The contact owns a 1999 Dodge Intrepid. While driving 40 mph, the contact's vehicle was struck head-on by an oncoming vehicle and immediately caught fire. Another driver pulled over and removed the passenger from the vehicle before it ignited into flames. The driver was fatally injured. The passenger sustained closed head trauma, a broken pelvis and ribs, and third degree burns. The police arrived and stated that there could have been a possible gasoline leak that could have caused the flames to spread so rapidly. The passenger believes that a recall should have been issued. The vehicle was destroyed and a police report was filed. The mileages were unknown.

Fuel fumes were coming into inside of vehicle. Dealership was aware of problem.
Whenever vehicle is parked and turned off, can smell strong gasoline fumes inside vehicle. Have taken to dealership to check.
When car has been running for a while one can smell gas. Took to dealer, and they can't seem to smell the gas.
Fuel was leaking from the engine without a warning or knowledge where the fuel was coming from. Consumer is concerned of a possible fire.
When driving the vehicle we smell gasoline in the passenger compartment and when we park in the garage we get a strong smell of gas. We took the car to the dealership and they said that they were unable to find a problem, yet we still get this smell.
While car was shut off for about 10 minutes while consumer was shopping, heard an annoucement that someone's car was burning in the parking lot. Fire department was called to the scene. It burned so badly that it was totalled. Driver s was affected the most by the fire.
Check engine light has come on 8 times, dealer states fuel detection leak, unable to repair the problem.

The o rings were defective, which caused fuel to leak. The problem was repaired, however it recurred.
