The rear deck lid tail lights fill with water eventually shorting out the lights and impacting the ability for other drivers to see the vehicle from the rear. Over time this may lead to other electrical problems as it is never good to have water accumulating in the tail lights. The backup camera is also shared in this component. This appears to be a known issue that fca Dodge appears to be ignoring. The only solution offered is to replace the component with another which includes the backup camera for $1000.

The rear tail light has got water in the rear deck led lights. Sometimes call the racetrack lights, and caused the led to burn out not he bottom side of the passenger side light. Many have complained about this. Dodge wants $1000 to repair. This is the second one that it has done it to. Dodge replaced the first one under warranty at this 22,000.

Water in the tail light ( track light/ led). Just replaced 8 months ago by dealership. On drivers side lower led has a cup of water from the rain. This is the second time. First time, turned dark and light went out after buying 2 months later. 3/15/19.
The liftgate tail light assembly allows water to seep inside, pooling in the lighting assembly. This led to the rear lights shorting out and failing completely. After researching, this is a common problem that Dodge continues to ignore; only offering to install a new assembly for the bargain price of $1200-1600 so that I will be visible from the rear to other drivers on the roadway.
Exterior tail light's interior gets flooded with water every time it rains. There is nothing abnormal about my vehicle, this is the second Dodge Durango I have owned (2015+) with the same exact issue.
The led back tail lights are not properly sealed, so water can leak into them and short out the lights, and cause electrical shortage. Have tried to work with the dealership, and the Chrysler corp. , but since the vehicle is a 2015 model it is out of warranty. I feel this was a bad seal right out of the factory.
Center tailgate (race track) tail light gets water in it every time it rains or snow melts regardless if stationary or driving. This is the 3rd time it has happened and the light is now shorted out (visibly burnt) and the vehicle smells like burnt plastic. Replaced June 2016, Dec 2017 and now needs to be replaced Dec 2019.
When it rains water is collecting in the back tailgate light. There needs to be a recall to fix this problem. Apparently, I am not the only one having this problem.
Noted reoccurring problem with liftgate tail light. Liftgate taillight will all eat water into the light itself and therefore burned out. Problem occurs on both sides as well. Picture only shows one side.
I have had issues with the rear lighting on my 2014 Dodge Durango limited allowing water to leak inside of the lights. The rear racetrack tail light has gotten water inside of it causing some of the led lights to stop working. One of the license plate lights has also gotten water inside of it which has caused it to stop working. From some research this looks to be an ongoing issue that customers are having with 2014 and newer Dodge Durango vehicles. This is a safety concern that may cause even further damage to the vehicle's electrical system and lights that are needed for safety reasons.
When it rains, water collects inside the racetrack tail lights of my 2014 Durango. The problem exist on the rear of the part. The sponge-like gasket is disintegrating. I got it replaced at the dealer for 1,000 $ about 4 months ago, I got water again in the new ones. The led's are not working anymore when I turn on the lights on.
Driving at night, car passes me and aggressively honked/pointed behind me. Pulled over and noticed my rear lights were completely out. Messed with the light switch to see if it made a difference, it did not. Next day I see water pooled on both sides of the tailgate lighting assembly. Did research and learned to remove bolts to drain water from the assembly. Some functionality returned but right lower side remains out.
Water seeps into the tail light assembly. Must be drained or lights will short out and also loss of led illumination.
Rear lift gate tail light. Water enters the lighting assembly which causes the led light to stop working.

The tailgate lighting is taking in water, because it has filled with water my led lights have gone out on the bottom right portion of the strip. 2014 Dodge Durango tail light assembly not properly sealed when manufactured and allows water to enter and ruin circuit board for led tail lights. I have electrical engineering degree and this is not a bulb burned out. The leds circuit board is what's damaged not the leds. Dealers say warranty does not cover bulbs. But this is a whole tail light assembly that was not sealed right from the factory. It cost $1100 to replace . This is a defect not normal wear and tear. There are literally thousands of people online with same issue.
