Transmission Not Engage Problems of Dodge Grand Caravan

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that vehicle failed to respond when shifted into reverse. The contact stated that the engine would rev up however, the transmission failed to engage. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated intermittently. The contact took the vehicle to thompson Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram baltimore (124 north point blvd, baltimore, MD 21224) where the vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 41,500.

Vehicle's powertrain stalled on two occassions. Once after stopping at red light, and second time (weeks later) on interstate in stop and go traffic. On each occasion engine continued to run but transmission would not engage. I had to stop, put in neutral or park setting, then shift to drive to get powertrain to re-engage.

The car shifts hard. When first started in the morning it ruins up high prm's before the car shifts. The car transmission sometimes fails to engage when I attempt to pass a car on the highway or when I just want ot speed up. This can happen when I am going 30 mph or 60 mph. It happens at random times. Recently the electrical system has started acting up. Last week when I went into the gracery store the window went down by themselves while I was in the store. (it was raining out so I am sure the windows were up when I locked the doors to go inside) the driver's side door does not lock or unlock with the remote control. Also when I go to exit the car the lock is sticking and it is at times difficult to open the door. Today when my wife went out to the van the car had unlocked and the front lights were on. I re-locked the car and it unlocked itself again. I have had the car into the dealership where I purchased numerous times(5 or 6) to have the transmission looked at but they don't get an"error code" so they say there is nothing that can be done.

Gear shift interlock does not disengage properly when putting gear shift into the park position causing key fob from not releasing from ignition switch. In order to release key properly the gear shift handle must be pushed up with force until a click is audible then interlock engages and key then can be removed from ignition. This problem occurs quite often and is more of a nuisance and headache. Took vehicle to dealer but they stated that gear shift mechanism needed replaced after adjusting gear shift cable. Part was labeled as restricted by Chrysler and did not have a eat for part availability. Called back dealer after a few days and the service tech stated that part was to ship on or after 11/1/08.

Transmission failure - when placed into drive the gears failed to engage (especially when cold). This van is 2+years old with ~62,000 miles. Fixed at smith brothers in old saybrook, CT and required new part due to the failure of the clutch hub imput which broke down sending metal parts throughout the transmission. (very expensive for a car this new!). I caught this problem early enough to avoid the potential disaster of a high speed failure. In addition, this vehicle does not appear to be able to maintain it's front end alignment. Since purchase the front end has been aligned twice. On 12/20/00 the front 2 tires had to be replaced ant the front end aligned (national tire, niantic CT). This past summer (I don't have the exact date handy) the front end had to be realigned again and I was told that the driver side was way out (auto service of old saybrook, 4 jade court, old saybrook, CT). This issue has caused excessive tire wear but danger was minimized due to regular inspection.

Transmission fails to engage in forward or reverse. Or transmission engages in reverse long enough to back out into traffic but then fails to engage in any forward gear or reverse. Dt.

When the vehicle was in drive on a slight incline it did not engage. The dealer repalaced the transmission. Manufacturer will be notified.

Original transmission replaced at 16,000 miles, second transmission is showing same symptoms - slippage and gear disengagement.

While driving in cruise control mode at 55 mph automatic transmission disengaged and went into neutral mode. Dealership indicated that transmission went into sleep mode, but they were unable to correct the problem because they couldn't duplicate it.
