1 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 02/24/2023

Check engine light came on. Vehicle would shake and have trouble accelerating when I put my foot on the gas pedal, it was worse if gone above 45 mph. Vehicle was sent to mechanic for diagnosis and repair. P0302 code was read for #2 fuel cylinder misfire. Pcv valve, coil pack, all spark plugs, & fuel injector were replaced. Check engine light is still on. Vehicle cannot be operated under mechanics safety recommendation. There is still a cylinder 2 misfire. Car can stall at anytime if operated. Dodge dealership have been notified and said there are no recalls. Warranty only covers up to 60,000 for power train issues. I’ve called another shop as well for a 3rd opinion, the engine has been failing in many vehicles with the same code.

2 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

Engine oil capacity is listed as 6 quarts (us) in multiple sources, however after draining and refilling engine on a level surface with 6 quarts, the dipstick reading showed at min level. After adding an additional 1/2 quart, the level reached the full mark. Most vehicle dipsticks are designed such that the amount of oil required to raise the level from min to max is 1 quart. There is no indication on the dipstick to indicate either way. This might also explain why my dealer overfilled the crankcase when I had them perform a previous oil change. Underfilling as well as overfilling the oil can result in premature engine wear and failure, as per manufacturers own literature and as such may constitute a potential safety hazard. A TSB should be issued to specify the correct capacity (6. 5qts? unless dipstick markings are wrong) and also to explain the dipstick markings, assuming the current design is correct.

The approximate failure mileage was 56,000. The VIN was unavailable. Pam.

4 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

Passenger side rear sliding door locks and will not unlock with key fob or unlock button on both front doors. It also will not open with a pull on the inside door handle. You have to manually unlock it on that door before it will open. I think this would cause a issue if I ever need to get my kids out in a hurry! also this van has 30000 miles on it and it uses approximately 1-1/2 quart of oil every 1000 miles. Its not showing any sighs of leaking anywhere in the engine or under the van and not leaving any puddles anywhere. I asked the Dodge dealership and they said this was normal for a Dodge vehicle. . . . In my eyes that should not be using that much oil. I am using what is required 10w20 sae according to me owners manual. I have replaced the pcv valve and still continuing to loose oil.
