The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2018

Issues I have had so far: car was on and running, in park, couldn't move it from park to drive. Had to turn car off and back on to restart the main computer that controls all that the headlights, visor mirror lights, dashboard main light flickered worse than any other times (this happens most frequently) the following dashboard lights would light up like a christmas tree: brake, eap bas, abs and the one that shows slippery conditions odometer would go from 0 to 100 and back and forth like it was possessed many, many times dings and whatever noise is made when all the above dashboard lights flickered on and off random lock/unlock of doors radio would randomly shut off and come back on * had to be jump started 3 times as my 13 month battery was drained to nothing took to local Dodge dealer, all they did was replace my 13 mon. Old battery and ignition fuses and sent me on my way without the issue being fixed. All the above has happened in motion or stationary except trying to move from park to drive was stationary. . 41 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2017

The pcm needs to be replaced. I don't know much about cars so I don't know what this means. The dealership did a diagnostic test and I was told I needed to replace the pcm.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2017

This vehicle will intermittently not start (usually once every 3-6 weeks). After sitting for 15-45 minutes, the car will start. It has been taken to two dealerships and one of those dealerships even replaced the ignition (at a cost to me of over $700) and that did not fix the problem. There is no rhyme or reason to this and no one seems to have an answer. One dealership even kept the vehicle for several days and could not replicate the issue or find the cause. From what I have found online, I am not the only person with this same issue. The latest episode was December 8, 2017, but this has been an issue for several years, basically since I purchased the vehicle used in 2013. I also contacted Dodge directly and they opened a case (#32993255).

43 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. While driving various speeds, the vehicle began to shake and there were squealing noises and a vibration from the floorboard. The vehicle was towed to champion Chrysler Jeep Dodge in indianapolis, indiana where it was determined that the power train unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the brakes and electrical system malfunctioned. The vehicle was repaired at least thirty times by various dealers since 2013. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

44 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2017

I was stationary in a parking lot. My vehicle has electrical problems when it gets below 50 degrees f. All of my dashboard warning lights come on and my gauges won't register including my fuel, rpm, and speedometer. My turn signals won't work and neither will my emergency hazard lights. My door locks and window controls work intermittently when this happens. My navigation screen/back-up camera will not work and my wiper blades and headlights stay on even though the controls are set to off. My wiper spray nozzles won't work and neither will my high beams. It will stay like this until my vehicle warms up, usually about 20-30 min. I am a nurse and often have to take call at night, so sometimes I don't have time to let it warm up. I have had to download an app that will tell me my speed and pray I don't get into an accident. I have taken it to the dealership multiple times and they can never find the culprit so it just wastes my time and money.

45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2017

Have lost most controls from drivers door switch, only thing that works is rear windows. All other 3 doors work fine independently. Vehicle had the k07 recall done in Feb 2011. Since then, there was intermittent auto/up-down on both front doors. Now I have lost function as mentioned before. The vehicle has been at local Dodge/Chrysler dealership since 14 November for diagnosis and repair. They cant figure our problem. Chrysler corporation was contacted by me for assistance on 19 Nov. As of this message, still no final diagnosis and repair. All they do is keep changing parts as directed by Chrysler. We are extremely frustrated with this situation and my gut feelings tell me there is a failure with the k07 recall and/or key fob recall number r03. All these components are related electronically. Sincerely think its time for the NHTSA to relook these 2 recalls with Chrysler corporation.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the overall issue had been with the electrical systems and the engine since she had owned the vehicle back in 2015. This morning while driving the vehicle's dashboard lights illuminated and the vehicle just stopped in the middle of the road. This incident almost caused an accident. The vehicle had been taken to multiple independent mechanics and dealers with the issue. The contact had researched and found other vehicle's with histories of similar issues. The vehicle was taken to the most recent dealer ganley Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram 310 broadway Ave, bedford, OH 44146 (440) 232-2121 and they suggested an issue with the vehicle's electrical and computer systems. The contact then took the vehicle for a second opinion to another independent mechanic and they could not clearly diagnose the issue since they did not have the equipment the dealer had. The manufacturer stated they would document the contact's file but the vehicle was no longer under a warranty, and there were no current recalls. They then suggested the contact call NHTSA. The failure mileage was unknown. Tf.

Failure Date: 07/20/2017

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. During an oil change at glenbrook Hyundai (4801 coldwater, rd, ft. Wayne, in, 260-484-9531) the technician noticed that the air bag indicator was illuminated. The contact was informed that there were two recalls: NHTSA campaign numbers: 16v047000 (air bags) and 14v37300 (electrical system, air bags). The contact was referred back to the dealer where the recalls were repaired; however, the air bag indicator remained illuminated after the repairs. 52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2017

I have the starting issue like others. The engine does not start. Sometimes it starts by itself after a while, sometimes I have to put the gear in n/d and back to p and try. In addition, sometimes the windows go up and down by themselves! I have seen many people have the same issue with this model. Please investigate it and make it as a recall!.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2017

Every four rotations of the ignition results in my vehicle being unable to start. I get 3 clicks with no start. The vehicle is stationary at the time of affect. I have been rendered stranded at doctor's offices due to this issue. Dodge refuses to look at it or acknowledge there are issues. Every time I have taken this vehicle to the dealership, they want $125 just to diagnose the issue.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2017

My Dodge Journey has run great for a few years now it is having a hard time starting. I have already replaced the battery and several fuses with no luck. It also seems to loose power and have a loud tapping noise in the engine compartment when it is cold. I have taken in the car to my mechanic to get the tapping checked we change oil (even when it does not need it) and the noise will go a way. So in a summary, I ahve a no starting, phantom tapping noise Dodge joirney.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2017

Car frequently doesn't start for long periods of time! next time I get it started, I'm taking it to a Dodge dealership to have it fixed once and for all (I think)! but the internet is full of complaints about this problem mainly for the 2009 and 2010 models! they haven't pinpointed exactly where that problem exists because the integrity of the whole electrical and starting system in these models is under question! unreliable starting systems could mean the difference between life and death in the winter, out in the country, when it's -35 c!.

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2017

Takata recall. When driving down the when going to slow down the Dodge Journey will stall out. Everything will just shut off and sometimes will have a hard time starting back up.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

I bought a 2009 Dodge Journey in April of 2017. A week after having it the problems started. First it was a backing plate. . . No big deal. . . Then it was the transfer case. . . Then my speedometer quit working and a few lights on the dash board. I was thankful that they tried fixing it over several months. Then they said we will give you 6,000 for it. . . . When I paid a little over 10,000 for it. . . No way! then September came around for inspection and I told them it sounds loud could you take a look at the exhaust. Well they passed the inspection. . . . I took it back a week later and said it still sounds loud. . . Well you need a whole new exhaust! why did you pass it knowing it needed this? I was told well at least you can still drive it. Here I am a year later for another inspection and it won't pass now because of the exhaust. . . I asked about the speedometer and their response was we will let that slide because it's been a ongoing problem since you bought it. So is it ok for them to be doing this to me? no speedometer. . . Miles on it are definitely not right because they don't move. . . I have 3 children I drive around in this car. . . I have to drive my son to pittsburgh children's hospital every so often. Am I in the wrong or are they? I was never asking for any money back or a brand new car. . . I was only asking for them to make it right with us and they think they have.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2017

The car is acting possessed. The pedometers and all the lights on the dashboard are blinking on and off the windows are rolling up and down by itself. The car cuts off by itself which driving and when I put it in park the gear shift won't move out of park and the car won't cut on. I took it to the dealership and they told me that the tipm module needs to be replaced and the wire harness. But didnt tell me that its recalls out here 4 the same problem my car is having.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2017

This is not the first time this has happened. My windshield wipers come on by themselves and will not turn off, had to remove fuse. As I was driving home from work they came on and wouldn't turn off. Then the turn signals, headlights, and dashboard lights stopped working. This car has a mind of its own and these work when they feel like it; meaning they come and go, working one second then not the next, then working again. . . . Usually they don't work and stop for a long period of time then eventually work again like nothing happened. This time I'm not so sure how long it is going to go on because it is worse and ongoing. I am finding just how dangerous it is not to be able to use turn signals, etc. I am unable to drive to work now because of the headlights! and now the rain is coming in and I am not going to be able to drive without headlights or wipers. There should be a recall on this - there are sooo many complaints! if something happens to me or my children or grandchildren there will be a lawsuit filed as there is no reason for this not to be recalled with all the complaints and danger it entails. Complaints I have read are about air bags not deploying, cars stalling in the middle of driving down the road, etc. This is totally absurd!!!!! and as bad as my car is getting these problems won't be far behind. I do not have the money to dole out for this being a single mom as it is a costly fix, which is exactly why they refuse to recall I am sure!!.

63 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2017

I purchased my Dodge Journey sxt 09-22-2016. On February 3, 2017, I drove about 5 miles (to my daughter's school then to my place of employment). I turned off my vehicle, began to exit the car and noticed it had light smoke coming from it. It bothered me seeing there was not reason (I. E. Wasted fluids) and I just purchased the vehicle. I called my someone to inquire from them about the smoke, and the next thing I know, people are yelling at me to get out of the car!!! my side of the car was on fire (under the hood). The car was stationary in a private parking lot. The engine was not running. In fact, if if my car door wasn't open, I would not be typing this notice.

64 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the key failed to turn over in the ignition to start the vehicle. The contact constantly had to maneuver the key to get the vehicle to start and, at times, was unable to start the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

65 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2017

2009 Dodge Journey - total intergrated power module ( fuse box) went in defect mode. It is located under the car hood near front driver side fender. Think of the tipm like a command center for all the electrical functions of your car. Want to turn on your wipers? that has to go through the tipm. Need the fuel pump to turn on after you turn the key? you'll have to run it through tipm first. My car engine turned off while on my street road. I had to manually turn off road. There was no traffic at the time. When I restarted car windshield wipers went on would not turn off. Low beam lights would not go off. No cluster lights ( fuel gauge, speedometer, battery, temp gauge, speed gauge, digital readouts etc) no heat or ac power, no blinkers. No emergency lights, no ac power converter. I could drive car but had no gauges that worked that left me in the blind. The following worked normal: brake lights, radio and electric windows. Had auto mechanic scan it and found tipm was defected. This is dangerous everyone because if the tipm just decides to go defect your car will automatically stop and you will lose control of your control because the tipm shuts it down. I was lucky and just coasted off the road, but if one is on the road and heavy traffic you will crash and you and every one's life, health and well being is lethally in danger ( death) this Dodge Journey due to this defect must be recalled before someone dies. Does it take death for a recall? is it going to take a death and group law suit? the tipm is defective and must be recalled on 2009 Dodge Journeys and all other after that year. The tipm is defective. Recall or group law suit ?.

66 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2016

Takata recall - was driving down the road at 40 mph. Car began to idle high, pulled over to shoulder and turned off the car. Opened the hood, smelled burning electrical smell. Closed the hood, tried to start the car. No start, lights on but would not start. Tried to put it in nuetral, still no start. Vehicle was towed 15 miles to my apartment complex.

67 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2016

"takata recall" my Dodge Journey was stationary, I tuned the key and my windshield wipers came on, they were in the "off" position but yet they are going back and fourth. None of my lights except the front and back are working, my dash is dimmed, and it sounds like my cars is ready to stall. Upon looking online, I see several complaints about this issue, but I'm not sure if it is a recall. . . This is a very big problem that needs to be corrected by Chrysler/Dodge! 2009 144,000 miles.

68 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2016

I buy the vehicle and checking the vehicle's history, I see that the car has 2 open recalls to repair problems in the car, try to communicate by email with the company but say they do not have the parts. I want to repair my car before an accident . . .

69 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2016

After the recall work was completed and we received new key fobs the car will randomly not start. We have taken it to our mechanic repeatedly and he has not been able to find the issue. He has jumpstarted it thinking battery was down, applied dielectric grease to connections, checked it with the computer and could find nothing wrong. Problem keeps recurring with the time and number of attempts increasing until, we have to keep car running on short errands and plan for alternate transportation when we have to go somewhere distant, in case it does not start for several hours. In addition the door locks, randomly fail to lock or unlock when using key fob, and also lock and unlock automatically when driving; warning lights randomly come on and go off, for things like low tire and check engine light but when checked or put on diagnostic computer there is nothing wrong. Warning lights come on when driving and stay on even after car is put on computer then shut off on their own sometimes after a few hours or days. All these started after recall and after reaching 100k miles, just got car back from mechanic after replacing battery last week. He is not sure what issues is but is going to replace a connection wire to see if it helps, because computer says its good. I see similar complaints saying car will start in neutral sometimes and I was told to try it. If it starts he said it may be a safety module, but cannot guarantee it is or will work. This has been happening for nearly 2 years with no resolution. Car is our only vehicle, and we follow all maintenance directions.

70 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2016

My 2009 Dodge se Journey has had several problems including some under open recall, electrical recall. However my brakes are very bad,abs light and brake light frequently come on and off. The brakes act as if I have no brakes or pressure, until they are half way down then they over engage causing the vehicle to suddenly stop or significantly slow at unsafe pace. I have contacted Chrysler there is no recall at this time. This is an unsafe vehicle all around and complete recall should be in effect. This problem has occurred since we purchased the vehicle and has not stopped.
