The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Durango. The vehicle has goodyear wrangler rtf, size p26570r16 tires. During a routine inspection, the contact noticed that the air pressure was extremely low at 32 psi. While traveling on I-75 south and just before the 333. 3 mile marker, a loud droning noise was heard. It almost sounded like a very loud muscle car nearby. The noise continued for a couple of minutes, then a sudden louder noise (almost like an explosion) was heard at the same time as a recurrent thump and banging. The SUV lurched and after managing to get to the emergency lane through moderate traffic, we discovered the left rear steel belted radial had separated completely from itself into shreds and completely from the rim. In doing so, the radial had exploded outward against the mud flap, tearing it off and against the left side of the car to include the passenger and driver door panels. This contact with the door panels left rubber embedded in the paint and also removed paint on some areas. A tow truck was called through our insurance company and the tire was changed. The failed tire remains in our possession, should anyone wish to inspect it. The tire is manufactured by bf goodrich and is a liberator radial medalist p23575r15 108-s m+s. It had less than 5000 miles on it. It was sold to us and installed on our SUV in April 2006 at the walmart super store tire center on 19th Ave rd in ocala, FL. We traded michelins in for these tires. Thank god it was the rear tire that failed and not a front tire that would have almost certainly caused a fatal accident at 70+ mph. We are very thankful we were not physically injured; however, we have three more of these tires still remaining on our SUV.

We were driving approx. 70mph on interstate 20 in georgia near greensboro exit. The tread separated from our left rear tire and sent us out of control on the interstate highway. This was at 5:30 p. M. On Friday August 19, 2005 in busy traffic. We were headed across the median when my husband jerked the wheel to the right and we hit the guard rail on the right side of the highway. We bounced back into traffic and he swerved again to the right and we hit the guard rail again and came to a stop. This is the most horrific experience of our lives. My 11 year old has whiplash and bad headaches. I have knee problems and all of us have emotional trauma issues. Please look into this very closely. I noticed other complaints here in this website. They are p245/75r16 long trail ta.

I noticed that my right tire was loosing it was tread. I thought that I could just take it in for a wheel allignment, but the shop said that it was a worn out upper ball joint. It is going to cost me around $800. 00 to fix it. I am over on my warranty by 1000 miles and when I call daimlerchrysler they said that there was a pending investigation on this matter, but do not offer any inforamtaion. I then noticed on the internet where others are having the same problems. I think that since there are so many complaints and so many of us owners of the Dodge Durango there should be a recall into this matter. Ball joint problems should not be a problem until 100,000 miles at least.

While driving 55 mph on the highway a loud noise was coming from the left rear tire due to tread separation. Consumer was able to pull over to the shoulder. Firestone, steel tex, lt265/75r16, dot vnw81xy1402.
I had a goodyear wranglet tire failure at highway speed. Without notice the tread separated from the sidewall causing an out of control condition. Luckily, I was able to get the 2002 Dodge Durango stopped safely. I was shocked to see the tread totally separate from the sidewall (3 total pcs 1 ea sidewalls and 1 tread). I went to goodyear they said I picked up a nail or something causing a flat. I'm sorry but I have had flats in the past. When you pick up something and get a flat you loose air pressure and are able to slow down and fix tire, not explode. I filed a complaint with the ohio atty. General who passed it to the better business bureau. They said they are just a middle man without power to resolve. At this point I want to file a complaint against goodyear tire. I would like 4 different tires I would also be willing to pay for used portion of tires ( just what is used not 75% goodyear std). When the tire exploded it also caused some minor damage I would like fixed. I do have the tire in my possession and I am able to supply anything you might need. I. E. Tire, pictures.
