Passenger side air bag exploded. Luckily no injury. Vehicle was not moving. I didn't even know it could do that! I'd like this fixed. Also, two leaks in engine. Oil leak/transmission leak. Is this normal? leaks are ongoing. Another thing: noticing headlights getting slightly dimmer, then brighter, at night as if some sort of electrical problem? this happens during driving and not driving.

This morning the first thing I noticed was that the cruise control would not work. This afternoon, I went to a local hardware store, purchased some items then went to my van. When opening the driver door, the driver side air bag deployed from the steering wheel. There is no sign of any damage to the outside of the car. I did notice that when I started the van the windshield wipers began but I could not stop them. When the wrecker came and the car was started, the wipers did not come on by them selves again glad that this did not happen when the car was moving. .

Dear sir's,
I made an appointment and went to the Dodge dealership to have a recall defective maintenance performed on the clock spring in my 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan, which has made my driver side airbag inoperable. They advised me that the part is not in stock and that there are over 6,000 on back order. They gave me a phone number to call so that could get a reference and or case number. I was advised that by doing this I would be covered. Is there further need for any other actions on my part?.

Low speed (around 15 miles per hour) front end collision resulted in deployment of driver side airbags. Knee airbag with hard plastic cover deployed against shins of driver, my wife. Within minutes of the accident she had sever bruising, swelling and pain. Within a few weeks, the skin and tissue on left leg turned black and required surgery to remove. A few days later she had a skin graft done. Six months later she continues to have significant issues with swelling, pain and circulation. Surgeon has now referred her to another specialist.

Accident, Grand Caravan was totaled. Van flipped, extensive front end, frame, side, roof, etc, damage. Neither of the front air bags deployed, nor did the side air bags. Preliminary assessments, including qualified individuals, indicate that the air bags should have deployed given the extent of the damage. Additionally, the drivers seat belt became disengaged during the accident (at the connection between belt tang and anchorage buckle).
1. No events or lights leading up to the crash. ( lights, error message for air bag, etc. )
2. Side impact airbag - did not go off. I was in a side impact car crash at sliding passenger door on our Dodge Grand Caravan. 3. Over $6,000. 00 worth of work done on vehicle. Nothing was done to coorect or even look into why the airbag didn't go off. Got run around from the dealership, Chrysler corporate office also the auto body shop that fixed our vehicle. I was referred to the auto shop by my "reputable" car insurance company state farm.

While driving at 25mph and when the vehicle was hit on front driver's side air bag did not deploy. Dealer notified.
I was driving my approximately 10mph when the driver's side airbag unexpectedly deployed. We noticed the airbag light began to light intermittently a week prior to the failure. We took the vehicle to our local Dodge dealer, lancaster Dodge. They immediately implied that the airbag never went off and that it wasn't a Chrysler airbag. They refused to do any work on the vehicle and repeatedly stated "what are you trying to pull here?". My wife and I were shocked and couldn't understand what they were implying. I took the van to another Dodge dealer who confirmed that the airbag did in fact go off (no surprise to us). I called to discuss with Chrysler and describe the situation. The client service representative wasn't interested in hearing about the second Chrysler dealer's finding even when I repeatedly explained how the first dealer's report had to be innaccurate because they said the airbag didn't go off. I since investigated reports similar to mine on the NHTSA site and found an active investigation into the clock spring on my vehicle. It appears to me that the first Chrysler dealer and the manufacturer are fraudulently covering-up this issue by preparing inaccurate reports of the failure.
Consumer states that the air bag light comes and and stays on and the horn is inopertive. Dealer contacted had the clock spring replaced. This is a common problem. Ts.
Clock spring assembly open circuit failure disables driver's side air bag and triggers open circuit sensor, enabling airbag indicator light.

While driving, driver's side airbag deployed. One person was injured in the accident. Dealer has been contacted.
The clockspring failure caused several components to stop functioning including the driver side airbag, horn and cruise control. I understand this is a fairly common problem among Dodge vehicles and am upset that they first charge a sizable diagnostic fee only to determine that this common problem has occurred rather than offering a free part replacement which would render the diagnostic uncessary. The air bag and horn should be considered by Dodge to be safety components and if this clockspring assembly is a commonly defective part, it should be replaced as part of a recall program.
Clockspring assembly in the steering column that carries power to the driver side airbag installed in the steering wheel is broken and thus there is no electric connection to the airbag. The failure is due to the way the connecting wire, consisting of a foil on a flexible belt, is wound into "clockspring". The belt makes two bends which causes stretching pressure to the foil and in the long run wears the foil and breaks the connection. The same configration carries also the signal horn connection and when the parallel running foils break also horn fails to work.
Consumer was traveling about 35mpg on a side street and another vehicle ran a stop sign and ran into side of consumer's vehicle. Vehicle was totaled. Driver's side airbags didn't deploy, and there were no injuries.
The horn is currently not working and after reading a news release I am concerned that my drivers side airbag may not be working. I intend to contact a Dodge service department to have the horn repaired and the air bag inspected but wanted to report our concern as the news release indicated that an investigation is currently underway.
