlet check valve. The contact's vehicle was not included. The contact stated that fuel leaked out of the fuel tank after filling the tank. The contact noticed a strong odor of fuel while driving. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 156,000.
Gas comes spewing out of the tank when I'm filling up at the gas station. This only happens with I'm trying to "fill" the tank, at the end of the filling when the pump should stop due to the tank being full. It does not spew out if I'm just putting "some" gas in the tank. This happens at all gas stations so it seems as though this is an issue with the vehicle and not the pump. I've had this problem for several years and just found information on the NHTSA campaign number 09v003000 report receipt date 01/08/2009. This seems to be the same issue I'm having however I was told, today, that my VIN # is not included in the 2005 Dodge Durango vehicles listed in the recall. Safety recall number h45 - fuel tank inlet check valve. How do I go about possibly getting my vehicle added to the recall list for this issue? this has been an ongoing issue since I've owned the vehicle. I purchased it brand new in September of either 2004 or 2005.
My 05 Dodge Durango, which I am the only owner of, overflows gas while filling up the tank. I was told it is a recall, I called the local dealership to schedule an appointment to fix it, I was treated with absolute disrespect and was told my car was already fixed through the warranty, I assured them I was the only owner and it was never fixed, they again told me it was and they would not pay for it to get fixed again even if it is the same issue that the recall was for. I have had the gas overflow and spray all over me multiple times, including one time while I was holding my infant child. This is not ok and so beyond unsafe!!! it clearly wasn't fixed and I would like it fixed before someone gets hurt! the vehicle was off and parked. I also know multiple people with this same model and theirs do the same thing and all have rust eating through their vehicles on the panel under their gas tanks, was fixing that also in the recall since it is clearly due to the gas overflowing?.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that when filling the tank with fuel, the fuel pump would not automatically stop as intended. As a result, fuel overflowed and leaked from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the shut off valve was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,000.
Tl the contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. While the contact was filling the fuel tank, fuel spilled out. The contact was not able to complete filling the tank. There were no warning indicators illuminated. Bender Chrysler Dodge Jeep (3400 mabry dr, clovis, nm 88101, (575) 762-4511) replaced the fuel check valve. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 190,000.
When filling the fuel tank, gasoline shoots out of the tank once the tank is full and after the pump handle has detected the tank being full and has shut off. I understand from talking to the local dealer, Chrysler customer service and many comments on the internet that Chrysler recalled certain 2005 Durango's made in specific plants with specific parts. I was told by the dealer and by Chrysler customer service that our Durango was not recalled. I don't understand why only certain vehicles were recalled when others with the same issue were not recalled. This is a real safety concern for us. Gasoline gets on us and our clothes our skin and on the ground. Could start fire if a spark was nearby. A new tank cost $1300 plus labor which we can't afford. Please help us stay safe.
While filling the fuel tank, when the pump kicks off fuel spits back out of the fuel tank on the ground, the vehicle, and me (if I am standing close). I have found numerous complaints and conversations on the internet regarding this problem. Some are referenced below: NHTSA investigation #rq08005 led to recall #09v003000 NHTSA reference #10051769: TSB #sb-14-002-13; customer satisfaction campaign #csc-10051769-3696 warranty bulletin #d-13- subject: (x48) fuel tank inlet check valve (fuel filler tube) purpose of bulletin: to announce an extended warranty on the fuel tank inlet check valve on 2005-2006 Dodge Durango vehicles stating: "this warranty extension coverage is unlimited time and miles. " I took my vehicle to benchmark-Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-ram, 1313 grants mill way, birmingham, alabama 35210, (205) 957-1313 for this problem. They advised me up front that I would be charged $105 to diagnose the vehicle, but that I would be reimbursed if the problem was covered under any recalls or warranties. After the diagnosis they said they needed to start by replacing the filler neck and if that does not fix the problem they would need to replace the fuel tank. They said this would not be covered under the lifetime warranty nor the recall for this problem. After leaving benchmark I had to fill up the vehicle and I videoed the fuel spit-back when the pump shut off. I feel that this is a serious safety issue and it is documented that they have acknowledged that this year and model vehicle has a problem, but they do not want to take responsibility for correcting the problem.
Every time I went to fill the gas tank it had a delay overflow . Started out with about a cup of gasoline and then increased to about 3/4 of a pint and this is even when filling very slowly. I checked online and found that there had been a recall on Durango's in 2005 for gas tanks overflowing because of a defective check valve. When I contacted the dealer he said that recall did not apply to my VIN number?. I do not see how that can be. I have owned many cars over 40 years and never had one overfill the fuel tank and splash all over you.
Having 3 major issues that can be life threating. . 1) driving at any speed sometimes vehicle will completely shut off leaving me on the highway at 60mph no power steering 2) filling gas tank up no matter if I go slow will always spit lots of gas back out of the neck 3) 4x4 is engaging by itself. I can park it turn motor off and you can hear it going into 4x4 without me being in the vehicle or touching the 4x4 knob. This has cause me issue steering when it decides to go into 4x4 mode by itself. I need to know if their is current complaints about the above issues and how can I get them fix without me paying.
When you are filling up the gas tank and the nozzle shuts off when it's full. The tank or check valve doesn't close and a lot of gasoline flows back out onto the side of the Durango and on the ground. This could potentially be very dangerous.
The first time it happened, the transfer case went into neutral, on it's own, while driving on a devided hiway, with no shoulder. It kind of created a traffic jam. Long story short. A friend towed me home. I reset the transfer case per the instruction manual, and it went back into gear. Still do not know why it went into neutral in the first place. Now, when you open the doors, the transfer case motor operates like crazy, for up to 30 seconds, and some times longer. I got on line and have found out that is a problem experienced by many Durango awd owners. I bought it used and the previous owners claimed that it never did it before. Also, when filling the tank up, the filler neck will "purge" fuel out onto the ground and your feet. This is listed as a dealer recall, and mine was looks to have been done, but the problem is still there.
When filling the fuel tank up, the gas pours out and goes everywhere the car, ground, and me.
We were filling the fuel tank at a gas station, after the tank was filled it sprayed fuel on my wife. I have investigated this issue online and found this recall. I will also contact Dodge ,but I also have read a few instances where they are resistant to this safety issue so I decided to also report it here.
This is my 2nd 2005 Dodge Durango that has the exact same issue as described in NHTSA campaign number: 09v003000. Chrysler recall h45. When filling the tank, gas spits back at you. Gasoline hits your pants, shoes, and all over the gas station pavement. This happens everytime you fill the tank. The workaround is not fill the tank all the way but that is a hit or miss issue. I call Chrysler and they said they don't see this issue with my 2nd Durango. I'd typically accept it but seeing how both my Durangos had the exact same issue it is a little bit hard to swallow. This vehicle has had the issue for at least a year and I am ready for Chrysler to fix it before there is a fire or other epa issue. Thanks.
When filling the tank, the pump shuts off and gasoline continues to spill out. This has happened on numerous occasions and we have to avoid topping off the tank in order to avoid the spill. When doing some research, we found that there was a recall in 2009 for the fuel system/gasoline storage tank assembly. Today (4/8/13), we contacted and spoke to our Dodge/Chrysler dealer and they stated that there was indeed a recall in 2009 and apparently our vehicle VIN was not covered under the recall and that there were no extensions. We are just in awe, that a potential fire hazard and something this dangerous would not continue have an extension under the recall. Had we known there was a recall, we would have had the situation addressed sooner.
My 2005 Dodge Durango had the completed recall h45 worked done on 4/27/2009. The Dodge dealership replaced the gas tank per the h45 recall. The Dodge dealership considers the matter closed but the issue has now occurred with this new installed tank. The vehicle had 28,994 miles when this work was done. Now the vehicle has 68,000 miles on it and the same issue occurs while filling the gas tank up. Upon shut off of the gas pump, fuel will spit up out of the inlet fuel tube and leave fuel on the side of my SUV and leave a puddle of fuel below the car. I wanted to report this issue ASAP due to the fact that recall h45 was completed on this vehicle but problem is occuring again. Under the recall h45 the dealer will replace the fuel tank, but what about the inlet fuel check valve? was the tank inlet check valve replaced when the fuel tank was replaced? was the fuel tank replaced on my SUV a newer unit that passed all safety checks or did I get an older unit that still had the issues with the inlet check valve failing? this issues needs further investigation to meet the safety recall h45 completed work done by the dealer and to help others that may have the same issue occuring once again with there Durangos under this recall.
Upon filling up the tank the fuel will spray out all over the place. I took it to the dealer and they stated there was a recall for this issue but it had already been done and even though it failed again it is my problem. I see 2006 and on have a unlimited time and mileage warranty for this issue. Every time I fill the gas tank, the gasoline spitted out at the end of filling.
Upon filling the gas tank, it has started to overflow and spray gasoline once it gets full.
Each time I fill the gas tank, if the nozzle is set to automatically shut off, the nozzle shuts off, however fuel overflows the filling tube. Often it runs down the side of the vehicle and/or splashes out. I contacted Chrysler about a recall in place for these symptoms, however, they said my vehicle is not included.
I am having an issue with the fuel tank when I am filling up the truck, when fueling, the pump handle will click off and then fuel will shoot out of the fuel tank all over the place. I have never seen or experienced this issue ever before and it is quite alarming when you gas up and end up covered in gasoline not to mention the fact I am spilling gasoline all over at the pump, I feel this is a liability because of fuel spills and the fact it could potentially start a fire. I have seen several recalls on this issue and also several reviews as to Chrysler/Dodge not helping to repair the problem, this is why I was told to start here with a formal complaint.
When filling fuel tank, gas spews out of filler tube posing fire risk, damaging clothing, and adding voc's to atmosphere. Many complaints of same thing and even recalls on various model years. Makes very little sense why Dodge or ntsb doesn't connect the dots and correct this problem in a comprehensive fashion.
Gasoline was ejected from my fill tube at the gas station. After filling the tank the gas nozzle clicked to stop and fuel shot out of the filler tube covering me and my car in gasoline. This happens everytime the car is filled. I understand Chrysler/Dodge has recognized this problem in many vehicles but for some reason my vehicle was excluded.
When filling the tank with gasoline, the pump handle will shut down but gas spews from the filler opening on the vehicle. There is an existing recall for this problem issued in 2009; however, my particular VIN is not covered under that recall even though I am having the exact same problem. Perhaps a fire causing injuries is necessary to have this problem covered by Chrysler.
When filling the gas tank, gas shoots back out when the tank is full. This happens each time I refuel.
When I am filling up my gas tank at a gas station, the pump will kick off when full and a few seconds after you can hear fuel rushing up the tube and then sprays out all over the side of the car and on the ground. The side of my vehicle is starting to rust because of this and I have been held responsible to fuel cleanup at a few gas stations. Its my understanding there was a recall issued on some vehicles but since I am not the original owner, I am not sure if this was taken care of.
