1 Engine Noise problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2017

Driving home from a family trip 220 miles away my 2011 Durango dash lights and gages went haywire flickering on and off, windows would not roll down, ac went out but heat was blowing, loud high pitch sound came from the engine, radio went out, wipers going on full speed and could not turn them off. Finally we lost power steering, parked and the car shook bad as we turned it off. Went to turn on and nothing it wouldn't start. Aaa came out said alternator was toast, replaced that then it said battery was dead,( couldnt even get the vehicle in neutral to tow), so replaced that. Was able to drive for about 3 miles and it started all over again but this time a bad smell (burning smell) came from under the passengers seat, battery was making a sound and was extremely hot! I had my 3 little kids in the car with me and this thing could have blown so we had it towed! it has 79000 miles on it, never had an issue, and just had the recall done about 2 weeks prior that supposedly prevents this! the dealership has it now. Ive just dumped $700+ and it didnt even fix it! this could have caused a serious accident for my family and others or worse caught on fire with us in it! this was my first Dodge and will be my last especially if Dodge does nothing to fix this!.

2 Engine Noise problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2017

Vehicle was parked at work. I got off work came to vehicle entered and started engine after about 1 minute, a buzzing sound came from under the dash, then I began to smell smoke like burning wires or something electrical under the dash. Then I saw smoke coming from the engine compartment (under the vehicles front hood). By this time about 1 minute had passed with the engine idling in park. I opened the hood and looked in to see that the alternator was smoking and red hot inside. I tried to turn off the engine, but no response from the ignition button, then crazy electrical things happened with lights dash wipers and etc. , then the engine died, and there was not any power or battery everything was dead. I am glad I was not out on the freeway when this happened, or had the family with me. Vehicle was towed to auburn transmission and auto repair. Ph. (253)737-5913 it is my belief that the alternator went to a dead short and killed the battery so fast, it was amazing to see. I thought there would be some kind of fuseable link to prevent such a thing from occurring. That is a most dangerous design, fire prone.

3 Engine Noise problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2016

I was driving with my kids getting our day started. I turn on with remote start was making loud screeching sound. Loaded up kids and started to take off. We could all smell a bad burning smell. I check all temps on car and nothing read high temperature. I drove on my way to daycare when my car stalled and shut down. And it had previously did this b4 like 4 months or so and a recall of fuel pump was done and had been running fine till this day. I tried starting it a few times nothing. Finally turn on and battery light came on. I drove it to drop of my 3 kids at camp when it kept feeling like it wanted to turn of. Still smelling burning. Finally I'm headed to work and it stalled in middle of intersection. Thank god I didn't have my kids with me and no accidents happened. I had car towed to local mechanic because dealership is and hour away. He said alternator gave out. Put new alternator in still nothing. 600 dollars down drain. Now I have to pay towing to get to dealership which will mean just more money down the drain which I don't have the extra money and use this car for wk so hopefully I don't lose my job. I don't understand how I have same exact problems as another 2011 Durango under recall but mine ain't one of them. Do you have to wait till someone is seriously hurt or killed to have a recall. If none of this is resolved properly I will be hiring a lawyer. I have only had vehicle for 2yrs.

4 Engine Noise problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2014

My vehicle start to being slow. It does not star , turn off after start . Has a strange noise when running. I call DE dealer, asking what happens if I have an accident with children. The said the insurance will pay. That they have not received the parts already and I have to wait until tomorrow. What will I do without my car for severals days? I do not have another one, the insurance says they will not allow me to have another.
