At approximately 3:00 a. M. On a Saturday the 4th of August I was involved in a rollover car accident in which I swerved to avoid a medium dog/coyote and my vehicle hit the ditch and rolled. My front airbags didn't deploy and I had to be transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital. I suffered a head injury as well as numerous body impact injuries from the crash. According to the report from the impound my engine was found 40 feet from my vehicle. My first concern was of course my airbags and why they failed to deploy.

My daughter was driving down the highway in the passing lane. A white SUV tried passing another car that was to her right. The SUV misjudged and hit the rear right panel of my daughters Neon sending her into the median where there are wire guard rails. My daughter hit ice on a bridge going about 40 -45 mph spun and struck the guardrail head on and while spinning hit guardrail with frontend at least one or more times, the airbags did not deploy. The car was a total loss. This happened on 2/20/2012. She hit her jaw on the steering wheel, luckily there was no broken bone just very sore. I have a 2004 Dodge Neon sxt 4door. I was hit by a Buick on the front right side and my car spun, my stomach went into the steering wheel. I was told that if I did not have my seatbelt on I would have gone through the wind shield. After I was hit I tried opening the driver side door and it could barley open. Airbag failed to deploy! I was in a 6 car accident, front and rear ended followed by another hit! my 2005 Dodge Neon sxt was total right off at 33,000 miles. Not only that the airbag failed to deploy but the locking mechanism on the driver back seat had gave causing me to be tossed backwards! the locking mechanism on the steering wheel tilt also broke causing the steering wheel to drop in my lap! I now suffer abdominal pain, lower back pain, leg pain, and head injuries which I am now seeing a rehab, chiropractor doctor 3 days a week. Dodge dealers claims that there cars are 5 stars! safety equipment should work proper at all times!.

The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Neon. While driving approximately 5 mph in the rain, the contact's vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle traveling approximately 30 mph in the parking lot. The contact then rear ended the preceding vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel prior to the failure. The contact sustained injury to her back. The police was not called to the scene. The vehicle was taken to an auto collision shop for repair estimates. The insurance company has not yet determined if the vehicle was completely destroyed. The failure and current mileages were 84,000.

My 2005 Neon has been slipping when shifting from first to second gear. It is worse in warm weather. Transmission fluid fine and not burnt. Didn't pick up on the computer when it was checked out at a garage but no one disputes the problem. Feels like slipping on ice. Has 35,000m now and has been shaking as well. It began doing this at 30,000. Out of warranty by 6 months. Further, hit a deer last night. Significant damage to front end. Hit the deer hard enough for it to fly up onto the roof and bounce off. Body shop was surprised airbags did not deploy as the sensor was exposed and definitely hit. I'm kind of glad they didn't but after reviewing complaints this seems to be an issue. Finally. The wheels have been corroded since day one and there is no reason that the wheels should have done this let alone nearly immediately after purchase. Once again, Dodge does nothing.

It was another Sunday afternoon, we had just left church (me, my husband, and 2 year son and was on our way to see a friend and her newborn baby at the hospital. On our way to the hospital a truck pulled out from the access road from I-20 directly into our paths. We were traveling under 50 mph and had the right of way. . . . The impact was on the front passenger side where it completely destroyed the right front fender, grill, headlights, and the hood is now a rainbow over the engine. The ugliest part of this though, is that I was the passenger in the front seat, the passenger's air bag as well as the driver's air bag never deployed. In addition, the seat belt never locked, and I was thrown forward with the impact of the car. My forehead struck the windshield, then the dashboard in front of me. My chest also hit the dashboard, and my knees were forced up under the glove compartment area. Yes, I know this may sound minor with all the accidents that happen, and thank god it was. But I hate to know that this happened to me,and could more than likely happen to someone else, and they may not be as fortunate. I am now suffering from soreness in my chest and back, my knees are bruised, and I have severe whiplash in my neck. This incident has made me rethink the safety of the Dodge Neon, and I will now reconsider a much safer alternative for me and my family.

1998 Dodge Neon was forced off the roadway by a Mitsubishi eclipse that turned across 19 year old female drivers lane of travel. Sideswipe caused left front control arm to collapse, vehicle briefly bottomed onto pavement, leaving a short distance gouge mark. The Neon then jumped onto a curb and impacted a utility pole head on at an estimated 27-35mph impact speed. This accident occurred on nellis boulevard in las vegas, nevada. The frontal impact airbags did not deploy, female driver had severe neck injuries that resulted in a stroke and permanent disability. Trw claims the system performed exactly as designed. They claim their 1998 veam crash sensing algorithm assertained that the driver would have been out of position at the time of the utility pole impact and the depowered airbag would have caused more harm than good. I am the expert witness on this case for the plaintiff against trw. This defect in the design of the sensing system is an indication of why this subject vehicle and its similar model years has an exorbitantly high number of non deployment of front airbags complaints in the NHTSA complaints database compared to its peers. I am reporting this at the behest of defense counsel, who claims that my failure to report this defect is actually a failure of me to provide a service to consumers. I would be glad to discuss this and many other cases with NHTSA personnel, as I believe this defense counsel critique actually opens up a great opportunity for me to work directly with NHTSA to provide more immediate feedback on serious defects that have been occurring in the field on some systems. I would be happy to discuss my proposal with NHTSA on how we might be able to cooperate on narrowing down frivolous claims, but setting a high priority on real issues that typically result in lawsuits but are not necessarily brought to NHTSA's attention.

My son was driving our 2005 Dodge Neon on hwy. 50 when a 2003 Dodge dakota 4x4 made an unsafe lane change in front of our car. The driver of the dakota slammed on his brakes before being completely in my son's lane and my son rear-ended the dakota (front end damage, most of which was caused by the dakota's trailer hitch punching through our Neon--trailer hitch entered to the right side of the Neon's license plate by about a foot). Air bags did not deploy should have. My son was wearing his safety belt and due to the air bags not deploying, his knees were rammed into the dash. At time of impact, my son believes he was going about 20 mph. Damage to the Neon, according to cal state auto and geico, is $7400. 00. My son had sore knees and a wrenched back plus a very sore chest from the seat belt being the only thing that held him in place (could have been much worse).
