Engine is throwing a po302 code, cylinder #2 has low compression, exhaust valve guide has loose tolerance from manufactuer, Dodge won't stand behind repair due to 2nd ownwership, Dodge knowes this is a design flaw and needs to cover the repair cost. It is my understanding that some states have class action law suits filed, I am unable to drive or sell this vehicle because of the engine code and repair will cost +$3000.

5 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 10/11/2013

Plastic y adapter that connects the two heater core hoses began leaking as a drip onto the exhaust. The leak was so slight and random that it was tough to locate. However you could smell the antifreeze as it burns off because it comes directly into the cab. I have read that Chrysler is not recalling this due to it not being a safety issue. I tend to disagree with this as inhaling antifreeze can overtime can be harmful as ingesting it is. And since this is typically a family vehicle could affect younger children greater such as my 14 month old and three older children under the age of 11. Chrysler will fix this at the dealer for a whopping $350 and to buy the part alone to dyi is $140. This is ridiculous as it can be replaced with $10 worth of parts from local auto parts store. So not only is there a problem that should be recalled due to the safety risk, but Chrysler is charging way too much for the repair. I love this van, but hope this is the worst thing I have to deal with going forward. Bought the vehicle new, had all recalls done to date and plan to keep this vehicle for the next ten years. Thanks for hearing me out and for your time! please look at this and require Chrysler to recall to help out all of the people who will have this problem going forward and will go broke fixing this $5 part.

6 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 01/14/2011

Bought vehicle on 12-14-2010(used from a car dealer) vehicle was suppose to have been inspected(72 point check) this van had 34,916 miles on it. Dealer did recalls and warranty work. We complained about the tire "light" going on & off. Was advised that nothing was wrong with the monitor, that the tires just needed a little air for the higher altitude. They over filled tires. Tire light came on again. This time we were advise, by a tire dealer, that the valves(monitors) were cracked & leaking air. Also the engine light came on and stayed on until we got to the dealer, he said to turn off the motor and restart the engine. This time it went off. After reading the complaints about engine lights, we are scared that the dealers are again lying to us. We do not want to end up with the vehicle just stopping on us on the highway, infront of an 18 wheeler! this engine light problem has occurred to others and their transmission just quit. We believe that these dealers, are in denial. Why did the dealer tell my husband just to turn off the vehicle without using a code to find out what the problem is? we have had the vehicle in 2 times about the 'low tire" light & each time they just blew it off as needing air! it was an independent tire person who actually examined the tire to find the cracked valve-he did not have any thing to gain, as the valve stem was returned again to the dealer. When we looked back at the repair tickets (2) we noticed that our reporting of the tire light being on was not even on either of the repair tickets! btw: our 1999 Dodge ram 1500 truck has the irregular & accellerated idle as well as the "out of no where" acceleration, which we found many complaints on the internet. We copied dozens of these complaints off the internet, as well as their solutions/fixes and gave the stack of paperwork to the dealer. (we had been back to the dealers dozens of times previously) as the problem kept coming back. The internet repairs it worked. We hope these can be 2.

10 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 04/17/2006

: the contact stated the exhaust pipe protrudes below the bottom of the vehicle. The child may touch this pipe. Updated 5/10/2006 - the exhaust pipe protrudes below the bottom of the vehicle and is too close to the outside edge (rocker panel). The pipe is located on the right side of the vehicle which is the side the consumer child safety seat is installed. When the sliding door is opened the child could be burned by the pipe. The consumer indicated that the pipe is only like this on the stow and go model Grand Caravan. Updated 5/10/2006 - the parking brake cable had to be replaced and rerouted. The engine ran rough while idling and in park. The fuel gauge was erratic. At 1/4 of a tank or less the needle moves back and forth from empty to 1/4 of a tank.

My three young children were burnt on the exhaust pipe of our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan w/sto & go seats. While reaching their leg under the van, to retrieve a quarter they dropped, they each received 1st & 2nd degree burns on their legs. The coin was only a few inches under the van; you could see it by standing on the passenger side of vehicle. When standing along the passenger side of vehicle you can plainly see the exhaust pipe just several inches under the sliding side door.

15 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 07/05/1999

Our 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan was modified for my wife who is disabled and confined to a wheelchair. The Mini van was converted by vantage mobility International (vmi) in phoenix az. During the modifiacation, the exhaust system was re-routed and during normal driving conditions, caused the muffler to move and sever the right rear brake fluid line as well as the abs electrical controller line. The movement of the exhaust system also punctured a hole in the rear of the muffler that would have also presented a carbon monoxide situation. If I had not had my local Dodge dealer look at my van on this particular day, my family would have been in an accident. This company provides these vehicles nationwide and this situation could continue to present a safety hazard to other owners and should be investigated. Thank you.
