The sliding door locks/actuators on the rear sliding doors do not engage allowing the doors to open even when the doors are locked leaving the risk of the doors opening while the vehicle is moving or allowing someone to break into the vehicle since the doors won't lock and can be opened, even when the rest of the doors on the vehicle are locked.

The lock mechanism on the driver side sliding door is stuck in the lock position. From what I’m reading online this is a very common issue. It seems to me that being unable to open the door could be a huge safety concern.

My back passenger sliding door buzzes loudly when it unlocks or locks. It just started 3 days ago and I've had the van since early this year. Normal usage, never misused. I take good care of the van.

The sliding door on the back passenger side will not unlock. A lot of times we carry grandchildren still in car seats and in case of an emergency, this can be a safety hazard.
This morning the headrest on the passenger side was deployed the van was parked in driveway overnight. Not sure how this happened. I feel this is a safety issue. If I was driving and someone was sitting in that sit that could have hurt them. This is a default on your vehicle . Please contact me.

Sliding door actuator failed causing the door to remain in the locked position and no way to unlock. The actuator arm broke off due to inaffective connection and therefor without cutting a hole in the door it cannot be opened.

The head rest popped out for no reason. I noticed it when I got into the car.
Sliding door lock stuck. Door will not open in emergency.
This is the third time I am filing a complaint. My 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan completely dies and looses all power going over 50 miles per hour. No warning, no codes appear, nothing. Looses all power, power steering, brakes, etc. Have to get to side of road, wait 20 minutes, then car will start. This has happened now over 16 times. The latest time with my grandchild in the car, the vehicle behind me almost crashed into me. This continues to be a safety issue and it is unclear as to why Dodge is doing nothing about this despite multiple complaints by hundreds of drivers. I have spent over $3000 so far trying to fix this to no avail, new battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, tpm relay, new keys, new programming, still happens. Will never buy another Dodge/Chrysler again, and have told family and friends the same potential hazard of this brand.
As I was driving home on a city street, the entire car locked. I had no steering control. My brakes didn’t work the entire vehicle locked. In the middle of the street. I turned the ignition off, put it in park and restarted the car only then did it work properly. This is the second time this vehicle has locked. This is very dangerous as I had a child in the car with me and I was in traffic. My brakes didn’t work, I had to use two feet really hard then I was able to stop the vehicle. The steering wheel didn’t work. Nothing worked. I don’t know what’s the problem. The very first time this happened, while dropping the child off at school, I put the car in park, I was not able to get the shifter out of park. The car locked. I sat in my car, wondering what to do decided to go on the web and check out problems with this particular vehicle, then I noticed there is a little door leading to the shifter to change it manually. But when you are in traffic, there is no time to look for a screwdriver to open the door to do anything manually. This is a safety hazard and I really don’t know why there is not a recall on this vehicle.
When you are driving all of a sudden it just won't go forward and it has slipped into neutral. You have to find a place to coast so you can shut it off and restart it then it will go again. You never know when it's going to do it so it's very dangerous because there is not always a place to pull over. I have to put my flashers on and hope everyone goes around. I took it to repair place and they were unfamiliar with this happening. It does this from 1 to 4 times a day.

While driving, rear driver side sliding door opened and continues to do so.
My car started making a loud buzzing sound after starting it up and driving. The sound startled me and I was scared to drive. It stopped so I continued on with my day. Every time I started it up and drove it did the same thing. Finally after getting home and hitting the lock on my remote, it did the same noise locking the car. I realized it is an issue with a motor on the automatic locking mechanism. I don’t know what it means or if it’s a safety issue but it really frightened me because it’s so loud. I don’t have a picture but I do have a video of the noise.

Very shortly after purchasing the vehicle, the rear drivers side sliding door stopped opening. It cannot be opened manually or with the button. It seems to be stuck in the locked position. I was aggravated but let it go because I had the other side sliding door functioning. Yesterday 06/06/2024 the passenger side sliding door did the same thing. I have 4 children that had no way out of my vehicle other than to climb through the 2 front seats. In the event of an accident this would be an incredibly unsafe situation. I noticed that there was a recall for this issue for my model of vehicle that ended in 2017. Mine is a 2018 and therefore not covered by that particular recall.
Doors make loud buzzing sound every time opened.
I had a flat tire (drivers front). I parked on a level parking lot. I put bricks behind other tires to prevent movement. Next I loosened lug nuts, I then removed the spare and original equipment jack. I began jacking the car up with the jack in the area indicated for jacking by the instructions. The tire was off the ground. I was beginning to spin off the lug nuts when the car dropped with a brrrrrt sound. The main screw in the scissors jack pulled through the threaded nut on the end. The jack was still upright but the screw threads failed. No one was hurt but the potential is high for the jack to fail suddenly and without warning. Note the van was not occupied or in any way loaded. The second picture attempts to show the screw threads deformed after pulling through the nut.

Sliding door lock actuator failure resulting in inability to exit the vehicle quickly in the case of emergency.
The lock on the right side sliding door panel does not latch. The door manually closes but will not lock when pressing the automated lock/unlock buttons from both the driver and passenger sides and the car remote.
Sliding door latch mechanism failed on the right rear passenger door. Part number 68030380ae. The right rear passenger door was locked in the closed position. No amount of effort would open the door. I feel this is a severe safety issue. If there was an accident, especially involving the vehicle catching fire, the passenger would not be able to exit the vehicle. Please help. There should be a manual override for this latch mechanism.
The door locks and right passenger sliding door has failed and continues to do so on my vehicle. There is a buzzing sound when the doors lock and although the locks go down ,the right passenger sliding door is not really locked. On at least 2 separate occasions my 4 year old grandson was able to open the door while the vehicle was in gear and moving at speed. Another occasion I was at a red light and a person was able to open the right passenger sliding door, the alarm went off and scared him and truthfully me too ,the left passenger sliding door doesn't have this problem. Because of this I am aware now if any of my doors lock ,although the buttons go down.

The door lock actuator on the driver's side sliding door seized causing the door to be completely inoperable. The inability to open the rear door is a huge safety concern when transporting children as they can not be easily removed from the vehicle in an emergency.
Front seat passenger headrest has deployed. Vehicle was not in an accident. Don’t know when it happened. I noticed it when a friend was getting in the car. Who is responsible for this one? and I am afraid the driver headrest will deploy when I am driving.
Both sliding door actuators are malfunctioning. The door locks have to be manually locked and unlock. Searching the internet, I found that if the door is not lock, the door can disengage and fly open. This has not occurred and we keep the doors locked. I was told by the dealership that because my 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan was manufactured in canada that the rt warranty does not pertain to my vehicle. This is a very expensive repair. Since both of my doors are affected, it could cost around $1,300 to repair both. If this was an isolated incident, I could understand having to pay for the repair. However, it seems to be a common problem. The part is defective and the cost should not be bared by the consumer.
Unable to open rear left sliding door, lock actuator is failed. Burning smell from left sliding door 1 year ago. Right sliding door make buzzing noice from the lock actuator area, sometimes unable to open sliding door.
Passenger's sliding door will not unlock electronically or manually making an obvious safety hazard for my children gran children. All other doors are working at this time. Problem started approximately 04/01/24. My research has shown many complaints of this safety hazard for this year/ make/model 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. Should be recalled if not already. Unique.
It is unknown at this time what is wrong with the vehicle. The problem started two weeks ago. Initially after driving sustained highway speeds, the van will hesitate to brake when driving through town. When approaching a stop it would stutter to a stop and then stutter to drive again when pressing the gas, the delay was about 2-3 seconds. In two weeks time with approximately 200 miles driven, it started stalling at stops. Once at a traffic light and also at a stop sign. These incidents happened in the same day and since then, it had not been driven due to it being a major safety concern. It has been taken to an auto shop that has run the full diagnostics on it and the computer system is not catching any issues, there are no lights are on the dash. After the engine stalls, it runs if it is turned off and back on again. The brakes, rotors, and tires were replaced when I started noticing that there was an issue with stopping, I figured the problem was that they needed replaced since I have owned the vehicle 2 years and it hadn’t been done since I purchased the van. March 17 was the date it stalled twice and it was the only time the engine stalled in the past two weeks.
The driver side sliding door locking mechanism is locked and will not open using the button or manually. Therefore, that door will not open at all. If that passenger needed to escape the vehicle quickly it would not be possible. It also makes repairing the mechanism more difficult and the cost for these repairs at a dealer are very prohibitive. It appears that this is an ongoing issue with Dodge Grand Caravans and like models and seems like an unsafe planned obsolescence of the parts that are supposed to be make this vehicle safer. No codes are registering on the dashboard.
In March 13, 2024, when unlocking the doors from the driver's side control panel there was an audible buzzing sound from the passenger side sliding door. The door was still able to unlock and lock. After doing some research online I found that there was a problem with the locking door actuator that would cause a buzzing sound when engaged. This continued to happen anytime that sliding door was either locked or unlocked. In June of 2024, using the driver's side control panel, I attempted to unlock the passenger sliding door. The door didn't make the buzzing sound, but it also would not unlock. The door was seized shut. I use this vehicle to transport my three children to and from school. Their drop offs are on the right hand side. With the passenger sliding door being seized shut, because of the faulty actuator, my children have to get out on the driver's side door and into incoming traffic! this is a great risk to my children. I called to get it repaired from the dealer I purchased it from with the actuator recall that was issued only to be told thaty vehicle wasn't covered in that recall, yet I still have a door that is seized shut from the recalled actuator part.
While driving car changed gears into neutral. Gear shift in park but it showed it was still in reverse. Power door would not open while dash showed in reverse.
My 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan gt driver side sliding door is jammed shut and locked. I took it to 2 dealerships near me and both want almost $1000 per door to fix. The actuator is out and they said the loud noise when opening and closing the passenger side sliding door is a sign that door is also about to go out. My VIN doesn’t fall into the recalls. This seems like it is a hazard. If both doors indeed get stuck then how do you get car seats in and out? isn’t it dangerous if other kids have to climb in and out the front doors? I’m so confused how this isn’t a recall when it will be dang near impossible to move car seats and kids through front doors or even moving 3rd row to get in and out and put back up for it to be sat in. What do you do in event of a crash if you can get kids out? please help! this has been going on since March 2024. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. My check engine light came on in November 2023 and the code was a cylinder 2 misfire, so I had new spark plugs, ignition coil, and intake gaskets put in. About 2 days later, my check engine light came back on. I went back to the shop and was told it could be a number of things, but was not provided any set explanation. I then noticed that they engine light will turn off randomly, but then come right back on, so I thought it might be a wiring issue. I took my vehicle to my mechanic for diagnostic, due to my check engine light still being on after having the spark plugs, ignition coil, and intake gaskets replaced within the last 6 months. My mechanic said that my vehicle needs a new cylinder head, and that he has seen this same issue with several other Dodge Grand Caravans, and that another vehicle with the same parts was recalled for the same problem.
The headrest on the passenger side front deployed for no reason as the car was sitting overnight. It cannot be reset.
