42 Car Stall problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/25/2018

Today's date is April 10, 2018. Our 2011 Dodge Durango citadel began stalling and the engine shutting off without warning on February 25, 2018. It happened again on April 8th, 2018 and then again on April 9, 2018. Each time it has happened, there is no warning. The first time it happened my wife was making a right hand turn and almost ended up in a head-on collision. The second time it happened, I was making a stop after getting off an exit ramp. And the most recent time, 4/9/18, my wife was driving down a hill and coming to a stop at an intersection. The last two times we have experienced this. The vehicle loses all power, including brakes and power steering, which proves a little challenging if making a turn into traffic. I called Chrysler in the us but because I purchased this vehicle used and was not aware that it was originally shipped and titled in canada, the us company proved not to be helpful. Ultimately, I am very concerned about this due to the potential for serious consequences. I have owned 4-5 Chrysler products (2005 and 2011 Dodge Durangos, 2003 Jeep grand cherokee and 2007 Chrysler aspen. This is the first time with an engine issue and more importantly, poor customver service. I have done research on the internet and it could be anything from the tpim control module, the alternator, the fuel pump relay, etc.

50 Car Stall problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/28/2017

Fuel relay recall -- no problems before replacement, replaced in Dec 2015 and since have had car stall intermittently while driving kids to school 5 times. The three most recent happening at a more frequent basis -- and in last 90 days. I lose total power of the car while driving, it goes into a stall and we have to pull over, let it sit for !10 minutes and it will restart and go. Typically it is when I am slowing down and going into a turn or bigger curve on the road. I have taken back to Dodge to ask them to fix -- diognostics tells them nothing wrong and they will not replaced the already recalled (and replaced) part as they say they cannot confirm it is the cause. Meanwhile, I am driving a car that may stall at anytime even though dealership cannot find on diognostic tests.

53 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/02/2017

My wife was driving our Durango when it suddenly lost all power. She had to muscle it to the side of the road, where she attempted numerous times to restart it. Prior to that, often times you would turn the key and the dash lights would come on and the car would do nothing. . . Not even turn over. After a few attemps, it would start. After the stall, we brought it into our local Dodge dealer (dutchess Dodge) where the service department kept it for a few days, said they could not recreate our concerns, cleaned numerous electrical connections, charged us $500 and recommended we change a "win" module at about $800 plus labor but could not guarnatee this would fix the issue. The service person even admitted it could be the tipm but that they couldn't be sure and the fix of the win module was the first recommedation. He also added that some components in the tipm were loose and that they checked and cleaned them also and that for all they know it could have fixed the issue. I informed them that I could not afford to continue to throw money into "trial and error" fixes and to just button it up and give it back to us. A week later, it happened to my wife again, only this time, as she was pulling off to the side of the road, it re-started on it's own. We called the service department back and their reply was that they recommended changing the win module. This vehilcle has 62000 miles and has been regularly serviced by me and cared for like a baby. This is not an issue of use or abuse, it is faulty parts and we should not be responsible. I feel like I should just trade this in and after of lifetime of being a loyal mopar customer, go in a different direction.

54 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

58 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/19/2017

As I turned right, the vehicle once again stalled. The engine turned off, but all the electrical systems continued to work. I placed my foot on the gas to demonstrate that it would not move while the vehicle was still in drive. Then I did the same with the break to demonstrate that it wouldn't respond. I put the vehicle in park with my foot on the brake and the vehicle restarted. My children were in the vehicle and my oldest son recorded until we reached the intended stopping point. The mileage on the vehicle was 94,624. The vehicle had a trigger box / flight recorder, but it quit functioning the previous week when the car also stopped last week.

59 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/15/2017

My battery light came on. Within minutes all the other lights on my dashboard came on, my air starting blowing hot and then it started to stall. Luckily I was on a small road and was able to coast off onto the grass. The car was dead and smoke was pouring from the alternator. I went and bought a new battery and alternator. Within in 2 minutes of installing both, my car did the same exact thing. I had to have it towed to the dealership. I was told it was the alternator. I explained that I had already replaced it and think it could be more severe. They told me they would replace the alternator with labor I'm looking at $1200. That's not including if that doesn't fix the issue. They sais it could have fried my (pcm) power control module which could cost me at least $1000 more plus labor. How is it they aren't recalling the 2012 Durango with 180 amp alternator but all the others? this car is only 5 years old, I shouldn't have had to replace the alternator going on 3 times now. I don't feel safe driving my son in this car anymore. I've seen enough complaints saying this caused accidents since the car just dies while driving.

60 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/11/2017

Our Dodge Durango stalled as I was turning left. When I went to push the trigger box, it did not work and will not come back on. I restarted the car and waited, but the trigger box no longer works. This is of course strange because once again, nothing can be recorded. The key fob battery is brand new and the push button was in use. I have a video for documentation. The mileage is 94,017. We have recorded via trigger box daily jerks with the Durango and now the major issue we needed documentation of can't be captured because the device no longer operates.

61 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/30/2017

I came to a stop at a stop light to turn right and the vehicle stalled. I didn't have time to record it because there were cars coming down the exit behind me. The flight recorder the dealership placed on the vehicle didn't work so there was nothing to capture.

63 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

Around 7:20 am I had just exited a ramp to go beneath the underpass to turn left. The mileage change was 60 mph to 35 mph. Before the car could come to a complete stop applied by brakes, it stalled. There were other vehicles behind us who had to go around. My children were with me and one recorded to show that the vehicle was still in drive and that the brake and the gas would not receive a response from the car. This is the third day in a row that vehicle has stalled since we received in back from the dealership.

65 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/22/2016

Vehicle looses power and stalls when approaching a stop (while still in motion). I have to place vehicle in park and restart vehicle in order to continue driving. I am very concerned that this is going to cause me to be rear-ended at some point as it does happen prior to me arriving at a stop sign or stop light. This has been happening for approx. The last 3-4 week and becoming more frequent.

66 Car Stall problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/26/2016

Safety issue on my 2011 Dodge Durango. While driving home after work late one night, the Durango started acting up like it was possessed. The lights would go on and off, the wipers went on and wouldn't shut off, seats went back and forth while driving!, radio, heat, ac. I was in traffic and finally managed to move over to a secure location out of harms way no sooner did I pull off the side of the road then the Dodge completely died. I had to coast down a hill. Tried to turn it over and nothing. No lights no radio no nothing. It was dead. Had to have it towed to the dealership. The dealer claimed it was the battery, installed a new one and sent me on my way. Fast forward to less than 2 weeks later- same problem. Driving to drop off my 5 year old and it starts acting up again completely possessed. How is this safe? I made it to work with it going crazy. At lunch, I went to start it and check it out. Dead. Brand new battery dead. 400 bucks down the drain- when that wasn't the problem. Not to mention the 200 bucks to tow. I brought it to a little shop around the corner and they couldn't find the problem and towed it back to the dealer. And there it sits. No one can figure out what is wrong with it over there. It is really pathetic. So now add'l tow charges-$200, no vehicle to get back and forth to work and child's stroke therapists, and had to break down and pay for a rental. What a joke thanks Dodge. They are well aware of the tipm issues and refuse to recall any of their vehicles. This is a huge huge safety issue. Everything just dies. . The engine the brakes don't work nothing.

Vehicle fluctuates in rpm's upon starting vehicle, while stopped in traffic and while driving down the road. Vehicle also will randomly stall with no warning while in park, while stopped at traffic signals, pulling into intersections and also while driving down the road.
