4 Radiator problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 03/05/2014

I opened the driver side manual sliding door and then the horn started to blow constantly, the front and rear windshield wipers turned on, the hazard lights flashed, the reverse lights were on, the instrument panel had many warning lights on including a red dot on the bottom. I tried to hit my car alarm button to see if it would make it stop and it didn't. I closed the door as my son ran into the house and then all the doors locked. I had to use the valet key to open the door. I then pulled the hood release and opened the hood. The radiator fan was also on. I disconnected the battery so the horn would stop blowing. I waited about 20 minutes and went back outside and reconnected the battery and it did the same thing again. This time I tried starting the car and it started however it would not allow me to put it into gear. I tried to turn the engine off but it would not let me. I got out and then I removed the fuses to the horn so the noise would not disturb me or the neighbors. A few minutes later I got back into the car and it let me put it in reverse so I pulled the van out of our garage and into the driveway but the power steering did not work. I tried again to turn the engine off but it would not stop. I even moved the key to the off position and removed the key from the ignition and the engine continued to run. I disconnected the battery again but the engine continued to run as did the wipers and hazard lights. After about 10 minutes the engine finally shut off. This same type of incident happened before to us in 2012. . Read more...

6 Radiator problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

There is a coolant leak coming from the y shaped diverter tube. The rubber has apparently been overheated due to its location over the hot engine. Many people have complained about this on forums. There needs to be a recall to have this replaced. The noxious smell of anitfreeze comes in through the vents, and smoke pours out from under the hood. Radiator is soon empty of all collant and the engine can overheat if not carefully watched. Coolant and water has to be constantly added in order to drive. This is clearly an issue with the placement of the tube over a hot engine and not insulating it well enough.

7 Radiator problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 03/21/2011

Took my 2005 Grand Caravan to the dealership due to a loud noise when turning. Was just informed by dealership that I need a power steering pump, and rack and pinion, bushings and bearings. Also need a new radiator. This is ridiculous for a barely 6 year old vehicle with 70,000 miles on it. I have also had the problem with headlight not coming on when you flip the switch. That is a huge safety issue!.

9 Radiator problem of the 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 11/01/2005

The vehicle's abs and check engine light have been going on and off for about 6 months. We had a mechanic look into it and replaced a relay or switch that belonged to the blower motors (fans by radiator). The lights seemed to go away until a couple of weeks ago, the abs light returned and the brakes act as though they are going to give out at any time. They have to be depressed for quite a length of time before the vehicle comes to a complete stop. There is also a weird sound of air or as if air where coming out when the brakes get depressed. I have had to add fluid once or twice a week and have been told by a mechanic buddy that there is very good chance its the brake booster due to the sound of air. I went online and noticed there were recalls for this in a couple of Grand Caravans but my VIN # doesn't fall into the suggested VIN range.

13 Radiator problem of the 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 03/02/2001

Consumer had taken vehicle to mechanic for an oil change , and mechanic found out that anti-freez was leaking from head gasket. Then, took vehicle to dealer to be repaired, and drove home finding out that dealer did not put fluid in transmission, and had to return for repairs. Consumer states that dealer did not perform all repairs, only fixed head gasket, did not properly re-clamp fuel line. Consumer states there was transmission problem due to dealer possibly removing radiator and not properly re-attaching the transmission line, causing loss of transmission fluid and noise.
