Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problems of the 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan

Seven problems related to transmission slip out of gear have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2002

Reported and inquired to daimler Chrysler and awaiting response. When shifting from park to drive transmission will not engage. This first began about one year ago and was mentioned during regular services but nothing was determined. Problem is becoming more regular. Also experience an incident when entering a highway tranmission would not shift out of first gear. I increased speed to about 45 mph and tranmission still would not shift and rpm was beginning red line. After pulling over and stopping and turning off vehicle and restarting did vehicle operate normally. Dt.

2 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2001

At 72,691 miles, the automatic transmission would not shift. The transmission was replaced with a rebuilt transmission. At 120,000 miles transmission slipped out of gear, causing the vehicle to slow down and not move.

3 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2000

Made a the purchase in Nov. With 37373 miles on the vehicle, major transmission failure at 46500 miles. The transmission will no longer shift out of low gear. Neither Chrysler or the dealer from which I purchased the vehicle will stand behind there product. These vehicles are known for having severe transmission problems and Chrysler claims they have fixed the issues so why is it that these vehicles continue to have these problems. A major recall for all these vehicles should be made as the consumers are continually being lied to and taken advantage of.

4 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 12/14/1999

Automatic lock motor doesn't shut off right away when opened from keyless remote or during autolock when driving, struts are leaking oil at less than 50000 miles, windshield wipers lock up during cold weather, transmission slips out of gear during cold weather, front brakes vibrate and chatter: pads and rotors have been replaced twice in the last 6 months, grinding noise from steering column, whinning noise during accelleration. Are there any recalls regarding these issues. The car is falling apart after 4 years.

5 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

Failure Date: 06/21/1999

Automatic transmission has slipped out of gear at low speeds multiple times. Instances include slip out of gear at low speed after accelerating from stop. Also, instances where the transmission and engine would stall/shut down during low speed driving. During one instance, the van stallled and nearly caused an accident as the power systems failed. Only able to resume driving after vehicle has been turned off and allowed to sit for a few minutes.

6 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

After the vehicle was serviced for a recall the technician noticed transmission problems. The consumer also noticed that the vehicle made a popping noise and was slipping out of gear.

7 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem

The vehicles transmission failed causing it to slip out of gear while driving and the ses light to illuminate. Nlm.
