Failure Date: 06/30/2026

I tell the dealership mechanics that this car does not turn on and they keep giving me the car back and now the car completely turns off while driving making this extremely dangerous and deadly situation. My fear is something happening to me or my kids while I’m driving. I also took it back to the mechanic and told them the situation but they refused to dig deeper and told me to pick up the vehicle that there’s nothing they can do.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/24/2026

2024 Dodge Durango, purchased brand new. Ac completely stopped working at 340 miles after buying. Vehicle has had 7+ dealership visits since purchase. Vehicle has been out of service for 40+days total. Currently, vehicle has been at dealer since June 24, 2026 and is still not returned as of July 9, 2026 — 16 days ongoing with no resolution. I request NHTSA look into this. Electrical/hvac: constant leaking and repeated failures since 340 miles. Ac intermittently will not blow air at all, especially when first starting vehicle. System makes loud hissing/whistling sound from dash. Dealer has replaced the a/c condenser, discharge line, compressor, and evaporator core. On one visit, dealer found ac dye present at the hvac box drain tube indicating evaporator core was leaking. On another visit, dealer noted system was slightly low and stated "not sure if vehicle was charged properly when the condenser was replaced. " system still leaks and fails. Ac failure in tennessee summer heat creates risk of heat exhaustion and prevents defroster use. Issue still not repaired. Power train: transmission was misfiring and vehicle jolts forward when shifting into drive. Dealer performed transmission reprogramming. Dealer initially claimed they were unable to duplicate the concern and that it "operates as designed. " concern not resolved. Engine: had to have all spark plugs replaced at approximately 9,000 miles due to misfire issues. Fuel/propulsion system: gas/fuel smell reported. Dealer noted system was slightly low. Body/interior: during repeated dashboard removals for ac repairs, dealer did not properly reassemble vehicle. A screw was left out, causing dash to rattle. Dealer also removed carpet and improperly reinstalled, causing damage. All defects occurred under 10,000 miles. Dealer has performed multiple major component replacements on the ac system. Issue still persists. Vehicle has severe diminished value due to 9+ repair attempts and 40+days out of service. Legal case .

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 05/22/2026

To whom it may concern, on [xxx] at around [xxx] pst, I was taking my car to get a car wash at quick quack car wash located in [xxx] . While waiting in line for the other cars to go in, all of sudden I see a huge fire flame shoot out from under the hood. My car was on full fire extremely rapidly, in front of the multiple cars and near the entrance of this car wash, while this car was in fire I ran inside and asked the personnel for a fire extinguisher, to consume the flames coming out of the hood, as I was extremely concerned about the safety and personnel of this location. As soon as I got the extinguisher, I ran towards the car and started spraying powder everywhere I saw flames coming out from top of the hood and under the car, as flames and melted material dropped down from under the car. When I saw the flames got contained, I saw a water hose near the entrance in which I went and turn on and ran to continue pouring water into the engine bay compartment in order to make sure the fire was fully contained. All I could say is that I was very scared and extremely worried that this car could explode in front of this business with all the people working there. As soon I put the fire out, my friend help me push it out of the way into the much larger empty parking lot in order for the business to continue to conduct their business. 9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/25/2026

The vehicle involved is a 2017 Dodge Durango. The primary systems malfunctioning include the engine cooling system, braking system, and electrical system. The engine repeatedly overheats while driving and has produced smoke from under the hood, creating a risk of breakdown or fire. The braking system is unreliable, with the brake pedal going down too far and not providing proper stopping power, increasing the risk of a crash. The electrical system malfunctions unpredictably, including windshield wipers and interior controls turning on and off without input. These issues have occurred multiple times and have left the vehicle stranded on the side of the road, including at night. This has placed the driver and passengers at risk in unsafe conditions and traffic environments. The problems began shortly after purchase and have been ongoing. The issues have not been properly resolved. A mechanic was supposed to inspect the vehicle, but it is unknown if a full inspection was completed. Warning signs included overheating temperature readings, smoke, weak braking response, and electrical irregularities prior to failure. The vehicle is currently not reliable or safe to operate due to these ongoing safety defects.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2019 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/04/2026

At 37008 miles my coolant started to leak and it overheated, when taking to a mechanic they replaced the coolant and tubes and advised that it was rubbing on the hose, so they replaced the hoses and put in new coolant fluid and said it was all addressed, not even a week later, it started to overheat again even though it has all new hoses and they wrapped the hoses so it doesn't wear and cause the leak again and it still happened.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2026 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/30/2026

1) major transmission failure, fluid leakage, and visible undercarriage corrosion on a newly leased car with under 3k miles on it. Additional: losing vehicle function. Car would not shift into gear and would not move. Car is currently at the dealership in which it was leased. 2) yes, huge safety concern. Losing vehicle function while traveling on a bridge—with limited ability to safely stop posed a serious risk to our safety and to others on the road. 3) yes, problem has been confirmed by dealer. 4) the vehicle has not been inspected at this time by anyone other than the dealership in which it was leased. 5)while accelerating at approximately 30–35 mph, the vehicle began emitting a high-pitched whining noise, similar to sound of a remote-control toy car. The vehicle then started jerking back and forth during acceleration. Shortly after, the “check engine” light illuminated. We activated our hazard lights, reduced speed to approximately 10-20 mph, exited the bridge, and pulled into an emergency stopping area. There was no prior warning that there was a problem.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/27/2026

My vehicle constantly stalls at idle or while stopped at a traffic light or stop sign. I was so bothersome is that the vehicle rolls back during these endeavors. It usually happens 3 or 4 times a day. I've taken in to the dealer for the recall they replaced the recall parts, but it still continues to stall. It's more frustrating when I'm at a stoplight and I have people behind me honking because the vehicle rolls back as it stalls.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/25/2026

The vehicle experiences sudden engine shutdown while driving. The engine completely turns off without warning. There are no warning lights, no check engine light, and no prior indication of failure. The exact component causing the failure is unknown at this time, but it appears to involve the engine and/or electrical system. The vehicle is available for inspection and has been taking to doge and nothing is being done yet. The vehicle shuts off while I am actively driving, causing immediate loss of power. This creates a dangerous situation because I lose acceleration and power steering while in traffic. I transport six children daily in this vehicle. Sudden engine shutdown while driving significantly increases the risk of a crash, especially in traffic or at higher speeds. This is a serious safety hazard for my family and others on the road. The dealership has not confirmed the cause. The vehicle has been taken in multiple times for service and diagnostics, and over $4,000 has been spent on repairs. However, the stalling issue continues and has not been resolved. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Dodge dealership service department multiple times. No manufacturer representative has inspected the vehicle yet. There were no warning lamps, no check engine light, and no dashboard messages prior to the engine shutting off. The shutdown occurs without any advance warning. The vehicle operates normally and then abruptly turns off. Given the sudden loss of power while driving and the risk of collision, I believe this may be a broader safety defect that could potentially affect other vehicles of the same model.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2019 Dodge Durango

The vehicle was taken to the same mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the cam lobes were worn and needed to be replaced. The mechanic confirmed the findings with the dealer, and it was confirmed that it was a known issue due to the heat treatment to harden the steel not being properly performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not covered under recall or warranty. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 66,700.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2019 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/15/2026

First, very hard time trying to file a complaint with Dodge, they make it hard to find info. To make it short, I have a Dodge Durango rt, only 83,000 miles. The vehicle would not start, and was smoking out the back. Was hoping it was something simple brought it to my mechanic. Turns out there was an oil leak, manifold leak and the starter died. I had to tow my car. Called the Dodge company, and they flat out said they could not help me and would not do an escalation because I didn't bring it to a Dodge dealer but "who knew" I would have all these problems, thought it could be something simple and $2200 later. They were so rude, unhelpful and just horrible service. Keep repeating they would not help me or even have a conversation? the sad part is I really love this vehicle. There needs to be an investigation to see if other customers are having these problems because then it's a manufacturing issue. I know they are a huge company and I just a person to them. But I need to know if this is an ongoing problem??? this is not the normal failure on a vehicle, again maybe this was a factory engine problem while being built.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Dodge Durango

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/26/2026

We have researched and noticed there was an open recall in the past with the pcm. We are now experiencing issues such as rough idling, poor fuel economy, stalling and poor acceleration.

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2015 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/12/2026

Engine light came on, no warning. Took to garage to check diagnostic system, went through system, did some work and light went off. Week later, light back on. . Took back to garage - they documented all they saw within diagnostic system and sent me to dealer. There was no indication of failure, drove fine but dealer made appt. Did some research and found out this year/make/model had complete engine failure at low mileage. No recall ever made. 3. 6l pentastar v6. Dealer took apart manifold, ran compression test, intake/exhaust valves leaking, engine block flatness - had to replace engine block. No precipitation of this issue other than engine light. A complete engine failure without an accident, at low mileage and a known issue without a recall on a specific engine is quite concerning. I basically paid $14, 400 for a new engine where I could have bought a used Durango . My 2000 Durango had well over 100k miles when I donated to charity and purchased this 2015 in 2016 off lot as used with 22 miles on it. I am not sure how to reconcile this damage and out-of-pocket expense for a known issue when no recall was made. Did I buy a lemon? given the same engine was put back in, will I have to replace again in another 50k miles? I feel like I am due some type of refund given this problem is a known problem but no recall was issued. Thankfully it did not overheat, blow the engine while driving or cause an accident given this issue was a ticking time bomb.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2024 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/08/2026

The contact owns a 2024 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while releasing to neutral. There was an orange release lever that was inoperable. The fuel pump was bad. The two batteries were leaking. While driving, the vehicle suddenly stopped. The vehicle had to be jump-started. No warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to technical service bulletin (TSB): s2408000066. The contact used an extra light on top of the vehicle and behind it when disabled. The vehicle was towed and dragged three times from the interstate to the local dealer. The dealer confirmed there was no warranty coverage. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined the fuel was bad. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, franklin Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram, at 1124 murfreesboro rd b, franklin, TN 37064, who said the fuel pump was bad. A mobile mechanic was called, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was contacted and offered assistance with the repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2019 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/02/2026

Took vehicle in for cooling issues, leaking coolant. Garage did courtesy inspection and determined oil cooler failure had caused catastrophic damage to the engine, requiring replacement. Mechanic informed me this particular shop deals with this issue 3-5 times every week, with about one per month requiring full engine replacement. The engine is the 3. 6l v6 pentastar, which is standard in Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and Plymouth vehicles and this is a defect known to the manufacturer. My mechanic informed me that both Dodge and the current manufacturer of the engine had tried and failed to correct the problem, because it is an actual design flaw. Caused in part, by the oil cooler being constructed of plastic and mounted at the top of the engine, it is subject to heat and warping which causes the failure. . Mechanic said this is typical around 100k miles. My Durango has 108k, 6k out of the warranty I bought for $4,500 at the dealership, just shy of 3 years ago. This is a known defect. Why is there no recall or remedy for a consumer now facing a $17,000 engine replacement on a $30,000 used vehicle? Dodge knows this is a problem, what is a consumer’s recourse for trusting they make quality vehicles when this presents a major safety issues to anyone with the 3. 6l? my dealership never notified me of this issue, nor did the manufacturer. At least a heads up to change to an aftermarket metal oil cooler, to avoid catastrophic loss? this is wrong.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2018 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/02/2026

Over time, the valvetrain in my engine became gradually louder. Because there were no check engine lights or fault codes, I initially assumed this was a normal characteristic of the engine. That changed on January 2, 2026, when I began to hear a pronounced knocking/loud tapping noise accompanied by a cylinder 8 misfire. At that point, I stopped driving the vehicle and had it towed to a repair shop. Based on the symptoms, we initially believed the issue would be limited to a camshaft and lifter replacement. However, after draining the oil and cutting open the oil filter, a significant amount of metal debris was discovered. Further inspection revealed that one camshaft lobe had been worn down nearly smooth and the corresponding lifter had failed. When the camshaft was removed for full evaluation, all other lobes showed normal, even wear. Only the lobe associated with the failed lifter exhibited catastrophic damage beyond repair. As a result of the metal contamination throughout the engine, a full engine replacement was required rather than a repair of individual components. The basis of my complaint is that this failure appears to be a well-documented and common issue with the 6. 4l hemi engine equipped with mds. I have since reviewed numerous reports and forum discussions describing nearly identical failures—often beginning with increased valvetrain noise, followed by a single-cylinder misfire and extensive internal damage. This was not the result of neglect or abuse, but rather a known failure mode that ultimately led to the complete loss of the engine.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/01/2026

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the check engine warning light illuminated. Approximately three weeks later, while stopped at a light, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly. The gear shifter was shifted to park(p) to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and it was determined that the timing chain was blown. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was subsequently taken to an independent mechanic on several occasions, where it was diagnosed and determined that there were failures with oxygen sensors, head gaskets, oil pan, oil pump, b2s1 heater, that the intake manifold was cracked, there was cylinder #2 misfire, and the circuit harness needed to be repaired, and dtc: p0300 was retrieved. The vehicle was repaired each time, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 190,000.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2021 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/12/2025

The engine cooling system on my 2021 Dodge Durango gt failed due to ruptured coolant lines, including the rear coolant tubes supplying the rear air conditioning system and both transmission heater hoses. These lines carry engine coolant to the rear hvac system and transmission. The ruptures caused coolant loss and engine overheating during normal operation. The failure appears related to the routing of the lines near the transmission housing, causing excessive wear not attributable to driver error. This model year has a documented history of similar failures. The vehicle and components are available for inspection and are currently at the dealership. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the vehicle overheated while I was driving at normal speed in traffic. A major overheating warning appeared while driving. Overheating in traffic creates a risk of sudden loss of power or the need to stop unexpectedly, which could result in a collision. Although I was able to drive slowly due to proximity to home, this condition would be hazardous on longer trips. The issue was confirmed by an authorized Dodge dealership, which verified failure of the coolant lines and provided an estimated repair cost of approximately $3,600. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership. A third-party warranty provider (warranty solutions) denied coverage, and I am disputing the decision. The vehicle remains at the dealership because I do not feel it is safe to drive. No prior warning signs were present. The overheating warning appeared suddenly at approximately 62,000 miles. I noticed the smell of coolant upon arrival at the dealership, indicating an active leak.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2019 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/10/2025

Oil cooler failure . I am concerned because my mechanic says this is a common problem with this type of motor. Why isn't it recall.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/21/2025

Push start vehicle stalls 3 to 5 times. While driving the dash board flickers on and off. Navigation system screen blacks out radio turns on when I have it off. 30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/06/2025

Under heavy load or high rpm the engine starts shaking badly and the engine loses power and is very unresponsive to throttle. After 30 seconds of light use the problem goes away but comes back immediately upon heavy load or high rpms. There is a technical service bulletin about this, TSB: 09-011-25. The computer indicates a severe misfire on cylinder #1. I first took the Durango to my mechanic since it is out of warranty. The replaced the coil on cylinder #1 and all spark plugs, but the problem continued since the issue is a manufacturer's defect inside the engine. When this occurred the engine light came on the dashboard but nothing prior to the shaking, only after the shaking started.

33 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2018 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/22/2025

While driving on the thruway, the vehicle tends to misfire which results in lost power to the engine and shaking of the vehicle. The check engine light starts flashing and it becomes unsafe to maintain speeds. The issue was diagnosed as cylinder 5 misfire caused by camshaft and lifter failure. This sudden loss of power while driving at highway speeds could cause an accident if it happens during traffic or passing situations. This is a known issue with the 2018 Dodge Durango gt v6 and should be a recall on the vehicle. This is a major engine issue.

34 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2019 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/22/2025

I was driving my vehicle and the engine light came on and the car started overheating. I had to immediately pull over. There was fluid underneath my vehicle again. This occurred twice in 6 months. The engine coolant lines have a whole in them. This is the 2nd repair for the same issue in 6 months. The vehicle has been sitting for over 3 weeks at Dodge. They have not answered or responded to our claims. The vehicle poses a safety risk as it instantly overheats and you lose power. The coolant lines under the vehicle are not secured at all and rub against other parts under the vehicle.

35 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2022 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/18/2025

Vehicle engine shut off while driving approximately 50mph. No prior issues or warning lamps. The failure happened without any warning. I had over half a tank of fuel at the time of the stall. Loss of engine propulsion is extremely dangerous as I was in rush hour traffic on a major highway in houston, TX. Luckily the stall occurred at an exit and I was able to safely get to a area to pull over. Dash read out said I needed to be in park to start the engine. Engine started without issue and I finished my drive home.
