Dodge Durango owners have reported 626 problems related to exterior lighting (under the exterior lighting category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Dodge Durango based on all problems reported for the Durango.
Water leaks into and pools in the tail lights causing the tail light to go out. Other drivers can't see the back of the car at night thus increasing risk of rear end collision. The problem was confirmed by the dealer and I was told that it is a very common problem on this model and that the manufacturer refuses to cover the $1600. 00 repair cost. There were no warnings that the light had gone out, so this is very dangerous because it's possible that you drive around for many months without realizing that your tail light is not working.

The contact owns a 2021 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front driver-side headlight would not illuminate during nighttime conditions. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed as needing both front headlights to be replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

The driver side daytime running light (drl) has stopped working. This is not a replaceable bulb, an entire head lamp assembly must be purchased, its also not really a user replaceable item. It involves removing the from bumper cover an other body parts. Im reporting this because this is a common occurrence on 2021 and up model year Dodge Durango and im hoping you get enough reports to force a recall. Lighting is required for safety, it should not be something thats so difficult and expensive to repair, and it should not be happening so frequently on this specific drl in this vehicle.
Daytime running lights works intermittently. Vehicle only has 44,000 miles.
The rear taligate track light for brakes is not working. Some of the lights are out when braking.

2024 Dodge Durango (sxt plus, gt plus, rt trims) update to my prior complaint regarding a dangerous shifter defect. Defect description: while driving and pressing the accelerator (no brake, no shifter button pressed), the transmission shifts into neutral without warning. The vehicle loses propulsion. The instrument cluster does not display or warn that it is in neutral — no chime, no message, no clear gear indicator. This matches NHTSA recall 26v262000 (fca 39d), where the instrument panel fails to show gear selection in other 2024–2025 stellantis vehicles. Widespread issue: I have replicated this multiple times on my sxt plus, a gt, and rt models. Other owners in Durango groups report the same. This is a systemic defect across Dodge Durango trims and likely the broader stellantis/Chrysler/mopar lineup. Related lawsuit: this also appears connected to the class action [xxx] et al. V. Fca us llc d/b/a stellantis (case xxx) regarding defective uconnect 5 systems in 2022–2024 Durango's and similar models. My background: I have worked in transportation most of my career, hold fdot advanced mot certification, and am completing my undergraduate degree in occupational safety and health (osha). I request NHTSA investigate this shifter and instrument cluster defect across affected Durango models. This has nearly caused a collision and endangers the public. Available: videos, records, owner statements. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Drivers side daytime running light (drl) failed. Bulb cannot be replaced, instead entire headlight must be replaced for over $1000. Dlr is a safety feature which alerts other vehicles and pedestrians that a vehicle is on or in motion. Due to poor craftsmanship of this critical Dodge part, it is reasonable to recall Dodge’s defective safety equipment.
Rear racetrack style taillight assembly had faulty gaskets when purchased, allowing for water intrusion of the taillight assembly, causing water damage to the electrical components in the light assembly and shorting the led lights.
My 2021 Dodge Durango rt have issues with front turn signal light on the driver side I have read Dodge forums and other owners are experiencing the same problems how isn't this a safety issue or a recall from Dodge.
Taillights holding water/condensation and making lights go dark.
Water in racetrack tailgate taillights.

My vehicle is a 2022 Dodge Durango, and suddenly, about a month ago, the driverside day-time running light stopped working. This seemed strange because it's an led light and they generally last the majority of the vehicle's life, but certainly longer than four years. Then I started to notice other Durangos locally with the same problem, all with the driver's side daytime running light only. I've checked multiple online forums as well and confirmed that this is a widespread problem. I contacted the fca hotline to report this problem and to see if Dodge had either addressed this problem or would be willing to. Each time the representative denied having a single complaint about this problem, which I knew to be false after the second time, because I knew there was at least one, mine from the first report. This repair cost over $1600, and is still not done because the headlight assembly for the driver's side is on back order. Yes, the driver-side headlight assembly is on back order, but not the passenger-side one. When asked why the passenger side is not on backorder, but the driver-side one is, I was told it's because there seems to be a widespread problem with the ones that came on the vehicle from the factory, and replacing them has caused a backorder. To add insult to injury, Dodge's own warranty does not cover this problem, and neither do their expensive extended warranties, because the problem is considered to be a "sealed beam", not the headlight assembly itself, even though the only way to replace the headlight assembly.

2022 Dodge duranago I bought last March of 2025, certified preowned with 26,700 miles. As of today March 21 2026 there was water build up in the rear racetrack light. Upon starting the car the lights began flickering and the entire racetrack bar die with no light illumination at all. I could clearly see water build up in the bottom right hand corner of the light as well as water condensation on the lower left corner of the light. Many other Durango owners reported having the same issue with the dealerships not covering this.
The driver's side led headlight has gone out. It is led and suppose to outlast the vehicle. Headlight works but turn signal doesn't in the front. This unit is over $1,000 to have replaced and multiple people are complaining about it happening to their Dodge Durango rt's as well.
The contact owns a 2022 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that after her husband restarted the vehicle, the driver's side headlight failed to illuminate. The contact related the failure to the headlamp assembly; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
Driver side daytime running light (dlr) went out without warning. Another motorist notified me. Fixing requires the entire headlamp assembly to be replaced and the part, alone, is over $1,100.
My life turn signal and parking light stopped working, my problem is the whole headlight assembly needs to be replaced just because these two items don’t work. The dealer wants over $800 for the part. Why don’t they issue a warranty or a recall on this item? it’s too much to pay just because turn signal and parking light doesn’t work.
Driver side day time running does not work. This is a very common problem with 2021 and up Dodge durang's . Driving light are a safety feature. Some states require them to be on.
Drivers drl failed within 3 yrs. This is led and supposed to last 10-15 yrs. Extended bumper to bumper warranty won’t cover. It’s nearly 2k to fix. Risk is less visibility during daytime to other drivers. Is this led bulb, electrical, fuse, ballast? no one seems to know. 2 dealerships say have to replace entire headlight system for nearly 2k!!!.

The driver's side daytime running light white led strip is inoperable. After internet research this complaint is very common and similar to the tail "racetrack" light recall. Because daytime running increases visibility of vehicles on the road, this is safety related. I have since observed several late year model Durangos with this exact fault. Stelantis/Dodge/Chrysler will not warranty the fault and the corrective action is to remove and replace the entire headlamp assembly at an estimated cost of $2k parts and labor.
Its going to cost me $2,120+ in parts plus labor at the dealer to replace my front left turn signal. Unless I come up with close to $3,000 I am forced to drive around without a functioning front left turn signal. This is dangerous and very concerning to me. The headlights on the 2021+ Dodge Durango are a totally integrated unit. Each headlamp contains the drl and turn signal units as led's. Once the led or its electronics fail, the entire headlamp assembly must be replaced. And you have to remove the front fascia pieces of body work to remove the headlight units. This is not a job the average person can do reliably, even if they have the money. I even purchased a Dodge/Chrysler mopar factory extended warranty when I bought the Durango, that is good for 7 yrs/125k miles. My 2021 Dodge Durango has 69,420 miles on it as of today. Dodge is refusing to cover this part under the warranty. I was told this today by the local dealer in myrtle beach, SC. This is not right that consumers have to pay thousands of $$$ to replace a turn signal. Very dangerous.
I am filing a complaint regarding a known defect with the rear racetrack taillight assembly on the 2017 Dodge Durango gt. The rear racetrack taillight allows water and moisture to enter the sealed housing. Over time, this causes condensation buildup, corrosion, and partial or complete failure of the led lighting. In my case, the racetrack light has gone out and shows visible water inside the assembly. This issue creates a safety concern because the rear lighting becomes dim or nonfunctional, reducing visibility to other drivers, especially at night or during rain. In some cases, the electrical issues may also affect other vehicle lighting or electrical components. This problem is widely reported by many Dodge Durango owners across multiple model years, yet the taillight assembly design has not been properly corrected. Owners are often required to replace the entire racetrack taillight at high cost, even though the failure is due to a design defect rather than wear and tear. I believe this issue should be formally investigated, acknowledged, and addressed through a recall or manufacturer-supported repair, as it impacts vehicle safety and visibility. + affects ipc and electrical of vehicle where dimming is not happening and flashes which could lead to ipc failure and high costs additionally. Thank you for reviewing this complaint.

21 Dodge Durango driver’s led daytime running light went out, a lot of people having same issues specially with 21’s.
Water had accumulated in the racetrack led light in the center of the trunk. Causing light to short circuit and lose taillight, license plate light, and back up lights as well.
The rear tail lights are not properly sealed. It allows rain, snow or car wash water to accumulate inside the assembly. The lights then short out and do not work.
This complaint is for the tail light center light, race track light. Water has built up inside the lens after multiple times draining. The water has cased the racetrack light to completely burn out.
Rear tail light not working filled with water and burned out led.
I don't understand this vehicle is still fairly new and my daytime running light on the driver side stop working for some reason and I don't understand I also noticed all the lighting system in the rear all has water in it now I'm worried is all the lighting in this car going to go bad because I see it in a lot of cars out here on the road. I tried everything in the settings I've tried everything.
Front right turn signal went out after three years and I’m told I need to replace the entire light which is $1400 by itself. These led lights are supposed to last a long time.
The SUV has been experiencing electrical issues that started first one of the headlights stopped working, the white light around it, then it was the tailgate got a liftgate open error on the display even when the liftgate was closed, then we started to notice other electrical issues with the vehicle but the major problem that happened now is that while we were driving, all of the lights of the dashboard started to light up and the car was not responding to the accelerator pedal was not responding at all and we stalled in the middle of the street, we were lucky this didn't happen while we were on the freeway, we are afraid to use the car anymore because of this, the dealer refuses to take care of this issue because the warranty has passed but this is a major safety issue that can cause injury or death.
Left driver side led turn signal strip malfunctions.
My vehicle experienced failure of both the driver-side drl (daytime running light) and the passenger-side front turn signal within a short period of time. On this model year, both components are part of a sealed led headlight assembly with no replaceable bulbs. The only repair option is full headlight assembly replacement, quoted at $800–$1,200 per side plus labor. This is a safety issue because front drl and turn signal failure reduces vehicle visibility to oncoming traffic. Online reports show numerous other 2021–2023 Durango owners experiencing the same problem with the led drl/turn-signal assemblies, suggesting a pattern of premature failure. Stellantis has also faced known issues with sealed led lighting on the Durango’s ‘racetrack’ taillight assemblies, indicating a broader led reliability issue on these vehicles. I am requesting NHTSA review this as a potential safety-related defect, as owners are forced into high-cost headlight replacements due to non-serviceable led modules failing early.
Daytime running lights on driver's side inop. Due to led strips in headlamps not working. Someone pulled out in front of me from a side road, almost causing an accident. This seems to be a common issue with this model of years from Dodge. There are no warning lamps or any symptoms. I noticed it when I parked in front of a store and noticed in the reflection in the glass that the driver's side drl not working and remembered someone pulling out in front of me earlier that day and wondered if this may have been the reason for this. There needs to be a better bulb replacement requirement from the government to keep manufacturers from requiring a whole $1200 headlamp assembly (plus labor) just because a couple of led strips stopped working. It seems to be a common problem since there are many forums about others having the same issue with only the driver's side headlamp drl's going out.
Race light tail lights went out. Water can get in around light . Known issue in class action lawsuit.
