While in route to work, I started smelling gas from air vents. I made it to work & when I went on lunch break my CO-workers said that they smelt gas around my car. I left work that morning when to a reputable mechanic to find out why I was smelling gas & rapidly started losing gas mileage. He informed me that my car(Dodge Intrepid 2001) have had problems with the fuel rail & that I should look into contacting &/or looking up vehicle recalls on my car. Contacted Dodge/daimler Chrysler & had absolutely "no response" as of yet.

- the contact stated that he took his 1996 Dodge Intrepid to the goodyear auto shop 1/11/07 and was told that gas was leaking from the o-rings and the fuel injectors. The goodyear auto center recommended for the vehicle to be taken to a dealership. The contact stated that the mechanic said the leak was coming from the end of the rail. The contact did take his vehicle to andy lewis Dodge and was told that he would be charged for a diagnostic, and the repair. The contact stated that the dealership informed him that the recall was not for the hair line crack in the fuel injector rail. The contact stated that the dealership informed him that his vehicle did have the o-rings replaced back in 1999. The contact has all repair orders.

I had a 1996 Dodge Intrepid purchased in 3/04 from original owner. On /1/99 he had the fuel rail recall performed at palmer Dodge. In February 25 2005 I smelled gas from the engine compartment. I took the car to shadeland Dodge on 2/18/05 and they said the fuel rail and o-rings needed to be replace again and did so under the recall. On 4/21/05 I smelled gas again and was on my way to shadeland Dodge, when I had to stop at a stop light. The car then caught on fire under the front hood. The car was not repairable.

Nhtsa recall 98v184000; Dodge issued a fuel leakage recall. Vehicle was included in recall, but still was experiencing fuel leakage from the fuel rail due to cracks, even after free repairs twice. Dealer will repair at consumer's expense for a third time.

(1) smelled fuel (2) fuel was leaking from fuel rail above engine (3) parts on order from Dodge to replace fuel rail and its defective design with new redesigned parts. Note this was a previous recall and the parts with the design defect was just replaced.

I took my 1996 Dodge to the dealer for recall #790 on 03/29/99 and I can prove that they did not replace the o-rings or reinforce the fuel rail. The car started leaking fuel and I am lucky that it did not burn up. I feel that someone should check and see if this 1 dealers fraud or if it is nationwide.

I started smelling gas and was going to get it fix the next day the very nest day while driving to work my car caught on fire. I still owe almost 3,000 dollar on it and just found out that the dealer should have gotten it fix before he sold it to me. By it being my first time buying a car I really wasn't aware of these things. I'm not sure if there is really anything I can do I just thought I would see if I have a complaint and if there is some way to rectify this situation. I wasn't aware of the recall. And they should the car to me as is. No letter or statement of any recall or damage was given to me. I have had minor work done on the car but I didn't know that this was a problem.

Vehicle description: passenger vehicles built with 3. 5l engines. The fuel injection delivery system can leak fuel from some of the sealing o-rings or from hair line cracks in the fuel injection rail. Dealers will replace the fuel rail o-rings and reinforce the outlet (passenger) side fuel rail. Vehicles showing fuel leakage on the outlet fuel rail must have the outlet rail replaced which includes changing the upper and lower injector o-rings. Consumer has the same problem. However this vehicle was not recalled due to the VIN.

I have 1997 Dodge Intrepid (3. 5 l engine). Passenger side fuel rail has developed leak. Problem is not o-ring, but appears to be crack. Dealer and Dodge customer service say this is no problem, is simple wear and tear item. I believe this is a defect issue with the fuel rail and a serious safety issue and should be a recall item. Est cost of repair (including diagnosis , multiple accesses to rail) $600. 00 (one side only).

The vehicle leaked gasoline. Consumer found out that vehicle had been in an accident prior to purchase and that a recall had already been performed. However the fuel rail o-ring leaked gasoline on the passenger side. Dealership not willing to do anything.
