1 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 02/25/2023

The air bag light remains on. I was told that it is responsible for the driver's side air bag. It was formally documented on February 25th, 2023 by firestone on king st. In northampton, MA 01035. It has been brought to lia Dodge king street in northampton, MA 01060. They told me the wiring part to repair this is on backorder and not available until August 2023 and not guaranteed to be available. In addition, I was told it would cost $900. 00 to install. I was told this by multiple people including Chrysler Dodge customer service. I was told a new part is in development and not ready until August 2023. If this is in fact, true, then this is a huge safety risk for all 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan driver's who have the air bag light on and may or may not have a working air bag. This is a huge safety issue. Additionally, I was told that the part is a "wiring harness" part#68531685aa and it would cost $900. 00 to install. On the mopar site, it is just the jumper wire sensor" part# 68531685aa and is $45. 00 plus $20. 00 shipping!!!! I was also told by Chrysler Dodge customer service that a Dodge dealer can install the part after I buy the part on mopar. Com and lia Dodge told me they could not. My car has been rejected following a failed inspection for the airbag light and also the rusted clamp that is holding the exhaust pipes together and co2 is backing up into the cabin. In addition to the sensor jumper wire part# 98531685aa, the vehicle should also be recalled for the part# 4578916ab the exhaust clamp that is rusted and falling off causing co2 to back up into the cabin according to both lia Dodge and auto express in hadley, MA 01035. The vehicle is off the road and not able to be repaired or inspected as it is illegal to drive until it is inspected. Please confirm the above information regarding the parts and start a recall so I can have these problems fixed or reimbursed by Dodge the manufacturer, as they should be by the manufacturer. The vehicle only has 70,000 miles.

2 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 02/17/2023

I am getting a code for the thorax squib sensor. The dealership states I need a driver-side seat wire harness. We were put at risk by the intermittent connection of the air bag sensor. As the line became frayed and wires broke. The airbags system was compromised causing the system to not function properly. The problem occurred when I was moving my set back and forth. The air bag and seat belt light came on. The light would come off and on. Putting my family at risk.

3 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 07/30/2020

The following has happened to my car. The ahr headrest went off, and I wasn't in an accident. However, Dodge Chrysler is not wanting to issue a recall since a person is not at risk for injury. However, cost to fix this headrest runs in the $500-$900 category. And it's a known issue. So why isn't Dodge Chrysler acknowledging it? the active head restraint (ahr) headrests found in certain Chrysler vehicles and manufactured by grammer ag suffer from a defect. The 65-page lawsuit out of florida alleges that although fca us and grammer ag's active head restraint is meant to spring forward in the event of a rear-end collision to catch a vehicle occupant's head to prevent whiplash, the feature can deploy without warning or external force from a collision, and forcefully strike the back of a driver or passenger's head. Describing the apparent defect as common and uniform, the case claims the force of the impact to the back of a vehicle occupant's head and neck can cause serious injury and creates an additional accident risk should the defect manifest suddenly while a vehicle is in operation. According to the lawsuit, the cause of the defect is the failure of a cheap plastic component inside the defendants ahr. Specifically, the feature contains a plastic bracket that acts as the triggering mechanism and holds the feature's spring-loaded release in place until a sensor signals that the vehicle has been hit in its rear, the case explains. As a cost-saving measure, the plaintiffs say, Chrysler and grammer ag designed the ahr bracket with an inferior and inexpensive form of plastic that can crack and break down prematurely due to the 75 pounds of constant pressure applied by the ahr's springs onto the bracket.

9 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

There is a documented defect in the front airbag sensors that resulted in a Chrysler "safety improvement" campaign limited to mainly northern states. My car has this problem but has been in florida for its whole life. Clearly they recognize that there is a defect in this part but will not issue a recall for florida-based cars. Can you make them expand this recall to all 2005 Dodge caravans since it is a clear danger that they are not fully responding to. Attached is what I found on the internet. Chrysler referred me to a local dealer who will charge me for the repair if Chrysler doesn't pay for it and they have made no commitment to pay if the defect turns out to be what they have recalled other vehicles of the same year and model for. The Chrysler case number is 29905594 given the significant safety risk of this defective part can you expand this from a safety campaign to a full recall for all cars of this model year.

11 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 11/05/2012

Received "safety recall l01" to replace the occupant restraint controller module (orc). The l01 recall was performed at Dodge dealership in daytona auto mall, daytona beach florida where the vehicle was originally purchased. According to the procedure to replace the orc, the electronic stability dynamic sensor (esp) had to be removed and re-installed as part of the replacement for the orc. Vehicle was picked up and driven home that day. The next day the vehicle was started and the esp, bake assist sensor (bas), and traction control sensor lights appeared on the dash. Returned vehicle to Dodge dealer to verify that this was not caused by the recall procedure. Dodge dealer checked abs codes and said the steering angle control /clock spring sensor was defective, and would cost $500 plus to fix. All these components are connected to the abs system. I just cannot believe that one day after the l01 recall was done, that another component of the abs system failed.

Failure Date: 12/11/2010

Back rear window imploded for the second time(first time 2009, second time 2010), nobody seems to have an answer for why this happens other than it was cold and snowy outside so the weather must have caused this to occur, (that is what they say) my family was in the van in the driveway getting ready to leave so I know for a fact that "nothing" went thru the window just a major defect of Dodge. Numerous issues with this van starting when van had 5000 miles, air bag sensor on, sliding doors do not work properly, loud sound from engine, tie rods need replaced for third time, control arm broke, locks make a whiny sound, check service engine light on told 3 times that we needed new spark plugs . Really at 30,000 miles. We changed them, light still on today. After an inspection of van now dealer sates that the alternator, water pump, sertine belt, egv valve, valve gasket, all needs replaced and the light on had nothing to do with spark plugs, go figure. I have sent dealership and Chrysler letters in regards to my safety concerns. This would be my fourth time calling chyrsler about major issues. They lack customer service and nothing ever done. We purchased new and van is now 5 years old with same and new problems since 5000 miles, now has 77,000. I will not be purchaseing a Dodge van again!!.

26 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 12/28/2008

Check air bag light kept coming on and off. Check air bag light consistently stayed on. Checked internet for recalls. Found NHTSA campaign id #07v192000. However, our vehicle was not included as part of the recall. Took vehicle in to have it inspected. Technician found no left impact sensor communication. Sensor was replaced and wiring was repaired. Technician confirmed that the sensor component had brass bushings as noted in the recall. We have the part in question. Chrysler was then contacted at 1-800-853-1403 and informed of the problem. Chrysler customer service would not agree to pay for the repair as stated in the recall. We were told to contact Chrysler 's reimbursement center regarding our case #318265532 for the left sensor. We are filing this complaint to inform you that our vehicle is affected and should be included in the recall. The right sensor has the same brass bushings and needs to be replaced, as this is a safety issue.

I bought a 2005 Dodge caravan sxt in October of 2007 with 50,000 miles on it. The next week the airbag light started coming on at random when driving at slow speeds (< 20) and then would go out. I called the dealer and they said they could not diagnose it because it was occurring on a random basis. The light stopped coming on a few weeks later and did not come on again until last week. Now it is coming on frequently and staying on at highway speeds. Coincidentally, the weather warmed from the 40's to the upper 70's just before the light started coming on again. I checked the Dodge website for recalls but it showed no outstanding recalls for my VIN.

Failure Date: 01/15/2008

Air bag impact sensor failure.

35 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

Front passenger seat weight sensor. The passenger airbag off light, which lights up during car start-up sequence, does not light when seat is empty. Brought into royal gate Dodge, ballwin mo for service. Was told by the service manager the light did not illuminate by design and that it would only illuminate when there was weight (approx 10lbs - 40lbs) in the seat. No parts were replaced, no action taken by dealer to correct situation, no sensor check was accomplished. The defective sensor, which indicates there is sufficient weight in the seat to fire airbag, can cause serious consequences including the death. At the very least the bag would fire unnecessarily causing extensive repair costs to replace the bag and dash (likely a desirable result for the dealer). More importantly, if a smaller person or child is sitting in seat, serious injury could result. Specific date reported can be obtained from dealer. Date below very approximate.
