1 Gasoline Engine problem of the 2003 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/18/2006

My daughter was driving my Dodge Durango when power was lost. She was barely able to get it to the side of the road. She called me very upset as she had just started driving only about one year before this happened. I had her sit with the truck and try to start it again. She was able to get it started and moved about 20 feet to a more secure area along the road. She was on a very busy road, a1a in indialantic, florida. Needless to say she was very upset and afraid. My youngest daughter was with her at the time and she was very upset as well. Both could have been injured when the truck lost power.

3 Gasoline Engine problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/17/2005

The vehicle is 1999 Dodge Durango. The consumer needed the tires replaced and he had an independent mechanic check the ball joints at the same time. The mechanic told him that the front top and bottom ball joints were going bad, this was in 12-2004. The consumer knew there was a recall on similar vehicles. He contacted the manufacturer and they told him that his vehicle was not included in the recall. The consumer had to get the engine replaced because of a sludge problem. The engine blew up because of the oil pressure had failed on the vehicle, on 7-17-05. About 3-4 months prior the consumer had the oil and oil filter changed; and the bearings replaced. On 7-19-05 the engine was replaced. He had them check the ball joints again on 7-20-05. They told him that they would be afraid for him to drive it off the lot. Consumer feels that the manufacture should replace this at their expense.

I am leasing a 2004 Dodge Durango equipped with a 5. 7 liter hemi engine that stales during regular driving applications. I have had the vehicle in to the dealer several times with no action taken. I have called the Chrysler hotline twice with my concerns about the obvious safety issues related to these failures. My 9 month pregnant wife drives this vehicle on a daily basis and she transports my other two children to school. It is just a matter of time before this vehicle is going to stale in a dangerous situation and someone is going to get killed or seriously injured. VIN# 1d4hd48dx4f150130 thank you, jason miller.

25 Gasoline Engine problem of the 2000 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/15/2001

Engine has had a miss in it since we purchased the car. We have took it back to the dealer 3 times complaining, with the first one was before it had 2000 miles on the car. The dealership told us the first time that it would/did not show up on the computer until it had over 2000 miles on the car. So drive it until then, and if it still did it bring it back in. We brought it back in at 3,803 miles,7,596 miles and then at 18,275. At 7,596 miles they reprogrammed the car and told us to use unleaded plus gas instead of regular. It did no good to change the grade of gas. Then we brought it back in at 18,275 miles with 4 different problems and they changed the fan clutch. The car still missed after this. The dealership told us at this time that they had 3 other cars with the same problem and that Chrysler does not know what the problem is and can not fix it. As far as the clock spring, they were going to replace it, but Chrysler told them instead to change out the steering column instead.

I was able to come to a safe stop and put vehicle into park to re-start. This vehicle will be going to the dealership 1st thing Monday morning for a check. I am advising you because if traffic conditions were different or I was on a freeway driving this could have caused a serious accident. I don't have alot of confidence in dealerships.
