Front Air Bag Problems of Dodge Durango - part 1

I have a 2001 Durango that was just totaled with heavy front end damage. Not one of the air bags deployed in this accident.

The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Durango. While driving 35 mph downhill on a wet road, the vehicle rear ended another vehicle. The impact was 40 mph into a skid. None of the air bags deployed. The contact's knees were slammed into the console and were sore. Six vehicles were involved in the chain reaction crash. The contact's vehicle sustained extensive front end damage. Police report number 08041580 was filed. The dealer information was unavailable. The current and failure mileages were 78,000.

Driver airbag warning lamp comes on intermittently, and vehicle stalls. Been back tot he dealer numerous times and all modules reprogrammed over and over with no resolution.

Passenger airbag turns off without anyone in seat, or with someone in seat who exceeds weight limit. . Not all the time,but sporadically. Have had it into Dodge dealership numerous times, even had a Dodge/Chrysler specialist fly in to repair. Still not repaired.

The contact has been experiencing problems with the steering and front end while driving vehicle. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership three times since may 2005. While driving on a two lane road the vehicle started making a noise, then it veered to the left. This resulted in an accident. Upon impact, the air bags did deploy.

I bought a 2003 Durango for my daughter in April, 2004 from hertz car sales. Last Saturday morning she was driving home with two other passengers in the car and she hit a light pole. I would guess that they hit at about 35 mph. The impact stopped the car pretty suddenly. She was wearing her seat belt, but the other two weren't. The airbags never went off. The person in the passenger side almost broke thru the windshield. He had a concussion, needed stitches and broke his hip on the dash. I expect that to be the greatest liability. The bumper is bent way back. The repair is in excess of $10k, but my daughter is afraid the airbags don't even work. What can we do?.

The vehicle was in the park position, when the consumer turned the key, the vehicle just accelerated. The vehicle spun around, made a left hand cut going into a ditch and hitting a tree. While stopped at a red light, my family and I were rearended by a camry traveling between 40 and 50 mph. We were pushed into the car in front of us which was also pushed into another car in front of that. Our Durango suffered $14,500. 00 in repair costs. The seatbelts never deployed. I, the driver, was thrown into the steering wheel. My wife in the front passenger seat, was thrown into the windshield. My daughter was buckled in a car seat in the back seat. Although her shoes flew off her feet, she was restrained. My son, however, hit his tooth on the seat in front of him; he was belted in the 3rd seat.

While traveling about 55mph on highway another vehicle ran into and t-bone her the right side. And the dual airbags didn't deploy please provide additional information dealer is aware of the problem. Ts.

At 55mph consumer lost control of vehicle, went into a ditch, and vehicle rolled over. Upon impact, none of the airbags deployed. Please provide any further information.

While driving at 40 mph consumer ran into an animal head-on and none of the front air bags deployed. Vehicle was totaled. Contacted dealer, and dealer was not willing to do anything.

Consumer's vehicle was struck on driver's door and forced into a unity pole. Upon impact, neither air bag deployed. Dealer was notified. Driver sustained minor injuries.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision of 25-30 mph, and neither air bag deployed. Dealer and manufacturer were not notified at this time. Police report attached. There was one injury.

Consumer was traveling about 35mph on main streetand another vehicle veered into him. Consumer bounced off the vehicle and ran into a pole. Airbags didn't deploy.

The car impacted head on with a telephone pole and the air bags never went off, with this type of impact I believe they should of both gone off.

Neither air bag deployed with a 45 mile/hour frontal crash.

Vehicle was parked, started vehicle to move it about 5 feet, put vehicle in gear then vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed, driver advoided truck on his left vehicle hit the sides of three trees on right, driver advioded head on with a parked car by turning left hard, entering a driveway hitting a gate, fence and fencepost, then hitting another fence and fencepost stopping at a garage wall. This all happened in a matter of about 5 seconds, vehicle accelerated at full throttle and no air bag deployment at impact.

Hit guard rail head on at 65mph, airbags didn't deploy, rolled truck 2-3 times. Second new Dodge auto that airbags didn't deploy in accident.

Consumer heard a noise coming from steering that got louder with time. Dealer stated clock spring assembly needed to be replaced. There is a recall, but this vehicle is not affected.

While driving 55 mph rearended another vehicle, and neither airbag deployed. Consumer suffered facial injuries. Damage to vehicle was $ 9000. 00.

I t-boned straight into a car doing 40 mph and neither front airbag deployed. Dodge did a follow up report why they did not deploy (case #07392245). They indicated that we did not have the right angle for them to deploy. The Dodge dealer indicated that they should have deployed at 20 mph with any front end accident.

Consumer was a traveling about 25mph on a dirt road and vehicle hit some graval pebbles, and started to slide. Then, it veered into a tree. Upon impact, dual airbags didn't deploy.

Consumer was traveling 40-50mph & rearended another vehicle. Upon impact, airbags didin't deploy, and front seatbelts didn't lock, but the rear seatbelts did. Dealer sent an investigator, but nohting was found wrong with vehicle.

I've contacted Dodge a number of times, they decline responsability for airbags and refuse comment on brake pedal failure. This is also the fourth time I've attempted to contact NHTSA and would like a reply.

I reported this last year when it happened but I was never contacted. Dodge put me in touch with mike martell who is the daimler-chrystler liason for safety. I have reason to beleive that they deleted my information about the way the brake pedal broke off before impact. Every time I called it had disappeared from their information. I also received word from the investigator they sent out to look at the airbags that the airbags were in fact deffective. Dodge took the original report and denied it. Those vehicles are unsafe and Dodge should be held responsible. My wife and I have spent over $20,000. 00 in medical bills as a result and Dodge refused any help.

No deployment of airbag during a head on collision which caused injuries to consumers spine, arms, neck and hip from hitting the steering wheel. Nlm.

Was in car accident. The shoulder belts on passenger's side and driver's side didn't lock and neither deploy on highway 35mph. Car facing west about 1 car length from other vehicles. Vehicle pulled out in front, and hit them on the center of the driver's side.

Vehicle experienced sudden acceleration, causing vehicle to side swipe three trees and hit a large tree head on. However, no deployment of both driver and passenger air bags during collision, which resulted in minor injuries.
