Multiple occassions different gas stations - when filling the gas tank and removing nozzle the gas spills out in pretty large volume. Happened on last 4 occasions. Other Durango's same model year are seeing the same thing. Not safe.
While filling fuel tank, the gas pump stopped but fuel shot out of the filler tube spilling on the ground. This has happend on several occassions and does not matter how fast the fuel goes in.
When filling the gas tank (at any station) the check valve engages too early causing fuel to shoot out of the filler tube. Supposedly this was fixed but either a faulty one was installed or the work was never done (previous owner). Vehicle was also supposedly not covered under recall based on the VIN but matched the manufacture date but not serial number. No one has an answer why it is still doing this?.
Gas tank on 2005 Dodge Durango shoots gas out when filling the tank. Called the Dodge recall center and they said there are no "open" recalls. It seems to me that it the gas tank overflows and is a fire/explossion hazard, they should have to fix the problem. Not jsut say the recall period has ended and be done with it. Any advice on how to get this corrected?.
Gas shoots out of filler neck from gas tank after done filling up. This use to happen about every three fill ups but now its all the time. The other day it shot out and soaked a women across from me. I have complained to the dealer about this the last couple of years and have been told there is a recall out on the Durango but not mine which is ridiculous. I called Dodge with no satisfaction. This is extremely dangerous and should be fixed before someone gets seriously hurt. I talked with conner at Chrysler-the complaint # is 19381977. I took the Durango to spitzer in akron ohio and they ordered me a fuel tank but they said its on back order(go figure). I have an extended warrentywith a 50. 00 dollar deductible but this should be recalled in my opinion since its got the same problem as the cars and trucks in its class.
My 2005 Dodge Durango is spilling fuel from the filler neck upon filling up the gas tank. I called my local dealership and was told that my Durango is not involved with a recall for this issue using my VIN#. This is unacceptable and unfair. My Durango has a manf date of 10/04. This is a safety issue that Dodge needs to fix regardless if affected tank relief valve issue was resolved at a certain date. Dodge needs to expand the manf dates for these recalls affecting the tank relief valve issue. It is their responsibility to fix an issue such as this due to the safety, fire and environmental concerns that occur each and every time I fill up my gas tank.
Experiencing same issue as reported in NHTSA recall campaign number 09v003000 - fuel-spit back problems caused by stuck inlet check valves in the fuel tank filler tubes. When filling up the tank the fuel spits out. This issue occurs regularly upon fill up. The fuel spits out onto vehicle, gas station pavement, and clothing. This is an extreme hazard to myself and to my passengers in the vehicle during regular fill ups. I've had to refrain from filling up the vehicle to full capacity to avoid this occurrence. I checked my VIN [xxx] for recall information on Dodge. Com and my vehicle was erroneously not included in this recall. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I am making a complaint that Chrysler did not issue a recall based on NHTSA recall campaign number : 09v003000. I have a 2005 Dodge Durango that has had a defective inlet check valve in the fuel tank that has allowed gas to flow back up the fill line during filling of the tank. I had questioned the local dealership in the passed that there was a recall for this issue in vehicles of the year of my vehicle, but I was told this issue did not pertain to my vehicle since this issue was remedied on vehicles made after 01 October of that year. I told them mine was still having the problems listed. According to the recall number 09v003000, Chrysler was supposed to recall the vehicles built up to 11/30 of that year. According to what I have found out today this did not occur, they placed an extended warranty on this issue. So instead of informing dealerships and owners of the issue, they would only fix it if the owners had the issue of the check valve not working properly. Well, I have had the issue for almost the whole time I've had my vehicle(11/17/08), and I've brought it up to the local service shop a few times, and I was always told there was no listing of my vehicle requiring the repair to be done. This is quite frustrating because for years I have not been able to fill my gas tank up completely due to fuel coming back up the tube and spraying all over my clothes. Once I talked to a representative with Chrysler about the issue and the NHTSA number today I was informed about the extended warranty on the part, they said the identifier was (x48). Afterwards I contacted the local dealership to set up an appointment to have a diagnosis performed to determine if my vehicle had the problem. The dealership could not find anything relating to x48 extended warranty for my vehicle.
While filling the gas tank and when the tank is full, the fuel filler nozzle clicks off but then gasoline overflows out of the fuel tank filler neck and usually sprays into the air. This happens 99% of ever refueling trip to a gas station. The gas usually sprays out and gets all over the person refueling. I had the Dodge dealership look into this issue at the time of the first incident but nothing was done to fix it. The Dodge dealer wants approximately $700 to replace the entire gas tank in order to fix this issue.
My complaint is the same as in NHTSA campaign id number : 05v034000 however Dodge refuses to correct it. I have a 2005 Dodge Durango wherein the fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve does not fully close at the end of refueling. This allows fuel to escape from the vehicle filler neck. Consequence: fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire. Dodge has told me that my VIN number does not qualify for a recall even though it is a 2005 Dodge Durango with the same safety issue. They say that the qualifying vehicles were built before 10/12/2004 and that mine was built after that date. I maintain that they either used the same bad part in my vehicle or did not properly fix the problem. I am faced with a $600 repair bill for a design/part flaw that they did not correct and therefore should be responsible for repairing at their expense.
I have a 2005 Dodge Durango 4. 7l and when filling the gas tank the gas spalshes out when the pump shuts off. Even when pumping slowly it still comes out of the filler neck and onto the ground. If pumping faster it tends to shoot up and out. This is a hazard and needs to be fixed ASAP. There is a recall out for this problem on the 2005 Durango but mine is not one of the VIN numbers tha qualifies. The dealer says the entire gas tank needs to be replaced due to the check valve getting stuck and not closing properly. I have read several forum sites where other people have the same issue and Chrysler is not replaing those parts.
