3 Steering Is Loose problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/18/2006

I own a 1999 Durango and a 2001 dakota both have loose intermediate shafts. The steering is very loose in both trucks. I spoke with many owners of these types of trucks and all have the same problem may cause a serious accident when someone looses steering going 55 mph I think we should make this problem known before somebody gets in an accident and gets someone killed.

4 Steering Is Loose problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/01/2003

While driving steering wheel was loose. Upon inspection of the vehicle mechanic determined that the passenger's side upper ball joint was loose, and the tire could fall off at anytime. Also, mechanic indicated that both the upper and lower ball joints needed to be replaced, but the parts were on a nation wide back order. After parts were replaced, consumer again experienced steering becoming loose. Also, repair was made on transmission pan gasket due to a bolt stripped out of the pan.
