1 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 06/11/2013

I've been dealing with an oil consumption problem for over 20,000 miles now. I have a case # with Chrysler headquarters but the dealer can't find where the oil is going. I was three quarts low at one oil change and Chrysler said that is within their limits of one quart every 750 miles for a vehicle over 50,000 miles. I find that unacceptable. That would mean I would be 8 quarts low in an engine that only has 5 quarts at a 6000 mile oil change. I've found many other people,on line. With the same problem. One tech. Said to write your dept. Since I had no other place to turn.

2 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 12/15/2011

In December of 2011, we decided to check the oil in our 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan because the sound of the motor seemed to have changed. The van seemed to be running a little louder. We checked the oil, and sure enough there was no oil on the stick. We didn't know what happened to the oil. We wasn't sure if it leaked or burned. We brought the vehicle into the dealership. They asked if we noticed the oil leaking, we said no. They said in situations like these we document the mileage and top the oil off and have you come back up to 1000 miles later. So we did. We did this several times. The dealership admitted this shouldn't be occurring and the vehicle is definitely burning too much oil. They kept the van made a claim with nac our van warranty company to pay for expenses of repair, and nac sent back a report saying Chrysler vehicles are expected to burn up to a quart to a quart and a half of oil for every 750 miles driven. So they sent us away without repairs. Literally less than a week and about 550 miles later we were back at the dealership with more than 2 quarts of oil documented being burned. The dealership kept our van for repairs again. . . The warranty refused to pay for repairs and we are driving the van as is. . . Im not sure of the safety issues but im sure there are many that can be assessed. I've searched the web and we are not the only consumers who are having this problem. We carry our family of seven to and from school etc and the purpose of newer vehicles are to ensure safety and eliminate worries of problems. Please help.

3 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 12/12/2011

Multiple problems. Worst first. High oil consumpsion, maintain vehicle faithfully. At approx. 70 k miles the engine oil light popped on. Checked oil. Was not registering on stick. Over three qts low! engine continues to use 3-4 qts between oil changes (3000 miles). Van is on its third set of brakes. Tires have to be rotated very often becuase the front ruins tires quickly. Have had to replace the key fob twice. Both times it has left us stranded with no warning. Van is now in the shop for bad motor mounts. Gauge cluster has been replaced once. Heater hose "y" connection blew apart while on vacation at approx. 75k miles. (engine did not overheat). Van is on its third or fourth battery. Power sliding doors continually have problems closing. Power steering pump whines since 15k miles. Van currently has 91k miles.

4 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 05/06/2011

Dear sir/madam: my 2007 Dodge minivan manufactured by Chrysler has a defective engine. The 3. 8l engine burns oil and oil consumption tests done proved the same. I was made aware of this issue by mechanics outside of dealership service which when notified back, reluctantly accepted the issue and went on to state that I had to pay to fix the problem related to worn out piston rings. Repairs of this nature are expensive and on brief research on internet, other customers have experiences the same problems. When vehicle was under warranty, I encountered many engine related symptoms like sluggish performance, engine whining or hissing noise and such. It's my belief that Chrysler service failed to do necessary tests to detect this issue.

5 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 10/15/2003

My 1998 Grand Caravan suddenly started burning oil. My mechanic says this is due to leaking valves that are common in the 3. 0l engine. The disturbing part is the oil light never came on despite a very low level of engine oil. I contacted the manufacturer regarding both problems and received no assistance with either problem. The engine and warning light malfucntions resulted in lifter damage that was repaired at a cost of $500.
