1 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2019

I noticed a clicking noise around the ignition switch, when the car is idling in park. I took my car in to the local Dodge dealer to be looked at. I was told the win module was going out and needed to be replaced. I know there is a recall on this, but my vehicle's VIN did not show a recall notice for this particular problem.

2 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2019

Ignition module went out in driveway. Would turn the car to off, take the key out, but the car would continue to run. You can drive the car without the key in the ignition. Took it to the dealership, they had to replace the ignition module and replace two of my car keys. Drove the car to the dealership without the key in the ignition.

3 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2018

Key can be turned off, and out, but will not kill the engine, or lights. Ignition switch module replacement through dealer, and reprogramming is the only way to fix it. Seen a recall for this problem but dealer tells me my car is not on the list. I turn my car off pull the key out, and I am still able to drive my car as if the key was in it.

5 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2016

Recall r03/NHTSA 14v-373: my dealer can not make this repair as it claims insufficient parts and a large back log of cars needing this recall. The dealer claims it receives repair kits on a 1 for 1 basis, getting only a few kits at a time. I have attempted this recall repair three times, each time being turned away due to no kit on hand. The vehicle has had a number of ignition module failures while driving, and a previous recall kit (l25) was installed.

6 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2016

I am referencing recall # 14v-373 for replacement of wireless ignition node module. I have had this part on order by local dealer for over 5 months now and am still waiting for dealer to receive the part so it can be changed out. I talked to dealer parts person and representative at fca group recall assistance center to find out why it has taken so long. No one knows why it has taken so long . . . I feel waiting over 5 months to effect repair is ridiculous and negligent!.

8 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2015

My complaint is regarding safety recall # r03 / NHTSA 14v-373 this is a fca, fiat Chrysler automobiles recall for wireless ignition node module and is the second such recall covering the same issue on my 2010 Dodge Journey. My issue: I have the recall paperwork and for the last couple of months I have been trying to get the work done. My Chrysler dealership in greenwood, in , tom o'brien, advises me that Chrysler has canceled the parts that were on order based on the recall. This is the second time Chrysler has canceled the repair parts needed for the recall. I am concerned because this issue can potentially shut off the engine while in operation and I drive extensively for my job. Please advise and provide any help you can to explain why Chrysler is allowed to cancel the parts needed by the dealership to effect my recall repair. It seems to me they are just appeasing NHTSA by having the recall then not following through, canceling the actual parts--frustrating the vehicle owners and the dealerships. This recall issue could potentially cost lives and Chrysler is being allowed to cancel the repair parts orders placed by the dealerships? I have the recall documents in hand and can't get my vehicle repaired. What can I do, what can NHTSA do for me? urgently request assistance in this matter.

13 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2015

In March 2015 the vehicle showed signs of ignition locking and not being able to be started with key. This did not happen every time, but enough to be annoying. Aaa was called to tow the vehicle to our reputable mechanic each time it occurred. Mechanic could find nothing wrong as this problem did not show while in his premises. The problem continued. In June I received recall notice 'r03" and on 6/16/15 put in an 'order' with chapman auto group in horsham, PA. When they inspected the vehicle it did not show signs of ignition lock up either. By the beginning of July, I was told by chapman that they had no idea when this part on the recall would be in stock. I proceeded to call two other dealerships in the area and received the same story from them. I also called Chrysler customer svc as well as sent an e-mail to customerassistre@Chrysler and so far everyone has said that the auto maker has no idea when and who will be making this wireless ignition node module to satisfy the recall. My car is defective and I need it repaired immediately. We have also used up most of our aaa calls due to this problem and our policy does not renew until March 2016.

14 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2014

The horn started randomly honking. It would go on for 30 seconds to a minute, blaring like someone was honking it with no distinct pattern. This happened when the car was turned off, no one was near it, the key fob was in the house. At one time it sounded like the alarm horn, with no lights flashing, but the car we unlocked and disarmed. This went on all night from about 7pm to 7am. Took it to the dealership for this and other issues. They had it for a week and the issue would not duplicate for them. This morning, a week and a half later, I went to start the car. Turned the key, nothing happened. Turned back to off position and tried again. This time it started. We had the whole ignition module replaced several months ago when the car left me stranded, alarm going off constantly, but I couldn't unlock the car. It was not the key batteries. I used the accessory key to open the door, and removed the horn fuse so it could be towed. Not covered under warranty equals over $700 in repairs and a lost day of work. Now I'm inclined to think that the new switch may be defective as well.

15 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2014

This vehicle is equipped with a Dodge oem remote start system which was activated in this situation. I entered the "remote started" vehicle and went to place my key into the run position. I inadvertently took the key to the start position and upon doing so turned off the radio, power windows, air, turn signals, cluster lights. I was able to drive the vehicle during this incident. These particular items were the only ones I noticed to be non-operational, but there very well possibly could be other critical components such as air bags affected. In order to regain functionality, I had to turn the vehicle to the off position restart. I tried to duplicate the situation but was not able to get to get a reoccurrence at this time. This is the 2nd time I have had this arise. I was able to capture video of the powerless components and show the vehicle was capable to be driven. I've made an appointment with the local Dodge dealership for review. This vehicle did have a win module recall in 2011, and is not currently part of the recent Dodge ignition problem recall.

16 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that after inserting the key in the ignition, the vehicle failed to start. The problem recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnose that the win module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. The remedy failed to repair the problem. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,207.

17 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2013

While driving along, navigational systems went blank, radio/phone/etc went dead, and turn signals became inoperable (was able to use emergency flashers to warn other drivers while changing lanes). Brought to dealer, was found to be ignition module does not work properly so key ends up in invalid position - causing system functions to not operate. There was a recall for this ignition switch, in which they p,laced spacers to keep the switch from actually turning the car off, but apparently, it does not actually fix the problem of the key going into the wrong position, just reduces it's range. The manufacturer charged to replace the defective ignition module.

18 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

Issues with starting car, erratic dashboard lights, and flickering power drops when vehicle is in motion. This is related to the ignition key and the ignition switch (win module) it's inserted to. When the car won't start you have to move the key around in the ignition switch to get it to finally start the car. I've taken it to the dealership on a few occasions and had them look at this problem. Most of the time they could not find anything. On one occasion they changed out the battery. That did not help. This issue has happened rarely back when the car had approximately 50,000 miles on it. Now it has 140,000, and happens quite often. I'm worried it might shut off driving in traffic and cause a major safety issue regarding my wife, child, and anyone else around the vehicle. I'm also worried, especially late at night at her jobs parking lot, it will leave her stranded due to the car not starting.

19 Ignition Module problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2012

I am the second owner of a 2010 Dodge Journey (bought in 2011). The original owners traded it in after not owning it a year. I was not told that it was already having problems until I met one of the mechanics at the Dodge dealership when I brought it in for ignition problems. He told me that he knew I would be back. The ignition recall has been completed twice on my vehicle. I still have the not starting issue that I have seen in other complaints. I am also experiencing the electrical problems that I am reading about here. No power to the dash, windshield wipers, or windows. This just isn't a safe situation. I have had a computer module replaced, but that didn't correct the problem. The dealership can never find the problem. Now I am out of warranty (80,000) and the problem is still happening and getting worse. My car has stopped while going down the road twice. Luckily I was able to pull off and restart. Something needs to be done about these problems. I have not notified Dodge directly, but have been to my Dodge dealership several times with the same complaints. Nothing seems to get fixed.
