Engine Shut Off Without Warning problems of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Since my car has had 74,000 miles I have taken it in for "abrupt shutdowns". My car has been in the dealership more than 1/2 a dozen times for the same issue and they have not been able to make my car safe for me to drive. Car is always in motion and completely shuts down whether it be on the street, highway (literally had to put in park and restart the vehicle during traffic on the freeway) or turning a corner, it completely shuts down and "fsw" flashes. All power is turned off and literally have to drive off to the side (if I am able to), of I just shut down in the middle of my route, put in park and continue on my drive. I have multiple photos that I have taken of my dashboard, showing this "fsw" (showing mileage). Last time this happened was December 2019.

My 2011 Dodge Durango engine shut off while driving. The first two times it happened exiting the same exit on a right sharp turn at the same part of the turn. The steering wheel locked and I had to force all my weight to turn it and pull off to the shoulder avoiding getting hit from behind and the side. Dodge dealer claimed nothing was wrong but wanted to keep car to investigate. I filed a complaint and opened a case number with Chrysler corporation. There was a recall with first owner for this happening and it was supposively fixed, I believe the problem was not entirely fixed. I avoided that exit thinking I temporarily took care of the problem. Third time my engine shut off while driving was on a left hand turn. No one was behind us so we avoided being rear ended. Car was placed in neutral and manually restarted. I called Chrysler again using same case number from before but I was told theres nothing that can be done because the warranty expired. 4th and 5th time my engine shut off while driving happened today , first was at a stop in traffic, no turn. I press gas and realized my engine was off while electrical stays on, so my air conditioner and radio weren't effected. And last I turned right into a drive way at work, engine turned off, steering wheel locked. I had to place in park and restart my car. There is a defect with this vehicle that Chrysler needs to fix. The first two times happened on a freeway exit. I may not be so lucky next time. This is our family car that my children ride in and Chrysler doesnt want to help with problem. I don't mind pitching in to help problem. I tried trading in to Dodge but didnt have down payment for new one.

This problem has happened multiple times already not everyday but I would say at least 4-5 times a year. We are driving just normal down the highway and vehicle shuts off we have no steering lose all power have to come to a stop and restart vehicle. The most recent time this has happened luckily we were at a stop light and engine just shut off. We have taken it to a mechanic put his scan tool on it nothing came up. Battery is brand new has been tested alternator test good. Mechanic suggested computer problem. This is a safety hazard Dodge needs to look into.

Vehicle has had campaign 14v530000 (and all other recalls and powertrain TSB's) performed. While driving on highways and rural roads, engine shuts off abruptly, causing loss of steering assist and only a couple brake actuations before brake assist is lost (occurred before tipm campaign, still shuts off after campaign). Typically occurs during coasting or mild braking when preparing to enter a turn (does not matter if right or left turn). No "check engine," alternator, or other warning lights appear on the dash (as they would if the engine stalled) -- it is as if ignition switch were immediately turned off. Occasionally when engine shuts off, the instrument cluster gives a forward collision warning disabled warning (but the fcw does not beep, alert, signal, etc. Before the engine shuts off, and there was no obstacle to set off or block the fcw). Since engine seems to shut off, there are no codes active or stored after the engine shuts off. Repeated trips to dealership, and they can not diagnose, or cause the issue to occur.

2 different episodes of unexpected vehicle shutdown/stalling. First event was in the process of a left hand turn. Vehicle shut down partway through the turn. Lost all power steering and brakes. Struggled to keep the vehicle out of the ditch. Put the vehicle in park, and it restarted immediately, and continued home uneventfully. Approximately 2 months later, the vehicle again unexpectedly stalled at a traffic light. The light turned green, and I took my foot off the brake, and the vehicle stalled. Again, it restarted uneventfully and I continued to work. The vehicle appears to be working normally otherwise. Acceleration and fuel economy are normal, and there are no episodes of hesitation/stuttering/missing. There was no warning of the stall either time. Both episodes were approximately 5 minutes into my drive, and the vehicle should have been mostly warmed up each time, but perhaps not all the way. The "exact" moment of the stall seems to coincide with removing my foot from the brake, once to turn and once to accelerate. The Durango was taken to the dealer that same day each time, and there were no significant error codes.

I've had my Durango back to the dealer several times for the stalling issue. They allege that all repairs were completed in late November. I then went out of town on business for two months. I came back in late January, and the vehicle continued to stall on me while driving. They said the warranty work was done on the fuel pump relay in November. When I took it back in February, they replaced the computer and the keys because they said that the vehicle was shutting down because the the computer didn't recognize that the key was in the vehicle and it shut down to prevent the vehicle from being stolen. On February 26th, it stalled while driving again. I left a voice mail for the dealership with no return phone call. On March 1st, the vehicle stalled while driving again. The vehicle is now back in the dealership.

I have been having issues with the vehicle engine shutting off as the vehicle is in motion. Sometimes it restarts right up other times it takes a jump pack needed to start ir up. I have complained about this issue before. I contacted Dodge/ Chrysler recall center and I was told that this was happening because of my fuel relay switch that was already recalled and that the situation would be fixed once that was replaced. Well last week the relay switch was replaced on Monday and on both Wednesday and Thursday while operating the car at about 55 mph the vehicle shut off on me. Both times I was able to safely move off the road way. Upon trying to restart the car it would turn off just fine but never start up. Both times I was lucky enough to have a state trooper stop and jump start me using a jump pack. I have had my battery tested and it is fine. The dealer ship stated that there are no error codes showing up so they can't diagnose what is wrong. This is an accident just waiting to happen!.

When the key is put inside the ignition, it takes a couple of tries for the engine to start (if at all) after failing multiple times. After it starts, sometimes the engine shuts down completely when I am driving at 30+mph and when I hit a stop sign/red light! this is very dangerous and needs to be fixed!.

At random times the engine will just shut down and I have no power steering at all. It has happened over 15 times now generally when I come to a full stop and also when I am taking a right hand turn at slow speeds.
