Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings Problems of Dodge Intrepid

The contact owns a 1998 Dodge Intrepid. The contact stated gasoline fuel was leaking from the fuel line that connected to the fuel rail. There was also an overpowering odor of gasoline from the interior of the vehicle. The contact was advised by both the dealer and manufacturer that the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was neither repaired nor diagnosed for the failure. The failure mileage was 76,945 and the current mileage was 76,985.

When changing oil consumer noticed that fuel line was leaking. Took vehicle to dealer for service and it was determined that the leak was due to the o rings.

Nhtsa recalls 04v021000 concerning floor shift ignition park interlock, and 98v184000 regarding fuel leakage. It has been ninety days, and the dealer does not have the parts available.

Consumer smelled a gasoline odor coming from the vehicle. Consumer lifted up the hood and notice fuel spraying onto the manifold from the plastics fuel rail. Dealer was notified. Dealer informe consumer that this vehicle was not covered under the4 recall due to VIN.

This vehicle has had recall repair. . . Recall no. #98v189000 fuel system gas line: the vehicle was leaking fuel onto the ground and there was a strong odor of gas inside the vehicle. The problem has been repaired, but now the vehicle continues to stall while driving at any speed. The vehicle has stalled at least 8 times since the recall repair. The manufacturer is aware of the problem.

My car was destroyed and burned completely. I would like to know if other 1998 Dodge Intrepids have caught fire as well. It appears since 1993 that fuel line problems have existed in Dodge Intrepids. The firefighter informed me that there is a history of Dodge Intrepids catching on fire nationwide. Thank you.

Recall 98v184000/fuel leakage: vehicle was taken in for recall repairs. When returned vehicle commenced to vibrate/ sacked/ran rough and hesitated. Vehicle was returned to dealer twice for repairs, but problem still remains the same. Vehicle was not experiencing any problem until taken in for recall repairs. Dealer currently refuses to correct the problem. Seeking help from NHTSA in this matter.
