2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/15/2019

When outside temperature goes beyond 80 degrees fahrenheit, while in motion, the computer has shut off the engine multiple times and a code saying no bus is displayed in the dash for a few seconds. It has happened to me going 70 mph. It has happened going 45 mph and as low as 20 mph. All I have to do is pull over and let the computer cool off and it turns on again. This is very dangerous as power steering shuts off and brakes become very hard. I have a great car in the winter. In the summer it's a death trap that can shut off engine, power steering and brakes in the middle of the freeway. Check youtube and google for "Dodge Durango no bus" and you will find this is a major issue with the computer.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/10/2018

This is the 3rd time in the past 3 months I've been taking this vehicle to service for different service issues. The most recent one is the dash and whipers started going crazy, a sudden smell of burnt wires/electric burn. The vehicle shut down while in motion locking the steering wheel and the gear shifter didn't want to engage. I tried starting the vehicle but it wouldn't start. The vehicle is not comunicating with the starting key. The vehicle got towed to the deelsrship and after two days they called me back saying that the vehicle is not comunicating with the tipm (totally integrated power module) therefor the can't make a diagnosis. They will have to check each wire one by one abd that check up is going to cost 4 hours of work at a cost of approximately $400 before they can run a diagnosis.

4 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/11/2018

4 times in the last two weeks while driving in heavy city traffic in the los angeles, CA area the engine turned off, without warning, warning lights, or warning sounds. All guages went to zero. There was no abnormal function of the vehicle before each incident. Power assist to steering and brakes were also lost. Each time it was in dry, sunny weather with the temperature between 60 and 80 degrees fahrenheit. Each time I was able to coast to a curb or physically push the vehicle out of traffic. Each time, except one, the engine would not start immediately afterward. The engine would turn over briskly but would not start. After 4 to 6 attempts the car would start normally and then run normally as if nothing had ever happened. Each time the gasoline tank was at least one quarter full. Two additional times in the last two months the engine shut off while driving and then almost immediately turned back on again. The transmission was completely rebuilt 5 months ago. This had the potential to cause a crash but did not in each of the instances.

6 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/11/2017

04 Durango slt 4. 7 v8. Rattling/rapping noise on start up that worsened through the day. Noise coming from right side of engine bay. Brought to mechanic and identified valve seat(s) in the aluminum head(s) have 'disintegrated' and/or 'dropped' causing the valves to slap on acceleration and multiple other catastrophic engine issues. Fca (Chrysler/Dodge) has been notified of my complaint and they're fully aware of this fatal engine flaw in their late model v8 engines yet they refuse to acknowledge or even advise owners of repair options. They must be told to go good for this situation. This occurred at 110,000 miles. My options now are: a $2000 engine repair, $4000 engine replacement - or - to 'junk' the vehicle - don't get me started about the damned rust on this thing, either. . . I feel ripped off from a few different angles here by Chrysler/Dodge and I know there are thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of fca owners out here who will never purchase another piece of shit from these thieves.

7 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/02/2016

I believe the totally integrated power module is the problem. It will not start sometimes and then will not stay running when it does. Cranks and dies, acts like starter just keeps turning over and over after hitting ignition button. We have had this problem for a few weeks and it keeps getting worse. Our vehicle year make and module fall within the time frame of a stated recall and the same issues in that recall are happening to our vehicle. It has happened in our driveway, rural and city streets. While at red lights or stalling while in motion or other stopping reasons. Please look into this, thank you matt l.

9 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/23/2015

Bought used, had car less than 12 hours and car stalled while driving thru 90 degree corner on highway. Loss of power =no power steering=accident waiting to happen. Called dealer and returned next day. They completed an outstanding recall. Problem not fixed, had car back 7 days, stalled again twice in one day. Returned to dealer, had it a week and a half and could not get to replicate, cleaned and adjusted fcw sensor. Had car back 4 days and stalled again. Back to service now for 2 weeks. Making payment on car that I haven't had very frustrating. Always occurs going thru corners. Very scary and lucky no traffic behind me since I have to put in park to restart by push button ignition. I am very disappointed with Dodge as I have read several similar complaints with no resolution. The dealer is now offering to take car back and trade for something else or refund my money (lemon law). I was in love with this car but don't know that I want to stick with Dodge after all of these issues. It seems that people have been fortunate not to get into a serious accident and I hope that Dodge figures this out before someone loses their life.

10 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

I was driving the SUV in about 30 degree weather attempting to enter the highway when I lost almost all engine power simultaneously the check engine light tripped. Luckily there were no vehicles behind me, I was able to make it to the next exit. The code tripped was : po6dd mod $00 engine oil pressure control circuit performance/stuck off. Is this safe? and do the electrical issues with the other modules have any effect on this?.

11 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/10/2014

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. While approaching a stop light, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the throttle needed to be cleaned. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The contact replaced the egr valve, the spark plugs, and the transmission fluid however the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The contact replaced the throttle body but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,900.

12 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it diagnosed that the total integrated power module needed to be replaced. The failure was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000. Jb.

13 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/30/2014

In my 2012 Dodge Durango it was determined that there is a problem with the total integrated power module which is affecting the way the engine starts and gets fuel to the fuel pump. The repair cost is $1213. 71. It is my understanding that there are hundreds of documented cases regarding this issue in the Chrysler line and nothing has been done to correct the problem. It is unfortunate that Chrysler is awaiting a tragedy to take place before they do what is right for the customer and fix the problem that has been reported. I understand that a class-action lawsuit has been filed to address this issue. I just want to go on record in the event that something detrimental happens to me or my family because of this recognized and publicly documented part failure.

14 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/16/2014

I was told the totally integrated power module (tipm) was bad and needed to be replaced. Never heard of this part until my vehicle started acting up. It would just not start even though it was trying. I thought it was just a starter going bad or something small. Nope! I learned about tipm and the nearly $1,600 it cost to replace it. In speaking with the technician I found out that it could go completely out at anytime, and if it did, my vehicle would be dead in the water no matter what I was doing. Scary thought. Especially if you're driving down the freeway. So, needless to say, we don't really have a choice when this part goes out. What's sad is that the vehicle is only a few years old and has relatively low mileage. After getting off the phone with the technician I googled tipm and found all kinds of articles and learned that Chrysler has been struggling with this part on various models for several years. Hopefully they end up doing the right thing and covering this and reimbursing those of us who have no choice and have to replace the faulty part now. To not do so is putting our lives and those around us in jeopardy.

15 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/26/2014

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Durango. While driving approximately 75 mph, the engine stalled and was unable to restart. The dealer stated that the total integrated control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

16 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2006 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

While driving down the highway, without any warning, my 2006 Dodge Durango stalled out. I still had radio and power steering, so I pulled over to the side of the road. I restarted my Durango, the check engine light was on, but was able to continue without any further issues. The same type of issue happens sporadically, regardless of weather or speed. There are times, after sitting at a light or stop sign, when you press the gas to go the gears are slow to engage and actually start moving. Sometimes the Durango shifts roughly as you accelerate or decelerate. As time has gone on the problem has become more persistent. I finally took my Durango in to our mechanic and he replaced the egr valve and the throttle position sensor. Within 2 weeks of these parts being replaced, my Durango again began stalling out. I did have the Durango stall out twice, back to back, losing all power in the vehicle, including power steering. I managed to get home and called the mechanic. This time he replaced the throttle control module. The Durango is still stalling out and sometimes very slow to engage gears when starting off from a stopped position. This problem was supposedly address in the 2004-2005 models and corrected. I am afraid to drive my Durango as it is not reliable; this is an accident waiting to happen. Clearly the problem has not been fixed.

17 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/04/2014

I have a 2011 Dodge durange that has a failing tipm (totally integrated power module) and Dodge is aware of this problem however, will continue to sell the cars without fixing so we get so spend over 1,000. 00 to fix it!.

18 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/04/2014

Just purchased my 2005 Durango 5. 7 hemi limited used at the end of 2013. Have had it for less than 6 months. After having it for a month the check engine light came on. The next day my Durango stalled while I was driving at around 40-45 miles an hour in downtown san diego!! I put it in neutral and it started right back up. I thought it was just bad gas because the check engine light went off. But in the last few weeks it has done the same thing about 10 times. My friend hooked it up to his code reader and it said my egr valve needs replaced. But now I'm seeing all of these complaints on here about the same issues and I'm quite worried. I am also having a problem with the fuel tank. I can't fill up my tank or the gasoline shoots out everywhere!! I noticed there is no metal piece that closes off when you pull the nozzle out. Also my in dash navigational system/cd player/radio quit working. Screen on in dash console is just lines. Now my blue tooth in the rear view mirror only works intermittently. Have to close the rear hatch twice for cargo light warning on dash to go out. Charger port in front panel stopped working on the second day I owned it. Seems as if there are some major electrical issues here!! I owned a Dodge dakota years ago and never had any problems with it!! I'm really surprised at the fact that Dodge is not taking care of these issues. I will be contacting a dealer for the recall issues and will let you know how that goes, especially since I've read more than one complaint on here that the dealerships aren't honoring the recalls. Ridiculous!!.

19 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/02/2013

Incident date start: 11/02/2013. The vehicle would not start. The engine would turn over but there was either no fuel or ignition spark. Continued to try to start the vehicle but refused to start. After about 6 to 8 minutes of trying it started. The vehicle started every time after that but the next morning it refused to start. Again after 6 to 8 minutes of trying, it started and started each time for the rest of the day. This repeated itself each day. The dealer diagnosed it as the "totally integrated control module" failed.

20 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/31/2013

My 2005 Dodge Durango 5. 7 hemi has had a vast amount of stalling. I was going to pick my son up and the throttle light and the engine light came on. The throttle light was blinking. I would just be driving and it would die. This is a serious matter and if Dodge is not made accountable someone could be hurt. I had my Durango towed to a Dodge dealer and was told it was the egr valve. So I had that replaced along with new spark plugs and wires. It was fine for a week then it did the exact same thing on a very busy road. It would start then die. So I had it towed a second time to the Dodge dealer. This time I was told it had pulled 12 codes but they were not active but just stored codes. The dealer could not diagnose my Durango. I was told they also checked the wiring and could not find anything. So I paid for the diagnostic and was told it never acted up on the mechanic. So again a week later it did the same thing and so we replaced the electronic throttle control. It ran ok for a week and now it is doing the exact same thing. It stalled on the interstate and my husband was nearly hit. Can someone please look into this with Dodge before someone gets hurt. The dealer cannot find what is wrong with my truck . Please someone help figure this out I saw all of the complaints on line for this exact same problem. And also with mine this happened on more than one occasion.

21 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/20/2013

I have a 2011 Dodge Durango that has been in the dealership's shop since sept 20th. The fuel pumps failed because of a known issue with the totally integrated power module. This item has been on backorder and if that's not enough. . . Dealerships nationwide are restricted to ordering one module per week. I believe this item should be on recall because apparently others are waiting for this part. . . Some over a period of months. I need my vehicle. I've been in touch with customer service/corporate who has been giving me the run around and even promising me a rental car. . . But not making good on their promise. I'm to the point where I'm calling them daily and getting the same response. I've been assigned a case manager. . . But the case manager never called me. Dodge doesn't have the courtesy of calling me back to let me know what's going on. What kind of business is that? tomorrow I will have been without my vehicle for two weeks without any other means of transportation. I wasn't given an estimate on when the part would be in or a rental car. This really sucks! I have young kids and pray that there isn't an emergency where I need to jump in my vehicle and go because I won't be able to.

22 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/18/2013

The vehicle will not start, it cranks for a long time, then needs to be restarted 5 times plus before it starts, occasionally stalling out, before finally starting. This has been going on since 9/18/13. At times it leaves something running in the back of the vehicle by the fuel pump, even when the vehicle is turned off. Brought to the dealer on 9/23/13 and they found the problem to be the tipm (totally integrated power module), which is on a restricted backorder with no eta. We were told to pick up the vehicle and bring it back when the part comes in. My wife is 9 months pregnant and this is our family vehicle, which is unreliable. To make it worse the vehicle stalled going through an intersection the other day, when I was driving with my 1 year old in the backseat, and we were almost hit, luckily there was an angel looking over us, and the other vehicle stopped just in time. I have tried to reach out to Dodge customer service about this, and they are not willing to pay for a loaner/rental and they can give no eta on the part, as there is a couple thousand on backorder. My family and Dodge got lucky in this situation, but something needs to be done before this occurs again to someone else, and someone is injured or killed.

23 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/21/2013

2005 Dodge Durango 5. 7 hemi stalls upon acceleration. During acceleration in the forward direction the vehicle will lose all electrical function and shut down the engine causing the motorist to be stranded in the middle of an intersection or other dangerous section of roadway. Loss of electrical function can be attributed to the close proximity of the positive battery cable to the egr pipe on the right side of the engine. During acceleration the engine will torque over causing the egr pipe to make contact with the battery cable thus causing the plastic sheathing to become chafed. Over time this chafing will wear through the plastic sheathing and expose the bare copper wire allowing it to come in contact with the metal egr pipe. The contact of the copper wire from the positive battery cable to the metal egr pipe creates a direct short which in turn shuts down the electrical system and any engine control functions. In some instances this short can cause the battery cable to heat up enough to catch the plastic insulation on fire and possibly lead to battery explosion.

24 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/16/2013

I am also adding to the rapidly growing number of complaints with the same issue that my 2004 Dodge Durango slt 5. 7 hemi has with the blown engine. As majority on this site have expressed, my Durango was well taken care of with maintenance performed at regular intervals. I bought my Durango used in 2007 with 1 owner prior to myself. I have experienced the recall for the electrical panel, along with the egr valve 2 years back and engine stalling in the rain. The first time my engine idled poorly while in the rain was around 2008. As many others have stated in their formal complaints, I drove home from work with no problem. As I returned to my truck 15min later I went to start the ignition and the engine knocked and shut down. I attempted to start the ignition again, and once again the engine knocked, shaked and had shut down once more. After the 3rd time starting the ignition, I got no response just a click. I let my truck sit for a day and had it towed to a private mechanic. After checking my fuel pump, started, battery, and alternator, my mechanic figured the root of my problem had been my engine had blown. Afterwards, I researched the issue with engines in this particular models durange. After doing extensive research and viewing this website, to my surprise I found I wasn't the only owner of this model & year truck having this very same issue. What makes this more surprising is the growing number of complaints about this very issue and nothing is being done. As a single parent of 2 children I rely heavily on my vehicle, that it why I take all necessary steps to ensure my vehicle remains in good running condition. This incident has caused me alot of emotional and financial strain. And I would hope that very soon the company would recognize that this is a major problem that needs to be rectified.

25 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 05/11/2013

Purchased brand new. First incident in may we used the key fob to start the vehicle and the vehicle ran for 5 minutes then shut down. The engine completely shut down and we were not able to start the vehicle using the manual key or key fob-vehicle having it towed. Unknown cause! in June, the vehicle was started with the key fob and placed my twin 3 yr olds in the car. The key fob was placed on the passenger seat in the vehicle. All doors were shut when I was walked to the passenger side when suddenly the doors locked and the vehicle shut off after 10 minutes, 122 degrees outside. There was no reason for the doors to all lock. Massive malfunction. I had to call the 911 and have the fire department rescue my children out of the vehicle! incident unknown next, for the last 2 months we are having issues getting the car to start with the push button, key fob and manual start. We replaced the battery. No fix. Dealership determine there is not a fix as of this point and handed us the keys and told us we would have to wait until there is a fix. They stated they will call when they determined why so many vehicles have this same issue. Electrical problem? after, still problems for 2m the push start and key fob start has gotten worse. It takes 8-15 tries to get the vehicle started! problem unresolved! next this past week having same starting issues, the cars has a "fan sound" after the vehicle is turned off. It runs down the battery and battery dies every day. Now, its back into the dealership again! the car does not start for them to evan look at it! end result! they think its an electrical issue, they think they might be able to fix the starting issue after the "part" comes in and could take months, knowing 1500 plus other vehicles need this same "part" they now, offered us a rental car that doesn't fit our family of 5! problem will never be resolved!.

26 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 05/03/2013

It started with what I thought was just an egr problem about two years ago, and I replaced it. It kept dying, especially when it was raining pretty good, and I thought something was getting wet. I thought it was the starter or battery, and replaced the battery. A few days before the last incident, it didn't want to start again, so I thought I guessed wrong and was going to replace the starter. May 3, 2013, on the way to work, it started running real rough, and the check engine light started flashing. It was raining very hard. I pulled over, and smelled burned oil, and then saw a multicolored sheen on the wet, rainy pavement. The engine died before I got the hood up. I can start it, but it sounds like someone is inside with a hammer. The guy that towed it said it threw a rod out the driver side of the engine, by the motor mount. It starts, but sounds like someone is inside the engine with a hammer. From what it sounds, the rod broke, and went through the side of the engine. With almost 700 complaints, something should be able to be done. I owe almost $8000 on this car, and it will cost at least half of that to fix it. It isn't worth anything the way it is, and it costs more to fix it than it is probably worth. A simple internet search brings up all of these same symptoms for this 5. 7l hemi engine, without even mentioning the issues. There are that many problems with it. It isn't a safety issue when you lose all power steering, brakes, and pour out oil at highway speeds in the rain? please do something. Thank you.

27 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/19/2013

Vehicle stalls at low speeds and deceleration, idling hard at a stop and while in park, will stall when idling hard, gas spills out of inlet when filling up completely, sluggish in temperatures below 30 degrees and above 80 degrees, requires more than normal maintenance, service tech's can never diagnose the causes of stalling or idling issues, think it might concern the throttle body, transmission has torqued itself out before, stripped screws, rebuilt at 90000 miles. Just waiting for it to go again. This vehicle has been nothing but issues ever since I bought it used. Every fix just feels like a band aid to the manufacturing problems it has.

28 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/04/2013

I'm contacting you in regards to my 2005 Dodge Durango. I have encountered it stalling making turns, driving down the street and at lights. I have researched the issue after having a tune up on the vehicle with no success. After researching, I have found that thousands of people are having the same exact issue. I have printed off from several sites the complaints identical to mine. This is definitely a recall for this vehicle and should be replaced by Chrysler/Dodge. I have found that a lot of people are finding that the issue is the egr system. The same thing with the air bag issue that I'm receiving, I'll be driving down the road and get an alert that the passenger air bag was turned off when someone is in the seat. There is two recalls in place now for air bag issues. I really hope that you will investigate this and reach out to Chrysler to get this resolved for consumers.

29 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/30/2012

The totally integrated modular engine (time) has had many problems since the purchase of the 2012 Dodge Durango. The SUV has stopped dead while in drive on interstate 95. The panel lights has all come on all at once while driving. The engine has stalled and would not restart several times late at night. The exterior lights has gone off completely at night without panel light notification. The fog lights will not work at all times. The radio at times will not pay. The push start button will not always start the vehicle. The engine permits a foul order at times. The engine has gone from automatic to manuel drive without placement in manuel. The brake pedal will not come back after being pushed to the floor. The mother board has had to be replaced. The entire electrical system has shut down - vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. I have been given a rental car 4 times for an approximate total of 30 days to try to rectify the problems. I have 4 recalls for various issues and none have been fixed due to parts are not readily available. Recall id's - April 2014 service brakes and brakes hydraulic anti-lock #102663, #102664, #102298 and July 2014 105085 - electrical system wiring. There are several class action lawsuits against the Chrysler group, llc for the 2012 Dodge Durango. I no longer feel safe in this vehicle, I can possibly cause an accident or someone can hit me with all the problems and potentially hurt myself or others with all the recalls and engine problems.

30 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/26/2012

2004 Dodge Durango limited 5. 7l hemi 4x4 my vehicle was already running for approx 3-5 minutes, warming up, after I had finished working a full 12-hour night shift. Time is 0640 hrs, outside temp is approx 30 degrees. Vehicle running normal, no alarms, no warning indicators. I was pulling out of driveway of my employment onto the roadway and accelerating on a completely straight roadway. As vehicle was passing 20-25mph and with no fore-warning, heard loud 'bang' from the engine compartment and vehicle started shaking. Vehicle's reaction was immediate. Violent vibrations, tappings and metal to metal sounds, I immediately shut down the engine and drifted off to side of road. My vehicle has never been pushed or worked hard. Never hauled heavy loads or trailored. Body is in very good condition and vehicle maintenance has always been performed on regular basis (approx 1000 miles into current oil change). At first I thought I had thrown the serpentine belt, but within seconds I knew it was much worse, shutting off the engine. Two checks of the oil level, assured me that there was in fact oil in the engine. There were no external leaks found and there did not appear to be any oil/coolant mixing. After towing the vehicle, to my mechanic, they have since reported what they believe to be as a "catastrophic loss of the engine". I have reported this failure to Chrysler corp. And they have opened a case number for me, but they have not made any commitment, if they will cover the failure. After some of my own investigating, I have discovered there are numerous complaints, of the exact same nature as my failure, with this identical make/model year and 5. 7l hemi engine, with many failures occurring in the 80-120k mile range (my mileage 97k). Very angry and upset about this failure, but thankful I was able to safely pull over without any further incident and injury.

31 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/06/2012

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the cam shaft sensor and the egr valve needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 133,000.

32 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 05/10/2012

First incident happened at a low speed coming into a turn. I did some research online and found that most Durango owners had luck with fuel system cleaning and/or egr valve replacements. I did both, and the vehicle ran fine up until today (2 months later). There were previous "investigations" for recall services a few years back, but they were closed out. I hope Dodge decides to open an investigation again. . I do not want to be paying $200 every 2 months for fuel cleaning services. This is ridiculous.

33 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/06/2012

Vehicle shuts down without warning also losing power steering, brakes etc. May or may not start after 15 minutes or so. Have had grandkids with me on 2 separate occasions, one being sitting in 90 degree heat for over an hour and vehicle wouldnt start, waiting on tow. Another time vehicle shut down and had to jump lanes and coast to get to side road to stop. Very, very dangerous situations many times! havent drove it since. Sitting in driveway around 3 months. Abs has also gone out.

34 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

While driving my vehicle, coming to a stop, or turning left at slow speeds 0-5 mph my engine stall without warning. No lights light up on the dash to indicate a problem. I have also noticed that rpms fluctuate (increase/decrease) while my foot is off the gas pedal. This is a daily occurrence. I first thought that I had bad fuel and put an fuel additive in the tank to hopefully resolve the problem. When the problem continued, I replaced the air filter, but the problem continued. I am now going to replace the egr, but I have seen that others have done so without any success in resolving the problem. Based on the notices placed here and at various other web-sites for several years running, it appears that Dodge does not have any procedures in place to resolve this problem. This is a health and safety issue that needs to be addressed. I purchased this vehicle for the purpose of transporting my grand kids, and lacrosse players to and from various events. If Dodge does not resolve this problem, and I or someone I am transporting is injured or killed in a accident based on the above mentioned vehicle malfunction, Dodge will be held accountable.

35 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

I have seen lots of complaints about this same issue online as well as 2 open and closed investigations on this website! while driving my 2005 Dodge Durango it will shut off on its own, steering is imposible at this point. It use to happen a lot to me. Normally it would always happen pulling in or backing out of my driveway. But I live in rural wv and we have mountains and curvy roads. Once I was driving about 30-35 mph and I was on a curvy road and it stalled out on me and I about went over the mountain as I could not steer! we had the vehicle checked over and there was no warning our check engine light on. Ultimately have the mechanic played the guessing game, he replaced the egr valve and that had fixed the problem. Just resently it is beginning to happen again. This investigation needs to be reopened! manufacturer should be responsible. My Durango has 3 very common issues with lots of other folks that should be recalled: 1. The stalling of the vehichle for no apparent reason. 2. The fuel leaking out as you are filling it was gas! they say my car is not part of the recall and will not pay to fix it. 3. 4 lock kicks in on its own as you are driving. This is very dangerous! they need to invesitgate and solve the problem and recall. I love my Durango and I have had it for 6 years as I bought it used and I am the second owner. I would love for Dodge to make this right. As I do not want to get another vehicle.
