36 Headlights problem of the 2001 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/02/2010

2001 Durango had headlight and windshield wiper failure at night in the rain at 60 miles an hour. The central timing module went out. We couldn't see to drive and oncoming drivers couldn't see us. Its was like being blindfolded. You cant navigate the highway without having the ability to see. The NHTSA was notified, and they told me that unless an investigator finds a trend, they cant issue a recall. Upon looking at their website I have found over 100 complaints for this. . . Which to me is a trend. I guess someone has to die before this will be taken seriously. I called the Dodge corp. Office and they are aware of the issue but until the NHTSA makes them recall, they wont. Shame on Dodge and the NHTSA for not fixing the defect. This is not an inconvenience defect, this is a safety defect. If you have problems with your lights, wipers, electrical system please post complaint so that the NHTSA will finally see a trend. This potentially fatal defect must be recognized! please involve your local media if you get no response with the NHTSA. The time for bailouts to the car company's' is over if they aren't required to manufacture a safe product! the NHTSA said they receive over 500 complaints a day. With that many complaints could they be missing this defect trend? it is time to check into the electrical, transmission, and seat belt issues that Dodge is having. The NHTSA should be doing all they can to avoid innocent deaths from the neglect of greedy car manufacturers. Driving without windshield wipers or headlights=death!.

37 Headlights problem of the 2000 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/01/2008

For 2000 Dodge Durango slt plus. Wire for headlight dimmer in steering console is too short which leads to the wire pulling out of the connector in the console. After the wire pulls out the headlights no longer operate. To correct the failure the wire must be spliced and increased in length by approximately 1/4 inch.

42 Headlights problem of the 2002 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/12/2002

This is a complaint in general about the blinding headlights being put on vehicles now days. Can't something be done to regulate the brightness of the headlights placed in cars. Also, drivers who drive with their driving lights on when not needed really cause problems. Can't it be regulated that driving lights automatically shut off when approaching another vehicle. Headlights nowdays are just too bright. I have almost been in several accidents due to being blinded by the bright headlights.

When driving with low-beams (headlights on), I switch to hi-beam. The lights went off!! I tapped the brake pedal and the lights (hi-beams) came on. This happens about once out of every ten times I hit the high beams. Very dangerous. I will be taking to the dealership in fredericksburg (safford Dodge) within a week or so to have repaired.
