2012 Dodge Grand Caravan stalled when driving and I lost the steering. This can be live threatening!! no codes come up when trying to diagnose the issue. Mechanic tried to duplicate the stalling issue by driving it for a week. Not able to duplicate the issue. Looking at forums this seems to be an ongoing issue. Hopefully nobody will die from a stalling engine that looses steering. When put in park it turns back on with no issues. This has happened to me now for the third time. Again, this needs to be looked at before someone dies!!!!.

Car stalls unexpectedly while driving. The engine stops and there is a complete loss of power. Power steering fails and it is difficult to manouver vehicle. I can successfully restart the vehicle by either stopping the car, shifting into park, and restarting by turning the key, or shifting into neutral while the car is still in motion, then turning the key to restart, and then shifting back into drive. This has happened at least 10 times on the freeway going at freeway speeds over the past year, and dmore than 50 times on surface streets. Often this happens when hitting a bump in the road, but sometimes there isn't an obvious cause. Once while driving on a bumpy dirt road it repeatedly stalled, but when I held the key in place, it stopped stalling. We had the dealer look at it and they couldn't find any problems. We replaced the key thinking that might help, and it seemed to for a few months, but now the problem is worse than ever, stalling at least several times a week. In the past several months the car almost always won't start on the initial key turn. I have to hold it in start position for several seconds longer than normal, and I have to give it some gas and rev the engine for it to start. Having the car stall at any point while driving is frightening, but when this has happened on the highway, it is terrifying and horribly dangerous for me, my family, and other vehicles around me.

It was in motion from speeds of 25-40 mph on city streets. Twice on a turn and 6 times going straight.

When we fist got the van we experienced some issues with the brakes. The dealership was supposed to take care of it but the problem persisted and we went to a recommended mechanic. Then the following months we had some issues with the motor mounts. Once again we had to replace them and then we had some problems with the electronic computer and we had to re-learn some of the already installed programs. I would like for whoever approves the recalls to go ahead and approve the other issues because for it being a six year old car it definitely has more issues than it should.
The vehicle stops running without warning. It has occurred on three occasions: once at a slow speed (25 mph) on flat terrain, going uphill at 57 mph, going down hill at 45 mph, all in good weather conditions and traveling in a straight line. The car cannot be immediately restarted, but after a period of minutes will restart. The engine seems to be in good condition and has plenty of power. There appears to be no engine/mechanical reason for these events. The events leave no trace or error message that can be obtained by our mechanic. If this power outage occurred when in the passing lane, crossing a rode at an unprotected intersection or other condition where stalling out randomly would leave us or others in a life threatening situation it would be terrible. We have been forced to stop driving the vehicle for fear of injury or worse.
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle would restart however; it failed to shift gears. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer (brown-daub inc, 3903 hecktown rd, easton, PA, 18045) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure under case number: 32110215 and due to the vehicle being over 100,000 miles it no longer was covered by the warranty as a result no further assistance was offered. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the vehicle was taken to the dealer a total of three times due to the contact experiencing difficulties in shifting gears. The failure was unable to be duplicated. In addition, the contact mentioned in October of 2015 the engine had to be replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 133,000.

Driving down freeway and van stalled. Coasted to road side. Wipers go crazy when car is parked and drain all the cleaning fluid out. Have not been able to clean windshield of excess dirt to see more clearly. Car has gone crazy. Everything electrical goes berserk randomly. Never know what may or may not work.
Van stalls and sometimes will not start back up . This has happened a few times on the highway so I can no longer drive the van as this problem is getting worst every day my husband drives it to work and has had the same problem as I have had with the van. We are thinking of trading it in but don't want anyone to get suck in the middle of the highway.

Van either exhibits a slow to none start as well as stalling while driving, usually in 1st 10 minutes of driving.
The vehicle just stalls while driving. This was the case yesterday and today. I have to put it back on park in order to re-start the engine. The latest instances are not the first time we experienced this problem. My wife reported it at least a couple of times. The dealership once told me that was probably caused by the weight of the key ring and with other things attached to it. Since then, I make sure to drive with only the Dodge key on the ignition, taking down all everything else from the key ring.

Every time I fill up the vehicle with gas, it stalls every time within the first few minutes, last week daughter was merging into traffic when it happened and almost got rear-ended. This has been happening for a while now. Last winter I wasn't able to fill the vehicle, the pump kept shutting down but that went away after the weather warmed up.
This van dies while in operation, most often within the first 5 miles of driving in the morning. It has gotten to the point where it happens every single day, sometimes multiple times a day. It appears to happen most frequently when decelerating (upon taking our foot off the gas, the tachometer bounces way down (~500rpm or so), then stutters a bit, then the vehicle stalls/dies. This has happened while turning at an intersection several times, and we narrowly escaped a collision. We have had 2 key fob recalls performed, as Chrysler had attributed the problem to faulty fobs/ignition switches. . . . The most recent recall was performed less than 6 months ago. No change was noted after the recall work was performed. The problem rarely happens on the highway, although it did happen to my wife last week while she was at highway speed on the interstate. I'm listing today's date in the field of "when did this happen?", as it did happen to me today while in an intersection, turning left - I immediately shifted into neutral and restarted it, narrowly missing the car to my right which was also turning left. . . But it happens virtually every day now.
Car dies without warning. Acceleration, steering and braking compromised and dangerous. Happens randomly, when stopping, when accelerating when cruising at highway speeds. Engine hot and cold. New ignition installed as part of recall program and the problem has gotten worse since the "fix".
My van was sitting in my driveway. I used the key fob to attempt to unlock the doors and instead the horn started honking, wipers going, washer fluid spraying and lights flashing. It did not stop and the doors would not unlock. I had to use the hidden key in the key fob to manually unlock the door to open the hood and disconnect the battery. I reconnected it and attempted to drive it to my mechanic. It stalled after about 50 feet. I ended up being able to drive it to the mechanic four days later. My mechanic said it had 6 recalls on it (which I was not notified of) and needed the tipm replaced, which was not a part of a recall. He said Chrysler would not allow him to buy the part and I would have to take it directly to the dealer. He said the part is $780 and does not include labor! I cannot afford this and I need this vehicle! I have three kids! I did some research online and saw that this part on my van was a part of a lawsuit. When they settled the lawsuit, they did not include the 2008 Grand Caravan. This is the same exact faulty part that is in the other vehicles that are covered by the lawsuit/recall! there is absolutely no reason I should have to pay for any of this.
Van has been stalling out since I have owned it. I purchased new in 2008. It is at second dealer performing recall for the ignition for the second time. I have been with out a vehicle since 3/26/2016. First dealer dutch miller Dodge kept van from 3/26/16 until 5/6/16. Released vehicle back to me with same problem it went in for. I have filed a complaint with Dodge . After having to schedule a appointment with a different dealer and wait for a service date of 6/20/16. The vehicle is at the new dealership I 77 ripley. They are redoing the recall from a year ago that dutch miller had performed. This is the fourth week they have been working on the vehicle and recall problem. I have requested many times for a rental car and both the lifetime warranty I purchased with the van and Dodge have both refused to provide me a vehicle. I have been since March 26, 2016. Without a vehicle and I have had to borrow cars from family and beg for rides because Dodge can not or will not fix my recall on my van . I have been very patient with this situation but something needs to be done. If this vehicle I paid $41,000. 00 for in 2008 is not repairable and not safe to be on public roads due to recall then I feel they need to reimburse me and compensate for my transportation problems. .

Faulty tipm. Wife transporting children, van stalls and cannot be started after multiple attempts. No pwer to entire vehicle. Very dangerous. Dodge says this is not a recall but online research exposes that this is a huge safety issue. What is going on. Issue a reecall before someone gets hurt or killed!!.
