36 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/12/2019

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Durango. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle began to lose power and the service power steering, service electric stability, and control service air bag warning indicators illuminated. The contact veered to the shoulder of the road and the vehicle shut off. The contact was able to place the gear in park, but it did not resume normal operation. The vehicle was towed to moss motor company (1000 s cedar Ave, south pittsburg, TN 37380, (423) 837-7114), but they were unable to duplicate the failure and were still working on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 71570701. The contact mentioned that the stability control system was updated approximately a year ago at the same dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

37 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/04/2019

Since my car has had 74,000 miles I have taken it in for "abrupt shutdowns". My car has been in the dealership more than 1/2 a dozen times for the same issue and they have not been able to make my car safe for me to drive. Car is always in motion and completely shuts down whether it be on the street, highway (literally had to put in park and restart the vehicle during traffic on the freeway) or turning a corner, it completely shuts down and "fsw" flashes. All power is turned off and literally have to drive off to the side (if I am able to), of I just shut down in the middle of my route, put in park and continue on my drive. I have multiple photos that I have taken of my dashboard, showing this "fsw" (showing mileage). Last time this happened was December 2019.

38 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/30/2019

I bought this vehicle in sept 2019 drove off the lot with it brand new and the headlights and whole dash lights went out when I hit a bump. For the next two years, the car kept having electrical problems when it rained or the vehicle was washed but the virginia dealership could never duplicate the problem. I moved to indiana where these problems continued. Finally, an indianapolis dealer discovered my antenna gasket was bad and water had been leaking in from it running to the dash causing all the electrical issues. This was found in 2021. Dodge has recently bought my vehicle back as a lemon but in the paperwork only said it had radio problems. This is not true. It had much more and I'm guessing all the vehicles made with mine may also have a bad/faulty antenna gasket I doubt Dodge did a recall on.

39 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/29/2019

On may 7, 2021, I was informed by champion Dodge in indianapolis, indiana that a water intrusion point was discovered on my new Dodge Durango. The service department determined that the antenna had a faulty antenna gasket causing water to get into the vehicle through the antenna since I purchased it in September 2019. To date, my vehicle has been in the shop for about 70 days, always returned to me as "unable to duplicate" after the vehicle accelerating by itself, the led panel malfunctioning repeatedly, the highlights coming on by themselves, and the instrument panel going out multiple times and the backup camera not engaging just to name a few problems I've had. All this Dodge dealer did with this major discovery was to replace the antenna and return the vehicle to me as safe. I feel this situation is not safe as water has been getting into the electrical car components of my vehicle since 2019, and this cannot be a safe situation but doge refuses to buy back this vehicle as a lemon or even with this new information they still refuse. My Dodge has experienced electrical problems from day one of my purchase of this vehicle. I have had ongoing safety issues with this vehicle all to do with electrical problems. I think this is a very unsafe situation for this vehicle to be on the road.

40 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/07/2019

I purchased my 2012 Dodge Durango two years ago and it has been one of the most stressful issues I have ever hadz. Two days after purchasing it all the lights lit up my dash board the head lights wouldn’t go on the heater or air wouldn’t work and my windows in front would not roll down. This usually happens when I start it in the morning but it also will happen when I’m driving I almost got into a accident on the hwy at 530 in the morning coming to work when my head light just shut off. It has been back to the deal shop I bought it 3 Dodge dealer ships and my personal mechanic and they can not find out what the issue is. Over the past two years it has been in the shop bout 10-15 times it has been parked more than I have been able to drive it. I am in a loan I can not get out of.

42 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/17/2019

I got the car with 100 miles on it and these problems continue. . . . Kroger's and many other gas station pumps kick off while fueling. I have tried pulling the nozzle out some, squeezing the trigger less, etc & they still kick the pump off. It literally takes 10 mins to pump $20 worth of gas. Also, I have a slight delay when pressing the gas pedal from a stop sign, etc. Its like a second delay then its like it decides to go ahead & go. Radio/control screen has already been replaced due to it going to a full black screen & full blue screen, shutting off, etc. However, even the new radio still loses the programmed station settings.

45 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/16/2019

While driving my car is continuously shutting off. I lose power steering and need to put the vehicle in park and restart it. The first time I was coasting at 45 mph the car display controls when off and turned back on. The second time I was turning into a parking stall and the car died mid park at which point I had to manually restart. The most recent time I was driving my kids to school and the car died while going 35 I had to pull over to the shoulder (with no power steering) and restart the engine. The music and headlights remained on while the engine was off. The car starts right up without hesitation and the local Dodge delearship is not finding a code to properly detect the problem their best guess is to replace the tipm in hopes it will fix the problem. I need a safe reliable car and not one that is as risk of dying mid drive and causing an accident hurting my family or others.

48 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/02/2018

My vehicle stalls in the rain. It stalls at a stop or rolling speeds. It idles rough first and then stalls or shuts off. Sometimes the check engine light will come on, but not always. This only occurs in the rain. I've had several mechanics look at it, and they can't figure out how to solve the problem. I've spent a lot of money trying to get this fixed. Through online research, I've discovered that many other Durango owners are experiencing this same issue.

50 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/04/2018

I was supposed to have had recall service completed on my vehicle July 23, 2017. A few days later, I started experience a banging noise and shaking of the car. I contacted service to schedule an appointment and no one returned my call. A little more than a week later on August 4th, while driving between 40 and 50 mph, the car started making a grinding noise, lost power, slowed down as it started to sputter. The sounds and feeling, reminded me of driving a manual car and having it in the wrong gear. I have taken the car in to three dealerships, five times now. Only to be told, no codes were found so nothing can be done. Dodge needs to train its mechanic how to diagnose cars without a code and listen to their customers.

63 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/15/2017

T38 recall: I've taken my vehicle into prestige Chrysler Dodge, las vegas on three separate occasions concerned about loss of power and stalling while turning and have been informed that no parts are available to fix the problem for the t38 recall. Yesterday I was almost rear-ended because my vehicle lost power during a turn off the interstate. They have however, charged me for other issues like an oil pressure sensor (see attached) that has not fixed my loss of power. I called fca recall and they have sent me to an alternative dealership for a replacement alternator. Prestige Chrysler Dodge of las vegas is refusing to fix known safety issues and advised me that they had tested my alternator and knew it was faulty, yet could not repair it without the recall parts. Their dealership is placing people's lives at risk because they do not want to do the temporary fix and then have to complete the recall again when the replacement alternators are issued. This is unethical, irresponsible, and negligent. The recall was issued in July--they have had my Durango 3 times, known about the stall and refused to assist me. I also have an extended warranty and asked to have the alternator replaced with that--they refused again saying the warranty wouldn't touch a known defect. Please take action before this dealership places another family in danger for refusing to comply with NHTSA safety regulations.

64 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/29/2017

It is a awd car but sometime the 4lo light comes on with a very annoying noise from the bottom of the car or engine, then the speed being slowed down significantly, the car becomes hard to keep going. The streaking sound and the speed being reduced like the break being stepped on abrubtly makes me pull over for safety.

65 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/01/2017

~October 2017, I was parked in my driveway with my daughter in the rear seat; I was getting ready to exit my driveway when I realized my key fob was inside the house. I left the car to go get my key fob and left the door open; by the time I got to my back door, my daughter was screaming (she was in her car seat) and the car was moving backward down the driveway, scraping against the house, into the street and across the road to the neighbor's house up their driveway. I ran after the vehicle and right before it struck my neighbor's garage, was able to throw my foot into the brake from the side while I fell on the ground. I was bruised and my car was damaged, but most importantly my daughter was fine but scared. I went to the dealership to have them take a look at the door/mirror and complained about the issue (this is referenced in the "action plan" for the visit), and the gentleman at the mike smith beaumont dealership stated that my vehicle must have had a quirk, because there was already an update available on that which they would test. When I came back to get my vehicle, I asked about the update, and he stated that he was mistaken; that only pickup trucks were getting that update. I asked why, because there's no less safety risk in a Durango (in fact, probably more children). He did not have an answer but said he would get back to me. No one did, and I complained to Dodge online. Eventually in August 2018 I got an oddly phrased notice that did not use the word recall but stated that "repairs" needed to be made. I wrote to Dodge again and asked if they would assist with the original problems to my door/window but they would not. I am disappointed that Dodge did not include Durangos in this obviously existing technology and disappointed that it took a year to take any action (which does not help my repairs). I am very grateful we were not more badly injured.

67 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

When traveling on the expressway or the street at 40 to 50 mph my 2008 Dodge Durango almost loses control whenever I hit a groove in the road or the slightest bump. My suspension has been check several times and nothing is ever found to be wrong. I was recently at the dealership for another recall when I asked about this issue and I was informed this was called the "death wobble" or the "road walk". When I hit a bump my truck can literally skip into the next lane. I have researched online and found this is a common problem for Dodge suvs. I don't understand how something so potentially dangerous has not been addressed. This has been an ongoing issue. My first step is to file a vehicle safety to make you guys aware of the issue. This has been ongoing and I've ignored it thinking that is just the way these trucks are made, but after almost losing control with my family in the car I have to do something.

69 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/08/2017

On Thursday, June 8, 2017 I had just exited a major freeway and was coming up to a red light when all of the sudden my a/c started blowing hot air. As I made my left turn to head home all of the lights on my dash came on (saying service park assist, driver seatbelt unbuckled, abs, and many others) as I crossed 3 lanes of traffic to get off the road and in to a parking lot I lost all power to my vehicle. I parked in the parking lot and turned off the vehicle, opened my hood and it was full of smoke and you could smell the electrical burn from a fire. My vehicle was impossible to get loaded on to a tow truck because in the process of getting it into neutral to load, the wipers began going off, along with all of the dash lights and the smoke began again and started to fill the passenger compartment. By the time we got it home to drop it off there was no power to the vehicle at all.

70 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/19/2017

As I turned right, the vehicle once again stalled. The engine turned off, but all the electrical systems continued to work. I placed my foot on the gas to demonstrate that it would not move while the vehicle was still in drive. Then I did the same with the break to demonstrate that it wouldn't respond. I put the vehicle in park with my foot on the brake and the vehicle restarted. My children were in the vehicle and my oldest son recorded until we reached the intended stopping point. The mileage on the vehicle was 94,624. The vehicle had a trigger box / flight recorder, but it quit functioning the previous week when the car also stopped last week.
