Valve stem on wheel corroded and threaded portion broke off when removing protective cap. Inner spring-valve then came out and entire tire deflated. 1 of the other 3 also looks corroded.

2 Tire Valve problem of the 2007 Dodge Durango

2007 Dodge Durango (approx 42k) equipped with tpms tire pressure monitoring system. All 4 valve stems, metal is corroded. One valve stem broken off at the threads when filling tire with air. Dealer says they know of issues with corroding on valve stems with tpms but is not covered under warranty or recall. I consider this a safety issue. I cannot put air in one tire. This could also be leaking and will cause tire to be flat or blow out. Replacement of tpms unit in order to fix all 4 or go to normal valve stems with no tpms.

3 Tire Valve problem of the 2007 Dodge Durango

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Durango. The contact stated the tire pressure warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The front and rear passenger side valve stems were replaced on the vehicle previously and would need to be replaced again to correct the failure. The dealer confirmed there were issues with the valve stems however, would not be covered under warranty. The failure mileage was 57,000 and the current mileage was 58,342.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Durango with mopar valve stems, serial number: 881f6d3c part number: 1-560294658b. The tire mechanic was repairing the flat tire which resulted from a defective valve stem. He stated that there is a sensor inside the wheel with an aluminum valve stem which deteriorated. He also stated that the core is made out of the incorrect type of metal. Each valve stem cost $52. 00 per tire. There was no recall on the valve stem. The mileage was not available. Updated 01/09/09.
