On July 2, 2020, I was driving my Dodge Durango up an isolated steep mountain road in the sierra nevada at about 20 mph when it suddenly stalled on a steep grade in the road. I was able to apply the emergency brakes to prevent the car from rolling backwards. There were no engine warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel and the car had been operating at normal temperature. After trying to the restart the car, the engine at first began to operate, then almost immediately hesitated and died. I tried again with the same results, and even attempted to apply the gas pedal to no avail. As someone with some previous mechanical experience, it seemed to me that it was a fuel delivery problem. The car had nearly half a tank of gas however. I popped the hood and observed nothing out of the ordinary that would indicate any problems. There was oil in the crankcase and ample coolant. My wife and I decided to wait and let the engine and vehicle cool down since it was over 90 degrees outside air temperature. After about 20 minutes, I restarted the car without problem and continued on my way. The car had previously been in automatic mode but had shifted to the lower gears. I decided to put the transmission in manual mode and keep the car in 1st and 2nd gear due to the steep terrain. We had no problems the rest of the way. We were beyond cell phone range on a very isolated road and it would have been very difficult to obtain a tow, so I am very grateful the car continued to operate after our initial problem. However, we would like to know if this problem will occur again or whether having the transmission in automative mode on a steep grade played any role.

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at a low speed, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. In addition, the contact stated that while independently replacing the air cleaner, the contact noticed oil in the air cleaner. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the pcv crank case ventilation valve and the fuel pump relay needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,200. Oo.

Vehicle purchased used in June 2010. Within days of purchase, vehicle began stalling while pulling out into traffic. Vehicle was returned to the dealer several times. Egr valve was replaced and throttle service done, idler pully replaced. Stalling problem continued to occur on and off along with hard shifting, hesitating, lack of power issues. Transmission rebuilt in Jan 2012 after it "froze" backing out of the driveway. Bell housing leak detected and fixed in June 2012. Stalling worsened, occurring not only from start up but while traveling straight in acceleration to speeds just above 40 mph. Revving in park, neutral and while stopped in traffic started in early 2013 and continues today. Have had vehicle in for service on numerous occasions with no fix to the problem. Torque converter clutch, water pump, fuel injector, coil, vacuum sensor, air intake sensor, knock sensor, pcv valve, plugs and wires have all been replaced or repaired but problems persist. This vehicle is a danger as it stalls without warning in heavy traffic and when pulling out into traffic and revvs so high at stops that I have had to put both feet on the brake to prevent it from lurching into the vehicle in front of me.

After loading our boat at a reservoir and prepping the boat on the trailer, I started the Durango to leave the lake, and the engine was knocking. A guy from the marina came by and said "it's knocking isn't it, that is the third Dodge this summer. After having it towed to the nearest dealer and waiting a week for a diagnosis I was told that there is an evacuation canister mounted on the frame rail about mid-vehicle. If the vent to this canister gets in the water it will suck water into the intake of the engine. The engine had hydro-locked and was destroyed. I was told that even though we only had 37,000 miles on the vehicle, Chrysler would not warranty this because it was considered submerged. 6 weeks and $7000. 00 in repairs and rental car fees, we have finally gotten our vehicle back. I was told by the mechanic that getting in water up to the hubs of the rear wheels, I would be at risk of this happening again. I am not sure that it was even in that deep when it happened the first time. I am going to get rid of this vehicle immediately.

Engine has been stalling from stopped position. On this date, I tried to pull out into traffic, but motor stalled. Almost caused a collision. I had my two children in the vehicle. So far, I have removed and cleaned throttle body. Installed new spark plugs (correct gap). Removed and cleaned pcv valve. Air filter is a k&n and is clean and oiled. Distributor, rotor, cap and plug wires all only have 20k miles on them. Check engine light has never come on. Computer is not showing any codes.
