The engine in my vehicle stalls without warning while driving, which poses a significant safety risk, particularly on busy roadways where it could lead to accidents, endangering both myself and other drivers. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed in the past by a certified Dodge dealership auto shop, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. However, the vehicle or its components have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Before the engine stalls, the electronic throttle control lamp flashes, the vehicle gives a noticeable jerk, and then the engine shuts down. This problem occurs at any speed but has not happened when the vehicle is at a full stop.

While driving the engine began to vibrate violently and the check engine light turned on. Luckily I was close to the dealership because I live in a small town with one major road. I was able to quickly slow down without crashing or causing an accident and slowly drove to dealership. If I was at any significant speed I could have crashed injuring myself and my two small children.

My 2013 Durango with 124,000 miles has a check engine light on, that indicates cylinder 4 miss fire. The airpark Dodge service department where I purchased the vehicle has done a diagnostic evaluation and determined that the left cylinder head needs replacing. That falls within the x56 engine left cylinder head extended warranty for some VIN # vehicles, but not mine. The estimated repair is over $5000. 00. I am told that the engine can cease up while driving, and that I should not be driving the vehicle. I think my vehicle should be included, especially since this x56 warranty extension has been out since 2014. How do I get this x56 warranty on my vehicle? and how do I get reimbursed for the cost of the repair?.
While driving paved road noticed a cloud of smoke behind the vehicle. Immediately pulled to the side of the road and shut vehicle off. After checking under the vehicle found coolant leaking from the engine compartment, there was no coolant in the expansion tank either. Any driving would have resulted in engine destruction. Called a tow truck. After waiting on the side of the road for 5 hours for tow truck, vehicle was taken to the nearest dealer on the flatbed. At the dealer, technician stated, it is a frequent occurrence on this brand of the vehicle, and they are very familiar with repairing it. Dealership repair, exposed burst/hole, from inside out, in the coolant hose. Glad it did not happen in the winter; I might not be typing this message.

Chrysler has had a known issue with the ignition module nodes on its Dodge vehicles since 2013. However, they have failed to issue a recall on the 2011 and higher Dodge vehicles. My ignition module node is going out in my vehicle and the dealership will not recognize this as any kind of recall and is making me pay for the reprogramming and for the keys to be replaced in addition to a car rental. I am having to pay $800. This is a well-known and documented ongoing nationwide safety issue. Dodge employees have received the attached bulletin making them aware of this known issue but has failed to initiate a recall. According to their attached safety recall report for previous Dodge years, the ignition node (win) module on your vehicle may have unintentional movement of the frequency operated button ignition key (fobik) from the “on” to the “accessory” position while driving. This could cause unintended engine shut off and increase the risk of a crash.

Oil filter housing cracked resulting in a major oil leak . My vehicle just turned 125,000 miles. It ended up with an engine knock and needing to replace all of the lifters.
I was on a road trip, this is the second time it happens. A small rock hit my a/c condenser causing the freon to leak out. It happened 2 years ago after owning the car for a few days and had to pay over $1500 and happened again today. I have to bring it to the shop to see if I have the same issue. I just feels that I can’t be the only one this has happened to.
Engine stopped while driving and steering was pulling to the right. . Was able to start back up and park it. . Has p0303 code. . And p0300 code pending. . . Checked number 3 spark plugs. And engine seems to be burning oil. . Cleaned up spark plugs and white smoke is coming out driver side exhaust pipe. . Will try changing pvc valve next. .
Bought a used 17 Dodge Durango from Audi hunt valley of autonation July of 2024 nothing but any problem misfires camshaft issue camshaft has been replaced twice now in less than a year and now it needs a new transmission. I purchased an extended warranty for engine and transmission. Now they are not covering it I spoke to somebody through corporate office. Put a complaint in. I also contacted Dodge. There’s also a claim with them as well. Nobody has reached out for the corporate office so I bought a vehicle that didn’t even last a year that needs a transmission. That’s not a reliable vehicle safety concern I have all documentation from repair shops that work has been done. I’ve also have been in contact with an attorney about this so something needs to be done ASAP before I file a lawsuit. I want a different vehicle or my money back.

Vehicle has a long crank time. Vehicle will not start after approximately 10 seconds. The vehicle will start on the second try. There is a strong smell of fuel after that. I have taken the vehicle in multiple times with the dealership saying nothing is wrong or they can’t duplicate the problem. I have showed the dealership videos of it happening and feel that they are not taking it seriously. The problem is getting worse and I fear that one day either I will be stranded or the vehicle will shut off while I’m am driving it.

This SUV has had 2 recalls for the same fuel system relay problem, and now after approximately 2or3 yrs ago, and now it's doing the same exact thing again, you'll be driving down the road and it will just shut off and a red lighting built will show up, lucky we had a safe place to pull off the road and get stopped, but this is a very dangerous situation for my wife and kids to be in.
The automatic stop/start erg valve.
Please see attached, and advise if you need additional information. As you will see, I've tried to contact someone on multiple occasions in regards to this issue. And as of yet, I have had no response.
1. Oil cap/oil cooler reservoir leaking oil and antifreeze on engine. I will be replacing soon and will keep defective part for your review. 2. Safety concern is that due to oil and coolant can pool up on top of engine, the liquids could catch on fire. This create high safety risk to my family and other people that may try to put out fire. 3. The leaking issue is well known to dealers and repair shops. Many on line leak issue noted. The original oil cooler reservoir base is made of plastic. Since the cooler is sitting right on top of pentastar 3. 6 engine, the plastic base is exposed to severe heat and heat/temp cycles. The suspect cause of leaks points to plastic base warping creating seal leaks or stress cracks in housing. Part should be more a robust material like aluminum. 4. Leak was found recently April 17, 2024, by service tech during oil change. No oil or temp lights came on. Has not been reviewed by police, manuf, insurance. Cost to repair $800 to $1200.
Start/stop feature says it is unavailable causing vehicle to not shut off when stopped as well as causing vehicle to give message saying start/stop feature unavailable due to hood open which then causes vehicle to shut off once stopped and requires vehicle to be shifted into park and restarted for message to come back on. This issue happens when driving and once stopped causes vehicle shut off in traffic causing huge safety concerns and issues.
Leaking transmission oil cooler, due to clamp installation by factory. Known issue which Dodge created service bulletin for but does not correct sending bill to consumer, for manufacturer defect.
The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 45 mph, the vehicle experienced a loss of automotive power, and the instrument panel became inoperable. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact safely maneuvered onto an exit and parked the vehicle for several minutes before restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed; however, the contact was informed that the cause for the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

Car started leaking coolant underneath. The dealership told us the lines that control the rear heat are leaking. And it’s a major job. $ 3100. 00 we were told. The coolant lines are back ordered and have had it for over 5 weeks and still not fixed. That is ridicules for a vehicle with only 74k….
The manufactured plastic oil housing unit cracked during negative temperatures on Jan 14th in webb city mo. I had a pool of oil under my car, and now my engine shakes during low idle. This needs to recalled because it should be replaced with the aluminum housing unit.
The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact stated that there was a recall for the failure; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact researched online and became aware of NHTSA action number: 10239957 (engine and engine cooling) however, the VIN was not included. The contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The component I am referring to is the fuel pump and fuel sending unit. The vehicle has starting issues, when starting it gives about 30 seconds of continues cranking before starting. Sometimes the vehicle will go through that cycle—unable to turn off at any point and eventually quit on its own. The only way to be replicated is roughly after being idle for 30 minutes- and then having the car turned off and on again. Or by happening randomly-at a stop light with the auto start feature turned on. This provides a hazard as there is moving traffic and the car can stall or not start in time. The vehicle is currently at the Dodge dealership getting repaired however there are multiple complaints about this happening on many website forums. Unknown if the issues was reproduced by dealer, however they ran a test and determined the fuel pump was running lower than the specified psi as per the manufacturer—but I never got the true reading. Unknown if the dealership went into detailed inspection of fuel pump. There are no warning lamp signs or any codes sent through the obd ii monitor.
A new 3. 6 pentastar engine was installed in my 2014 Dodge Durango in July 2019, this repair was over $5,000 and fca only granted a $1300 goodwill towards the cost. After maintaining the vehicle with a new engine in it, this engine is now failing too. The problem is due to the right cylinder head being damaged. This has caused a knocking noise emitting from the engine and rough idling whenever the vehicle is on. A tune up was done last year in December when check engine light came on, with new spark plugs and filters put in but this has not solved the issued. Taking the vehicle back to mechanic to do further diagnostic, a pressure test was done showing the 6 cylinder had no pressure. A damage head with possible damage to crankshaft rods and rocker arms. This vehicle is our main vehicle for our family, and the price to repair this damage on the second engine this car has had is too high. If we continue driving this vehicle, we would result in total power failure, worst case a blown engine. Complaints have been filed with attorney general of the state of florida along with the better business bureau.

Front differential has went out. The motor is also over heating and has been since I’ve got the car.
I bought this car, bran new off the dealer and it has been in perfect shape until 120,000 miles. All of a sudden the check engine light comes in and turns out it was the head gasket!! 5 years old, hasn't needed a thing and the mechanic tells me I need a new engine!? what good is it if I buy a brand new car and take perfect care of it all to end up with the engine going to shit. I have heard other people saying the same thing with their 3. 6l pentastar engine. At 120k. . . I don't see that being a coincidence if it keeps happening with the same engine at the same amount of miles. There is definitely a problem here. P. S won't let me upload documents on the mechanics diagnosis.
On 11/4/2023 I turned off my Durango. 10 minutes later I turn it on and it makes a clicking noise and wouldn't turn over. After 10 attempts to start I let it rest for the evening. The following day 11/5/2023 I try to restart and it stalled. After 5 more attempts the vehicle stalled after 10 seconds each time. 11/6/2023 I contacted my insurance company to have my vehicle towed because it wasn't drivable to the local Dodge dealership. After 4 days they diagnosed the problem as an egr valve. They contacted other dealerships to purchase one and there wasn't any available. They also said that the part is on back order with no date for the future. Prior to the Durango refusing to start there was no warning lights on. The vehicle died in my relatives yard thankfully and not during operation otherwise it could have been fatal. The problem has been confirmed by the local Dodge dealership and is available at that location for inspection. I have no documentation yet as it's still sitting at the dealership waiting for the back ordered part to magically arrive.
Oil filter housing cracked resulting in a major oil leak . My vehicle just turned 120,000 miles this is the 2nd Durango I have owned that has developed the same issue. The first time it ended up with an engine knock this time I hope to have caught it soon enough.
My engine failed with no notice while driving on the interstate leaving me coasting under no power leading to a very unsafe situation being that was no prior warning. The engine failure was under normal highway driving speeds. The dealership said that it was a catastrophic engine failure which brings up possibly a risk of fire the vehicle only has 24k miles on the odometer so very immature failure. Note** after talking to several other Durango srt owners several have had the same engine failure concern. I don't have total stats on this but to me there has to be a design flaw that could lead a motorist to be put in an unsafe situation. I will upload supporting documentation later.
I was just driving then out of nowhere. No warning no lights inmitted on dash no idea the engine will shut off. Replace alternator, battery,starter,3 pcm, still no luck. Noticed that pcm could have been the so that's why I went through 3 of em. New ,use ,and refurbish one. The dealership mechanic noticed that pcm would shut off and henced (no bus) would illuminate. Happened quite often scary part is that no warning of any source would appear on freeway residential anywhere. Engine will shut off while driving.

While driving without notice transmission light flashes and the 2011 Dodge Durango will not shift out of gear. I have had this problem in the past and told dealer but they always say they have no codes and on test drive cant confirm the issue. The first time it happened was around the 50 000 mile mark I thought nothing of it back then as I restarted the car it went away. Over the years it go worst to the point that it would happen at least once or multiple times during my daily commute it I told the dealership about it but no codes and they said on a test run no problems. I stopped driving the car in 2019 because it was too dangerous to drive daily especially in traffic due to the car unable to shift gears left me stranded in the middle of the freeway many times waiting to restart car and car would behave normal until the transmission light comes on where I have to power off Durango and restart where ever it happens freeway stop signs lights or where ever it decides to happen. I want to get this car running again but dont have the money to fix an issue that I had when it was still covered by the extended warranty and now I have to pay out of pocket because im over the milage so this car has been sitting and I feel as I been ripped off because of al the issues. Im end up dying in this thing if I take it out. Ive donr the recalls and now I see another recall for the same issue that they said they fixed is been reissued im certain all of the issues is tied to the computer unit it I already had one replaced in this car because when I took it for the alternator issue when the car just died with no warning they told me it was fried. All the recall issues that have been mandated are all the issues I had car stalling not starting battery dead and drained fuel relay power module no power how is this not a lemon. This car is a saftey issue on so many levels. Im now trying to get this car running and im still having the same issues I have 129000 miles on it now.
Vehicle is going into park while driving, when it does that I have to come to a stop and restart the vehicle. I almost got into an accident and I’m scared for my life driving this. The dealership charged me to change the alternator, the batteries and I still have the same issue.
