Failure Date: 12/05/2020

On 12/5/2020 at about 1200 hours, I was driving northbound at about 40 mph on litchfield rd in goodyear, az in my 2014 Dodge Durango when the front passenger-side headrest deployed against the back of my wife's head for no apparent reason. I looked around and there were no vehicles within a quarter-mile of my vehicle when this occurred. On arrival home, I inspected the faulty headrest and it appeared an interior plastic retention piece was busted. I contacted my Dodge dealer, who advised a replacement was not available until may 2021. I contacted Chrysler customer care and they we're equally as useless as the dealer. I am completely annoyed, dissatisfied and a bit enraged.

57 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2015 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/01/2020

My Durango was parked at the end of the day at approximately 5:15 pm, in a covered carport, and locked. When entering the next morning at approximately 8:00 am I noticed the passenger side front seat head rest looked odd. When looking at it closer, it looks as if the headrest separated. The 2 pieces are still connected but not compressed together as it should be. I called my husband out to look at it and he tried to compress it back together but it would not stay. This happened when the vehicle was unoccupied and not moving. I can not explain what happened because no one was there. It was discovered when I entered the next time.

60 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2015 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/27/2020

The passenger headrest deployed while driving in a parking lot. The headrest deployment is supposed to be a safety feature of the car to help avoid whiplash in case of an accident but it did it on its own without an accident. This is very concerning as if one of my children were in the seat, they would have been seriously injured.

61 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2014 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/24/2020

Traveling in parking lot less than 10mph when suddenly the passenger headrest deployed with a loud bang. Fortunately there was no one sitting in the seat at the time, as it could have caused a serious injury. There was nothing the caused the headrest to deploy. After examination, the cheap plastic pieces holding the headrest in is proper place were broken. I am now greatly concern this will also happen on the drivers side and may cause an injury or accident. It was clearly a failure of a defective part. Sine than I have heard of many similar incidents. This clearly a safety issue and should have a recall from Chrysler/Dodge.

62 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2014 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/18/2020

Active head restraint activated without warning with occupant in the seat. Vehicle was in motion and being driven normally in town. Active head restraint hit occupant and caused pain. Took to dealership and was told nothing they could do other than charge me 750 dollars to repair the issue.

63 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2014 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/16/2020

Known safety issue with the active head restraint of the 2014 Dodge Durango. The head restraint is known to deploy without cause, hitting the driver in the back of the head. This just happened two days ago (8/16/2020) to the driver side head restraint of my 2014 Dodge Durango citadel with 60,000 miles. Nothing provoked the malfunction, as the vehicle was parked.

64 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/14/2020

The passengers headrest was deployed without warning. Car was in the garage when this occured. No one was injured and no accident occured. This could have caused bodily damage if passenger was in place. Dodge has informed us there is no replacement because they discontinued this part. Passenger seat no longer safe because no replace is available. Headrest shouldn't deploy on its own.

65 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2014 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/13/2020

The passenger seat headrest popped all the way out. There has been no wreck, collision, force of any kind. The car was in park at the time. It can not be closed.

Failure Date: 08/12/2020

2015 Dodge Durango. The active head restraint in the front passenger seat deployed while the vehicle was parked in a private parking lot and unoccupied. Searching the internet this seems to be a common problem. I am now concerned the passenger side is probably next.

68 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2014 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/03/2020

My car was parked in the garage. I went to work on Monday morning and noticed my head rest was hanging open. The head rest front portion popped off from the back portion and will not go back together. The garage estimate to fix this is $900!! I think this should be taken care of by Chrysler since I wasn't even driving my vehicle - it's just a faulty headrest.

69 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2015 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/31/2020

The active head restraint of the front passenger seat was deployed while the vehicle was parked overnight, due to the faulty plastic housing of the retaining pin. The pin just tore through the plastic while remaining in the latch itself. Looking through the internet I can see that this is not an isolated incident. Seems to be happening quite frequently to fca cars. Obviously there is a design flaw on the composition of the plastic used by fca for the housing, which weakens with time under the constant load of the heavy springs. Didn't seem to be able to find a recall for it though. This is a serious safety concern! I am now worried that the driver's side is next and I might actually be driving when it happens!!!.

70 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

My husband was driving and the headrest popped open as if he had an accident. He was driving on a highway in the middle of a city, stayed in one lane. There was no accident or sudden stop or anything simulating an impact. The headrest hit my daughter in the head causing a headache.
